Either Nightveil Predator or Luminous Bonds.

Probably Predator, because in addition to being hella strong in Limited, he is an uncommon that's very playable in Constructed.

After yesterday's Dimir debacles I'm not drafting it anymore. The bots sweep most good cards.

Beacon Bolt for me. Easily splashable, counts for 2 removal spells.
Predator is good, but not splashable. Bonds is quite a bit worse.

Preferred Pronoun Set: Mr.
Predator was my first thought also because it's a good card. All it is missing is an opponent discard clause in order to be a perfect Dimir card.

I’d pick Cyclops but I wouldn’t be happy about it

Ok so I went for Bolt... I mean it can be splashed in any Blue or Red deck and those are 2 of the most powerful colors in GNR-
Predator is great a bomb on its own right but its very committing on P1
Cyclops is a great bomb too, but I just think its a bit outclassed here.
Rest of the pack is way under the power level of this 3 cards.
Finally, I built a rather solid Grixis control deck and the Guild Mage... rotate its way back to me... so that would have been a perfect choice... but not the right one :P I even grabbed another one in P3 but it was too late to go Jeskai

The correct pick was Beacon Bolt.

I'd take Nightveil Predator. Is Beacon Bolt really that good? It's not constructed after all where you can build around it, you need creatures in limited too.

In limited, Beacon Bolt is good when you are already Izzet, because it compensates an Izzet weakness (hard removal) and plays naturally into what Izzet already has (instants and sorceries). In Grixis, you already can pick up best black removal, and can expect to have less instants/sorceries than straight Izzet (look, out of his 7 black cards, only one is a spell), so Bolt seems kinda inefficent.

Oh, it's downright great. It can take down multiple creatures with about 4 toughness easily. It's the a bomb in Izzet decks.

In Grixis, Beacon Bolt is still two removal spells. And theoretically, surveil would just feed your graveyard anyway.

But more to the point, this isn't really the format to be drafting 3 colors unless you are absolutely have to.

True story; though I do find myself splashing for a split card fairly often. Status is a decent card in Selesnya/Dimir; and with two Golgari Guildgates or one Gate and a Gateway Plaza you probably have enough outs to cast Statue without really marring your manabase.
Similar story with Discovery // Dispersal and sometimes Integrity/Intervention.

At this stage of the format, I´m splashing a lot, but the splashing went a bit over the top on that deck... the run ended 2-3
G1. Loss to bad mana... and questionable keep
G2. Amazing win against a very good Boros pile
G3. Very tight game vs a solid Izzet pile Loss
G4. Free win vs mana-screwed opponent
G5. Loss to god draw Izzet, I mulled to 6 and kept a slow hand GG

Why would you guys don't splash in this format? it's so easy to fix your mana when you don't get greedy

Yeah, but splashing isn't the same as 3 colors - when splashing you only have like 1-2 cards of the splashed color - I'm a fan of splashing too and played 4-color decks in two of my drafts in the past few days, but after having a bad experience trying a U/B/G tricolor build I've never actually gone tricolor again.

Like Banedon, I'm not opposed to splashing in general, but against straight 3-colour decks.
Some reasons against splashing:
1) The format is quite a bit faster than DOM/M19 thanks to White and Red being two great aggressive colours. The format also has a decent amount of tricks and burn spells, while a lot of removal is a bit clunky.
2) The mana requirements are very demanding. AABB turn 4 is no joke, as is 1AB turn 3; and unlike Dominaria the cards get quite a lot worse if you cannot cast them on time due to the format being faster. Basically, whatever wiggle room your manabase would have in normal formats is now needed just to fix your own guild.

Yeah, I wouldn't consider a deck Grixis if it's Izzet with two Dimir Guildgates to turn on a split card or to fit in Price of Fame or something or Dimir adding some gates for Experimental Frenzy.

Even then though, it's often not necessary and you're trading down alot of consistency for the extra card when the power level contained in each guild is usually quite high. Splashing is usually a "by necessity" thing rather than a "this is a good strategy" thing.
