Seems all very coin-flipish. I feel like I'm going on winning streaks as often as losing streaks (even after switching decks).
Luckily singleton is available again, but this time round it's not the push over it was after the wipe (I haven't one to 5 wins yet).

Weird because I did good but never great in Singleton before the wipe with my Angels. Maybe my Golgari is just superior, I don't know, but I just did 5 wins on my first try this time.

Another standard PTQ, another set of decks!

Link is here: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/tournament/ ... 8222#arena

11 Golgari decks in the top 15. No red decks in the top 10. Most played card: Merfolk Branchwalker.

What is this strange new world.

That looks like a very unusual meta. Where'd all the Boros decks go?

Golgari sure has loads of value and great removal. No surprise to me, singleton is infested with it (even I made a golgari singleton deck).

Notice the remorseful cleric in the mono-white list?

Haha, so people have found a way to not only play but to win with Golgari. That's also reflected in my recent records. There's a lot of Golgari and my win-% vs them gets worse. Seems to be a super-popular guild thematically. We also have 2 Brewing threads over in the Constructed subforum.

But looking only at the #1 deck, the successful approach is a rather boring one: Outvalue the opponent. No fancy Graveyard shenanigans, no big creatures, just a Chupacabra deck.. I kill your stuff and ping you to death with the body I got for free ;)

Except the ones playing tocatli honor guard (actually there was only a mono-white with 3 main-deck).

White actually has a few good golgari hate cards.

I have seen and played against WAY too many Merfolk decks recently.

I wish I had all the mythics for a boros angels deck... but unluckily I don't.

I have cards/wildcards for GW tokens/Stomp (4x Emmara, 2x Multitudes, might be a few rares short tho), GB rock (have 2x Izoni and 2x Demon already, short on some less cruucla rares) or mono red (would have to craft 4x Chainwhirler). I already have a full green stomp deck.

What would you guys advise to craft? I know golgari has great mtgo results, boros has won SCG Opens. I loved playing keld before rotation and have seen that some risk factor red decks are doing quite well. Nevertheless I'd rather discuss before dropping WCs on a deck that's going to be around 50% win :-/

Like Kryder I'm having great grinding in mono white for fairly cheap and Golgari has been a beast in Singleton.

Singleton is a no-brainer, just throw in all the mythics and rares you have in synergistic 3 colors (like naya) and you'll 6-0 anyway. Not a fan of random anyway, for me it's either limited or constructed.

Mono-White isn't competitive enough.

All I need for the Golgari deck is the lands. But it just isn't my cup of tea. I'll stick with Esper, hell or high water.

Yeah, that's what's holding me back on Golgari. I despise slow, grinding decks

I love gindy decks and slower non counter decks. But I'm going to hold off doing any big crafting until after the PT. The decks that are good now might fall off once that happens, people won't be sharing their best stuff yet and this PTQ is basically a bunch of people copying the deck that won the last one.

I hope that golgari is a great deck, and I'm sure some variation of it will be, but there's always a chance it gets murdered by some PT list. There's quite a few control decks in that PTQ list too. I'm gonna hold off spending wild cards just yet.

I still wish there was a way to break bigger wildcards for smaller ones. I have like 3 mythic wildcards and 0 rares, and all I want are some damn lands.

Yeah, that would be a nice option. And recrafting cards from collection. Who the **** needs 4x Naru Meha...

I think, that the ravnica is still unexplored. We might see some nice combo decks showing up at PT.

The Golgari pile is quite good, my Izzet deck has lots of problems dealing with it -I even had to SB 2 of those lands that lets you target Hexproof guys coz Tyrant is just GG most times-the Boros Angels deck just hate Chupalupas but its a pretty open match I would say its 50/50, Jeskai has little game to it also coz its sealing effects triggers ETB abilities. If the deck becomes dominant some form of Black based control will have to deal with it... Vert, I'm looking at your pile.

Esper is pretty well positioned with the meta slowing down. Obviously I wish the lands were all there for Orzhov and Azorius, but it's not too bad.

Or upgrade commons into uncommons into rares. What are all the common wildcards for anyway?

Not surprised BG made a strong showing. I was thinking it would. Any ideas on what beats it?
