I wonder how did the red deck SB against the Golgari pile, IME the matchup is BAD.

This deck just won an open in Charlotte. Wow. 5-color control by Ali Aintrazi.

Seems like the only real win conditions are Mastermind's Inquisition, which would get the appropriate way to finish off opponent from the sideboard. It's a weird deck, and it seems like it loses easily to Teferi, but it looks really fun.

EDIT: https://www.coolstuffinc.com/a/aliaintr ... inbow-lich. Very interesting!

The short answer: Banefire

It's time for me to approach a new deck for Constructed. After the Insta-Ban event, Merfolk will never feel the same again ;)

Thinking about Golgari, Selesnya, mono white and even RDW. Could you rate matchups vs Control and RDW for me? Those are the matchups I want to be favorable.

Overall, thats kind of sweet that "best deck" get stomped by 2 mana 1-3 and 6 mana artifacts. Can GB adapt to that?

I was looking at that deck too. Looks like a snooze-fest to me. Which reminds me to eventually make my phyrexian scriptures/fall of thran BW control deck aka the blow-crap-up deck.

Can't banefires me with no lands can you?

I tried that deck before the wipe and new set. It was fun but I could not get it consistent enough. Haven't tried it with the new set, is it worthwhile now?

Well, I can't really say because I'm missing more than half the cards for the deck...
I'd say it would probably give GB a hard time, but I don't think it'd be favoured against izzet/Jeskai/esper control.
My version had plenty of creature hate and life-gain, but you have to draw the right answers and not miss land drops... I guess it's just a deck to change pace from aggro mostly that isn't as boring as counterspells control.

So, I finally acquired all the cards for mono red ffenzy and mono u. Nice change after the GB decks.

First series as mono red finished 7-2, second 0-3. This deck is so hit or miss I can't even get how it won GP Lille. Frenzy into 2 mountains or another frenzy is pretty gg against Izzet. Niv-Mizzet made toast of me next game. GB with lifegain was dreadful too. Jeskai with drakes and deafening clarion = gg too...

I only took mono U to free play, but god, I lost to vampires and there was nothing I could've done, they just spawned those funny creatures and gained life faster than I could counter/chip.

Am I doing something wrong? When factor works it works, but when your crratures are stuck on unfavourable board or opponent has removal then you just get behind really quickly if you're not lucky with topdecks.

Monoblue vs. Vampires: standard gameplan, but try to trade off their lifelinkers. Tempest Djinn is an important card for you since they can't easily attack through it. Legion Lieutenant is the #1 threat from them, if possible hold mana to counter it, if not then try to set up favourable blocks by disabling the +1/+1 effect with Merfolk Trickster when they attack. Failing all that, Sleep can still help you race.

That's been my exact experience as well. With some luck it can be nuts, but other times it pretty much sucks. GP Lille was probably won with good skills but still also quite some luck.

I spent the afternoon trying out a new deck: 5-color SuperGuildgateFriends. What a funky deck! Even with my limited collection its still a lot of janky fun.
When it gets going, oh man the value...
Funny thing is, in all the games I won, I haven't managed to do lethal damage yet. Opponents just seem to bail when the value train gets rolling...

A few weeks ago I played someone going 5C guildgate with Guild Summit and I believe a Mill wincon. I laughed it off early, but then after a bad streak, he actually won. Not saying it is a deck, but it was at least very interesting. It was mostly a control shell with guildgate shenanigans built in.
