Nothing feels better than fizzling a monored player's entire hand of burn spells (+ the Risk Factor in his graveyard) with Shalai.

**** you monored!

Here are some builds of the MPL

Seth Manfields RDW -one card different from what Autumn Burchett is playing
Image

Azorious Aggro, Huey Jensen, Reid Duke and Brad Nelson are playing this pile
Image
I love the Gid and Teferi split

A different approach to Gruul aggro
Image

Return to nature is one hell of a SB card, it can single handed deal with the Tamiyo/Callous Dismissal abortion -looking at you Banedon -

Bant Proliferate
Image
Highlilght:
Chamber Sentry

I love the RDW and Azorious piles, will definitively try those ones

there are also a LOOOT of esper and WW, full listS HERE

That Pelt Collector is nuts.

That red enchantment is weird. I guess it's clearly an end-game card where you can just chain cards you top-deck one after another? I wonder if it would combo with something like Molten Vortex where a land-flood wouldn't be a bad thing at all (not sure if it counts as discard though when it's on the top of your library)

Frenzy is quite powerful, that deck has a loot of cheap creatures, and with Runaway Steam-Kin you can chain an absurd amount of spells, the downside is that you stay on top deck mode, with Chandra on the board you can clear cards that you are not able to cast like a second land, the deck is very good, you would love it.

But you missed the true RDW king with Hazoret and Chainwhirler that thing was insane!!}

This is the meta of the MPL

You should play Magic Arena.

For some reason I haven't run into much red or white aggro on the ladder. It seems like most people are playing planeswalkers, which is probably the most aggravating card type out there. The Elderspell represent!

Elderspell found it's way into two of my decks (Orzhov and Dimir) as I ended up with a full playset from initial packs I bought when War was released and subsequent cracks. I do however hate the fact that it's dead on arrival many times as I'm not seeing heavy PW decks all the time.
It has been outstanding in the Orzhov mainly due to the fact I run 2 copies each of 4 PW in the deck and regularly have some out on the board.

Right now, virtually every deck I queue into on the ladder has planeswalkers. What decks are you queuing into? I see Bant, Esper control, Esper hero, superfriends, and just played against the Mass Manipulation with Nissa deck. Elderspell doesn't have to give your planeswalkers counters to be good, it just has to kill all the planeswalkers on the other side.

I'd be inclined to play 2 copies of The Elderspell, with the other two in the sideboard ... but right now I'm working on Bant :)

I run the bo1 ladder and yes, believe it or not, I don't see PW all the time. I see RDW more often than anything honestly.

I've started queuing into red in BO3 as well. The deck's clearly good, people should play it more especially to punish super-greedy all-planeswalkers decks.

Also MPL week 2 decklists: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/a ... 2019-05-16 Meta is

3 Esper midrange
7 Bant midrange
4 Esper control
5 Monored
2 Gruul monored (aka. monored with green cards, in this case literally just 4 Cindervines in sideboard)
1 Izzet Phoenix
1 Monoblue
1 Azorius aggro
1 Bant Nexus
1 Jeskai Planeswalkers

Seems the big decks are Red, Bant, White (oddly missing this week), and the two Esper variants. Salute to the brave people playing MonoU and Nexus - how the mighty have fallen. (#BanTeferi)

I can't get Bant to work. Seems uber-powerful on paper, but I get run over by RDW and control wins out most of the time. Maybe I just can't pilot it right.

Funnily enough, the day after the post about The Immortal Sun I started seeing lots of it in play. It most certainly works well in the current meta. Deck I played the other day just spammed the god-eternals in every color in the deck (W,R,B) and the immortal sun and dammit if that wasn't hard to deal with.

I'm beginning to feel the same way - it seems as though the deck is somewhat lacking in raw power. Looking at my list for example, the cards that I *really* want to play are Vivien and Teferi, maybe Oketra. The rest are all rather replaceable. That's not to say the deck is bad, but it feels like it needs its cards to "come together" at the right time or it's overwhelmed. At some level Bant feels somewhat similar to Golgari midrange from a couple of seasons back (they both run the Explore package for example) except it doesn't have Find//Finality as a catchup mechanism. Also when I look at the deck, the curve seems really poor. It's got like, no four drops but lots of fives, and because of that huge gap at 4 mana it's playing Shalai (I guess this is also here because it covers a bad monored matchup), which isn't an impressive card.

Of course it's also possible I'm terrible at the deck. I've certainly gotten better with it, but I still haven't gained much rank.

I'll probably keep iterating on Bant but might start playing Esper midrange again (even though planeswalker wars are stupid).

This esper midrange build just looks extremely strong. Being able to hold up two lands and play thought erasure on opp's draw step (via little teferi) is just, well, broken's a strong word, but certainly op. I've been working up a bant build that uses vivien to essentially play the role of teferi, but seeing this matchup has gotten me interested in esper.

Vid's not embedding, but it's Mengucci (W aggro) vs. Glogowski (esper midrange). I would recommend skipping ahead 3/4 of the way to when Glogowski comes back from 1 life to win the game and watch from there.
