If You Want To Stay Here
(The "Crash" Discotheque)

All the melodies - sung,
All the poems were written.
It's a shame our thoughts cannot yet be transmitted.
Maybe it is a breeze barley flapping my lips,
Maybe it is my scream, coming out as a hiss.

If you want to stay here,
No need for rationale,
May your dreams include a pleasant ocean and champagne,
It's far past twelfth hour,
But you are still my guest
You're tired and need resting ?
Well, then, here you can rest.

All the rumors of past thousand ages discussed,
And guitar was forgotten for few hours past,
(And you are tired of songs at last.)
On the watch you throw down a disturbed look...
NO !
IT'S NOT YET THE TIME !
DON'T FLEE !
DON'T GO AWAY !
BE WITH ME !
SING WITH ME !
SPEAK HEART BY HEART WITH ME !
NEAR THE DOOR TURN AROUND FOR A BEAT !
CITY TODAY WILL BE WET
STREETS WILL BE QUIET AND SAD,
EVERYBODY TO BLOCKS WILL FLEE
BEHIND LOCKS
AND CONCRETE,
SAD WINDOWS LOOKING DOWNBEAT...
NO ! IT'S STILL NOT THE TIME !
PLEASE WAIT !
WHERE ARE THE WORDS ?
WHERE ARE STORIES, PHRASES TOO OLD ?
WHERE IS ALL THAT'S NOT TOLD ?
LEAVING, BRIDGES BURN DOWN,
WITH YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ONE WHO YOU ARE SMILING TO NOW...

ALL THE MELODIES - SUNG,
POEMS, ALL LYRICS, ALL EPICS CREATED,
NATURE'S LAWS FORMULATED,
TALK SHOWS DEBATED,
ALL THAT'S LEFT TO SAY IS THAT
I WANT TO BE WITH YOU,
LIVE A LIFE WITH YOU,
LOVE THE LIFE WITH YOU,
LIVE BELOVED BY YOU,
EVERY DAY SHARE MY LIFE WITH YOU,
TO LEAVE HOME
AFTER MAKING THE BED,
TO GIFT LIFE WITH YOU,
TO ADORE THE KIDS WE WILL GET !
STREETS WILL BE QUIET AND SAD,
CITY TODAY WILL BE WET,
MAYBE THIS MELODY IN NOISES OF RAIN YOU'LL RECIEVE...

JUST TURN BACK WHILE YOU LEAVE...
MABYE THIS MUSIC WILL HAUNT YOUR SLEEP TILL YOU SCREAM ?
MAYBE THIS STORY IS NAUGHT BUT A DREAM ?
MAYBE IT IS A BREEZE BARELY FLAPPING MY LIPS ?
MAYBE IT IS MY SCREAM, COMING OUT AS A HISS ?

If you want to stay here,
No need for rationale,
May your dreams include a pleasant ocean and champagne,
It's far past twelfth hour,
You live so far away
We'll think up an excuse
But in the morning, while awake.

If you want to stay here,
No need for rationale,
Shame we can't ride into dawn from our society's chain,
It's far past twelfth hour,
You need to let it go,
You're doomed to return here
And to fall asleep too soon.

If you want to stay here,
No need for rationale,
May your dreams include a pleasant ocean and champagne,
It's far past twelfth hour,
You live so far away
We'll think up an excuse
But in the morning, while awake.

If you want to stay here,
No need for rationale,
Shame we can't ride into dawn from our society's chain,
It's far past twelfth hour,
You need to let it go,
You're doomed to return here
And to fall asleep too soon.

A song about time
(Vladimir Vysotsky)
(I may not entirely agree with the song's central message)

Fort of time is entrenched and it's entrance concealed
In a net of the green creeping vines,
And it seems gray and bleak, but it's silence is weak, you need only to ask and the granite will speak,
Of war campaigns,
Assaults
And the triumphs...

Time have never erased any glory
Flay it's skin to uncover insides,
Or chokehold it without a hurry -
And it will give away what it hides...

[cue epic march with trumpets for until the end of the next verse]

Hundred locks will lock off !
Hundred bolts will fall off !
Hundred clocks will tick off
Heaps of years of it all !
And the legends will spill,
Hundred verses each of !
Of tourneys, of the sieges, of epic standoffs !

And prepare to hear all the songs you're tired of,
And respect to the purest of virtues,
For the thing we call love we will always call love,
Even in the most distant of futures.

Steel have shattered under the blows with a bell,
Barrels smoked from assault on evictors,
Death was sitting on pikes, screaming horrible yell, foes for mercy have pled, as in mud they have fell,
Giving up to
The mercy
Of victors...

It is sad, but not every survivor,
Had his heart in the goodness remain,
Thus protecting from dastardly liar
Purity of his own honest name...

[march with trumpets for next verse]

It is good if your horse,
Had just bitten the lid !
And your hand on a spear
Can hold it with a grit !
It is good if it's known
Who gave you fatal hit,
Worst - be killed by a sneaky, dishonest misfit !

What will be with the scum ? Beaten down ? That is fine !
Witches don't scare you down with their vultures ?
But the things we call vile we will always call vile,
Even in the most peaceful of futures.

...

And for all of the times, and as long as there's light,
Fearful traitor is always despised,
Foe is foe, and the war is the war, day and night, and the prison is tight and the freedom is bright,
And it's always
Fought for
And promised...

The time never erased those ideas,
Flay it's skin to uncover insides,
And a stream of the eternal feelings
From it's throat will be poured on us...

[march with trumpets for next verse]

Now, forever, for all
Of the times - The Old Times !
And the price is the price !
And the vice is the vice !
All is good when the honor
Is not sacrificed !
When a friend by your side can protect and advise !

What is clean ? What is good ? We look up to past days.
Sagas, tales - all from the long-gone cultures -
For the thing we call grace we will always call grace,
Present, past, or the wildest of futures.

(I may not entirely agree with the song's central message)

The Golden Calf
aka "Le veau d'or est toujours debout."
(Faust)

Western half; and eastern half,
Of the earth are unified,
By a vision glorified -
Idol of The Golden Calf.

In demented competition,
Men of different life and faith,
Dance around alluring vision -
Multiplying their own wealth,
Multiplying their own wealth...

There, Satan draws his strength !
He draws his strength !
There, Satan draws his strength !
He draws his strength !

"Effigy" defeats all gods,
Yellow glint for soul is blinding,
Growth of capital is binding
Law - both human and divine.

For a pound of cursed metal
Mother goes against her sons,
And the people go to battle,
To pay someone's checks or loans.
Humans dying for a pence,
Humans dying for a pence...

Where Satan leads the dance !
He leads the dance !
Where Satan leads the dance !
He leads the dance !

Speaking of translation from Russian, have a smol poem:

Through morning fog, bereft of worry and pain,
Birnam Wood comes to have breakfast at Dunsinane.
Back in the ragged day, reduced to branches and shy,
It came here for the first time, but doesn't recall why.
Now it's a treasured guest, with its table reserved,
Every leaf washed, stems a-brimming and curved.
The lake breathes with light, laughter and dreams.
Hello, nods Macbeth, you're in time, says Macbeth,
We're having a war today, it seems.

Just a translator. I haven't written any non-parody poetry in over thirty years.

It is fiendishly difficult to translate song lyrics and keep both meter and rhymes, but you consistently manage to pull it off.

Utmost respect.

Thanks for the kind words, Eph.

Just what exactly you meant ? (Causality)

I met you during spring, two years ago,
The next thing I knew, I was right at your door!
You told me to stand up, told me to walk around,
And then you got tired of that and lied down.
I got that - that was my cue !
I figured out where it went !
But I just couldn't understand what exactly you meant !
Just what exactly you meant ?
Just what exactly you meant ?
Just what exactly you meant, just what exactly you meant, just what exactly ?

I couldn't properly commit your face to my mind,
But you have already bought two rings of some kind,
An organ played, a ton of people got drunk,
And then your mother, or some reason, called me her son !
I got that - that was my cue !
I figured out where it went !
But I just couldn't understand what exactly she meant !
Just what exactly you meant ?
Just what exactly you meant ?
Just what exactly you meant, just what exactly you meant, just what exactly ?

When you thought I was asleep, but I was just playing dead,
I saw you add some kind of powder into my meal set...
An unusual taste, the vision goes bleak,
And then you say me "Bye-bye, in Heaven we will meet!"
I got that - that was my cue !
I figured out where it went !
But I just couldn't understand what exhhksaaahhkkkffsahhhhhh...

...

Just what exactly you meant ?
Just what exactly you meant ?
Just what exactly you meant, just what exactly you meant, just what exactly ?

Fighter, Cleric, Thief, and Mage.
(Sauronych)

In wanderings and battles,
For so long we stopped the count,
For Artifact of Ancients,
Again we lead the hunt!
For quartet of explorers,
No obstacle's too much...
...
Whole cities have been razed flat
By our crazy bunch!!!

Amid the Deadly Desert,
And along the Mountain Range,
In union, are marching...
Cleric, Fighter, Thief, and Mage!
Let undead monsters tremble
At one thought of their rampage!
Across the world are crawling
Fighter, Cleric, Thief, and Mage -
The men of age!

In forests, caves, and ruins,
We looted random chests!
For maniac adventurers
Will ALWAYS find their quests!
And let the law enforcement
Get owned and cry in rage -
...
Another tavern crushed by
Fighter, Cleric, Thief, and Mage!!!

Amid the Deadly Desert,
And along the Mountain Range,
In union, are marching...
Cleric, Fighter, Thief, and Mage!
Let all the dragons tremble
At one thought of their rampage!
Across the world are crawling
Fighter, Cleric, Thief, and Mage -
The men of age!

The monsters are in shortage -
By hundreds, they get wiped
By union of prayer, sword,
Arcane arts, and a knife!
And even cleric gives in
To chaos, rage, and pain -
He spins his Holy Symbol
As an improvised flail!

Amid the Deadly Desert,
And along the Mountain Range,
In union, are marching...
Cleric, Fighter, Thief, and Mage!
Let lords of demons tremble
At one thought of their rampage!
Across the world are crawling
Fighter, Cleric, Thief, and Mage -
The men of age!

And, yet again, we're ready!
Adventures - begin!
Death Knight is not a problem,
And neither is our King!
Now, after visiting it all -
Atlantis, Leng, and Hades,
The time has come to devastate
And loot the GM's brains
!

Amid the Deadly Desert,
And along the Mountain Range,
In union, are marching...
Cleric, Fighter, Thief, and Mage!
Let our Game Master tremble
At one thought of their rampage!

Across the world are crawling
Fighter, Cleric, Thief, and Mage -
The men of age!

Special thanks to G.M. S.

Assyrian Scripture.
Poem. By Valery Brusov.

I - first among the kings, the king Esarhaddon.
The rulers and the lords, I speak to you - disaster !
My rise was followed by the riots in Sidon -
It's stones were cast to sea, as it from Earth was blasted.

In Egypt, all my speech was taken as a law.
Elam looked in my eyes, and saw it's fated master.
And on the bones of foes, I've built my iron throne.
The rulers and the lords, I speak to you - disaster !

Disaster - of my fate. How will I be surpassed ?
The deeds of any men - to me as nightmare passed,
The dream of heroics - a childish story.

I have exhausted you - the worldly glory !

And, on a throne of mine, I sit, in woe, alone,
I - first among the kings, the king Esarhaddon.

that one is neat
i wonder if it would help to expound when specific names are used
like who is Elam?

maybe just a short parenthesis to expound

It could add a good dynamic for the reader's mind
to engross them more

Elam is an ancient city, as is Sidon.

There, beyond the third crossroads,
And from there, to the south, horseman with a golden saber, in the grass the stars is sowing -
Hear it! Spreading out the flour of sky!
From the sieve, the steely powder, which then falls upon the mountains, on which roads will then it lie down -

The roads were tied,
In a tight clew of snakes in love;
Because of beath of the volcanoes,
In mist zones,
The wings go so numb!
The Demon, repent,
For we will always be above;
Behind the windows of sky states
Will reach the light of the sun.

There, beyond the third wharf
