Okay, with the tournament deck locked I was looking to practice in a BO3 format. Thing is I can’t seem to find the mode anymore. The usual is one off games in ladder. I can find constructed with the 7/3 setup but games are only best of 1. The other gem modes are limited anyway. Even all modes does not reveal anything different. I used to be able to pull up a list of modes but forget about how. Anyway also open to casual matches and usually play between 7 and 9 pm UK time. If about then tap me up and any tips on how to access a constructed BO3 again let me know! SD

Clicking on "play" calls the list of game modes. Or "events".

It appears that there is no ongoing BO3 Constructed Event now.

There is, it's called "competitive constructed" and is always there. You can also press play -> ladder -> competitive (I forget the name) which is also BO3.

Thanks for the confirm. It’s a bit annoying I guess they do not provide a gold purchase only BO3. I think they may have done once. It may be to do with wanting to get the economy side of things right with the ftp players and not giving away the full experience. At least we have the tournament and the option for casual matches now to do a manual BO3 by mutual consent. I thought I also saw something on a CGB vid of a coin toss to decide the play or draw. That would be good in a tournament if it lets you opt. SD

We all know WotC are greedy, but please, SquiderDragon, chill. As of now, the game is pretty enjoyable as an FTP thing. I myself is very much an FTP player, though I've spend 5$ on a welcome pack once (it was my birthday), it haven't impacted my progress that much. But I have been able to build a semi-competitive deck and to have much fun in both Ladder and BO1 competitive. And I would have done it without the intro pack, just maybe a week or two later.

Yeah I did similar as the welcome pack is definitely worth it. Agree am happy with the ftp experience overall and the opening of the direct challenge which enables the tournament is something us ftp players can get behind! SD

Same situation ($5) but I feel like I'm getting burnt out from grinding with a "limited" (by my collection) deck that runs a somewhat "random 60 out of 75" of a good deck approach.

It's been two months now and the guilds I would've liked to play (Selesnya and Golgari) are still quite a few wildcards away from happening. Let alone playing some "fun" decks. By now I might be able to force either with my wildcards but I'm hesitant. Really don't like the idea of spending half of my rare wildcards on "boring but necessary" cards (5 lands for Selesnya or 3 lands and 3 Jadelight Ranger for Golgari).

That's why I think it's well worth the money if you can afford it. I did and I'm having a ton of fun being able to play with most if not all of the top tier decks and also brew some jank of my own if I so wish.

It’s a tough one to be sure. I cashed in wildcards for both golgari decks, one for a full play set of Tendershoot Dryad plus a Vraska to add to the free closed beta gift. Another lot for the full play set of ritual of soot plus an additional carnage tyrant for golgari control. Both end up being at best Tier 2. Although I have a full play set of Wildgrowth Walker I don’t have the rares for the explore creatures (or enough of them). Tournament deck similar. I was lucky to open 3 Niv-Mizzet. Wildcard for fourth copy. I had to cash in 2 rares for 2 treasure maps. I can end up with a few decks that I can enjoy playing but cannot compete with a fully stocked deck over a series of games. Then you have games where you just get unlucky - T2 Druid of the Cowl, T3 Vraska, T4 Doom Whisperer, T5 Carnage Tyrant!!! SD

If you are electing not to spend wildcards, then that's not Arena's economy's fault

Fair point, I guess I should make up my mind which of those guilds to play and invest into it.

I guess I would say that you should hurry up and pick, because then you'll have one fully functioning strong deck and runs through constructed events will go better and faster, increasing future returns and generating more wild cards quickly.

As the saying goes, it takes money (wildcards) to make money (wildcards).

Oh I don't think I'd win more(should say: faster) in Bo1 than with my WWr deck. I just like Abzhan colors better. The tracker doesn't work since the 20th for me but until that point the deck is logged at 98-48. And that includes the nigh unwinnable RDW matchup(15-19).

But yes, I will make a decision soon. Just opened an Elephant which makes Selesnya Tokens 1 card cheaper ;D

edit: Oh and apparently I just cracked the Vault. So tomorrow I'll get something ;)

It was not going via Play. Sorted ! Yep BO3 in the ladder. Ideal for deck testing! SD
