Huh, okay.

Also, how many times per encounter can I use encounter spells? The "At Will" and Once a Day" spells seem fairly self explanatory for how many times they may be used in a day, but I'm unclear on encounter spells. Does that mean I can't use them outside of combat?

Yeah, minions pop if they are hit at all, but take no damage from missed powers. (Your dailies tend to deal damage even on a miss but not to minions.) So, they are a poor target for your more limited powers that pile on damage, but they are good targets for area damage.

You can use encounter powers once per encounter. Encounters end when you are able to take a short rest. Essentially, you recover your encounter powers if you're able to stop and breathe for five minutes, your daily powers if you're able to stop and breathe for six (and you have to have slept at least six hours (or your race's equivalent) in the past twenty-four). My Speak with Spirits power is an encounter evocation, and I can clearly use it out of combat (it boosts my ability checks), but I have to pause for five minutes before I can use it again.

At Will : Spammable
Encounter : Once per combat
Daily : One per day.

To get your encounter powers recharged, you have to be out of combat and rest for five minutes. To recover any daily powers you need sleep for six hours.

Continue to stay hidden
I whisper to Little John to ask the others to fall back towards the rock around S10? (So I can keep my cover with a hopeful ambush).


Things will probably change if I fail my acrobatics check... so let's start with that.

Two things...
Do I have to make stealth checks? I'm planning on yes.
Can I hold my action, and still take free actions? I'm assuming yes, but I'm not sure.

Thinking...
I'll ask Little John to request retreating to the rock as mentioned, and then holding my action to just before the kobolds go.

Well since 34 went charging forward, I dont think falling back is an option. Hes not going to be able to move until after the enemies next turn. So even if you ready an action, and we all spend a turn retreating, your first turn would be a waste.

In my groups, if you miss with magic it usually shoots off in a slightly different direction. I wanted to be in a spot where the general direction I was casting wasn't too close to any players. Old habit.

Stealth : In our current situation you are passively being stealthy, and the enemies are not actively looking for you. They are busy with other targets and have no reason to be staring into trees. No rolls currently required as your skill trumps their passive regardless.

Delay : When you delay, you permanently drop your initiate to whenever you chose. So if you take your turn after Oak, for the rest of the fight your turns are after Oak.

Free actions: Can be done at any time on anyones turn. Literally free to use whenever

Well my only logical choices are to hide in the tree, or to jump down.
Given I don't want to waste a turn, I want to see if I can jump and then attack.
I'm checking distances now...

Wait... didn't the goblin just throw something? Like a bomb?
I have a different turn instead, if that's the case.

altimis, I do not think it make sense for people to have lured them to the tree so you can ambush one minion. Did you pick up a ranged weapon? Why don't you hit one guy with a ranged attack (a basic one, if you didn't grab a ranged power), and then jump northward to stay hidden behind the rock? You'll probably have to make a more difficult Stealth check because that's a lot of movement, but it'll allow you to come back around and move in for a flanked/hidden attack.

I don't have a ranged weapon. I armed myself with an improvised ranged weapon.
I can only jump like 1 square at best (unless I roll a perfect 20 8^p)... otherwise I would have lunged at one of them already.

Besides, you don't know that there aren't any more lurking around. I doubt it... but I find it odd that there's only one special guy especially after he was hidden in the first time.

Next turn, I'll probably jump behind the L5 rock. If there are only like two or three kobolds left at that point I'll just throw my improvised weapon.
