Could we knock the cost of Aloise's ult down to -5? It requires a fair bit of setup (or good luck) to realize its potential, so the opponent should have plenty of time to interact with the combo even before Aloise comes down.

*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play

That sounds reasonable. I also found a bunch of suggestions CKY made back in the day that I said at the time were all cool, and apparently made it into the Cockatrice update, but never the actual spoiler:
Some changes I want to suggest based on my first impressions:

  • Auspicious Reversal: 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens to 1/1 white Cleric enchantment creature tokens.
  • Collector of Antiques: 0/1 with "Collector of Antiques gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control," to */* with one more Relic and "Collector of Antiques's power and toughness are each equal to the number of artifacts you control."
  • Illpyre Inquisitor: "Creatures you control gain protection from creatures with the chosen name..." to "Creatures you control gain protection from the chosen name..."
  • Brenem, Light's Shadow: "Each player may cast creature cards from his or her graveyard and from exile," to "Each player may cast creature cards he or she owns from his or her graveyard and from exile."
  • Delve into the Unknown: "You may cast a nonland card... revealed this way," to "You may cast a nonland card... revealed this way without paying its mana cost."
  • Glacinorak, the Frozen Heart: "Those permanents don't untap..." to "Each player skips his or her next untap step."
  • Bahraz the Tyrant: to .
  • Hellish Snowstorm: to .
  • Young Pyromancer: Change to functional reprint that makes 1/1 red Viashino Scout creature tokens.
  • Spark of Imagination: "converted mana cost 1 or less" to "converted mana cost 2 or less."
  • Soulclash Shaman: "Then each other creature with the same name... etc," to "Then those creatures fight each other."
  • Gruff, Wayward Wanderer: Change the +1 to "Up to one target creature attacks during its controller's next turn if able," and "Sacrifice a basic land. Search your library..." to "Sacrifice a basic land. If you do, search your library..."
  • Natural Rebirth: 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens to 1/1 green Spawn creature tokens.
  • Crushthread Sage: ": Return Crushthread Sage to its owner's hand," to ": Return Crushthread Sage from your graveyard to your hand."
  • Blood Grove Ancient: "...Forest land token..." to "...Forest basic land token..."
  • Graven Giant: "Creature - Golem" to "Creature - Giant Golem."
  • Archmage's Staff: "...X/X Snake creature..." to "...X/X Snake artifact creature..."
  • Cutthroat Automaton: "Artifact Creature - Shapeshifter" to "Artifact Creature - Shapeshifter Assassin."
  • Scavenger's Sack: "...Scavenger's Sack deals 1 damage..." to "...This creature deals 1 damage..."

A lot of these were covered by my revisions, but a lot of them weren't, particularly the fact that Raid the Ruins and Young Pyromancer use different creature types for the tokens they create. That definitely needs to be fixed.

But like, how do you think we should go about making such changes? The kind of willy-nilly-ness of just, suggest-a-change, sure-why-not that I tried to make work 4 years ago ended up being very hard to manage. So like, do I think the card makes more sense with on the ultimate instead of ? Yes. But what about all the other changes that people might want to suggest? Should that be done here? How should they be approved? Again, I'm not saying the suggestion itself is a bad one, I just want to establish a precedent for how changes like that should be made.

I figure anybody can suggest a change and then you/ a deputy/ a vote confirms it. I'd save the voting for changes big enough that a large number of people would care. Confirm small changes yourself, and maybe sound out medium changes to see what people think.

Another problem I've noticed is that Consortium Customs and Mist Weaver as listed in the spoiler above are both 4 CMC 2/4s with effects that are far too pushed for Common, methinks. Consortium Customs got a little crazy with the Clue buff, and I bumped Mist Weaver to 4 in an effort to cull the 1 CMC slot, but I may have gone too far—now, even though there are still a few 1 mana instorceries, there's actually not a single 1-drop creature, which may be a problem. Plus, it somehow felt way more common as a 1/1/1. I'm inclined to revert the change I made to Mist Weaver and simply bump Consortium Customs to Uncommon.

Spire of Creation

Spire of Undeath

, , Sacrifice Spire of Undeath: Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.

Spire of Inspiration

Wanderer's Waypost
Land :wizard:
