Had a nice dimir deck crash out at 5-3 One game stuck on 3 lands at turn 7, the other game didn't draw any removal in the entire game - last 15 cards had 4 removal spells, chemister's insight and disinformation campaign. Feels bad.

Not sure if I like this format, seems really samey. The draft is so homogenous and all the games feel like repeats. Doesn't help that green and selesnya feel really weak unless you open a bunch of rares so pretty much all you see is dimir and boros with the very occasional bg. Don't think I'm a fan of guilds in draft, the next set'll probably be the same too.

I think the problem is that the bots really priotize Selesnya and often Izzet too, so I find I get way more Dimir or Golgari cards than anything else.

In fact, I don't think you'd be wrong to begin every deck priority picking Sultai.

Did you get to put out Etrata? I got one of her as npc just haven't built a deck to use her in yet. I suppose she is a huge removal target.

Crashed and burn!!! that beautiful pile went against Doom Whisperer and the BBUU Hexproff guy... I had my engine going vs Whisperer but nothing he could not handle and the UUBB guy was just impossible to deal... ended 3-3 I believe
The format is not as easy as you would think there are tons of intricate interactions... I like it so far

Literally my first ever draft, first picked Hypothesizzle into Crackling Drake and never left Izzet even when I had to P1P3 Izzet Guildgate. Ben Stark wasn't kidding when he said most players are on easy mode

Need six cuts, can anyone with more experience in the format advise? There's one more card not shown in the 2-drop slot, a Sure Strike. Among the splash cards the only one of note is Conclave Tribunal; I also have a Boros Guildgate if I want to splash that.



I'm thinking it looks like an aggressive deck so -Hellkite -Command the Storm -Devious Cover Up -Izzet Locket but then need two more cuts and I dunno what to drop, perhaps Maniacal Rage since there appears to be a lot of removal?

I'm surprised I got a Gird for Battle 2nd last pick. That card looks like a high pick, it's two power for 1 mana, and it's permanent too. I passed on a Beamsplitter Mage at one point as well in favour of Command the Storm. At the time my only two single-target spells were Maximize Altitude and Sure Strike, dunno if that card is actually good.

I don't think the mage is good to be honest... I would remove one Dazzling light and one maximize altitude

I went 7-2 with a Boris pile... and it felt quite good... fast starts, evasion, and cheap tricks... easy peasy!
Cosmotronic Wave overperformed big time!

The final build I went with to a quick 7-1. Loss was to a solid curve out from a GW deck after keeping a hand I probably should've mull'd. Definitely should have gone even lower to the ground, Blaze was always dead in hand.

Went 5-3. Damn, I probably could've won the last game by playing Maniacal Rage on my opponent's Doom Whisperer, but it never entered my head. I might've overreacted as well to the Doom Whisperer - yes I couldn't attack into it, but it's not like he could attack back either. Damn damn damn.

Next draft: is Omnispell Adept worth P1P1? If I don't take the Omnispell Adept, the next-best card is probably Swarm Guildmage.

I did it. Starting out thursday night this was my second draft and I got it to 4-0 then. Now I won 3 more for my first 7-0 draft. And look at those rare-picks.. I'm not letting those go to waste

Of course, in a Phantom Draft P1P1 wouldn't be Menagerie over Boros Challenger.. and P2P1 Niv Mizzet never had a chance to make the deck, but..

Also, Abzhan are the colors I'm most interested in for Constructed.



Game 4 was the one big show of this deck. I faced Dimir and it's Mythic Uncommon Distasteful Campaign along with a Nightveil Sprite early in the game. This specific threat was handled by Harpooner and a million surveils later he was close to decking himself. His 1-power flier wouldn't have been able to finish my ~14 life but then he got Nightveil Predator with 7 cards left in his library. But then I got Mephitic Vapors(!) and attacked into him with my 2 2/2 Vigilance tokens and yes, he did go for it

He still got close when he used Artful Takedown and his House Guildmage to kill one creature and lock down my Conclave Cavalier and attack on the ground, but with no foreseeable targets on his side, I used the Collar the Culprit I'd been holding the entire game to sacrifice her and double block his Darkblade Agent with her children. That was the final curtain.

Underrealm Lich only had one appearance in game 7, but he was instrumental in winning that game. MVPs have been Vivid Revival (P1P2) and Find // Finality. Honorable mention to Flower // Flourish.

Oh and turned out to be a very good call to pick the Ironshell Beetles over Grappling Sundew. Could've had/run 2 of either.

Notable omissions: 3x Mephitic Vapors, Muse Drake, another Pilfering Imp, another Burglar Rat, 2x Veiled Shade, 2 more counters and Vivid Revival, which I would've liked to splash but decided against given all the card advantage I already had.

I swapped in 1 Mephitic Vapors for Thought Erasure for 2 games after losing to Boros but ended up swapping back.

I just went 7-2 with Grixis, but damn was it a surprise after being 1-2. Crappy pile as I was raredrafting. Just couldn't pass on the march of multitudes ;-)

Kinda tired of draft Ravnica. Anybody knows when the Dominaria draft comes?

Started this draft 1-2 then rebounded to a 7-2. Swapped in Circuitous Route for Intrusive Packbeast after my first loss, it fit the plan quite a bit better and made Vraska and my high cost creatures more accessible. First loss was with Vraska in hand with no black sources - after that, I was able to cast her the three games I saw her and lost none of them. Highlight of the run was game 7 (4-2 record) on the draw against Boros - cast Vraska on curve to remove Opp's Boros Challenger enchanted by both Maniacal Rage and Candlelight Vigil. He conceded on the spot.

Drafted this for tomorrow, thoughts? Got two Vigorspore Wurms, a fifth Vernadi Shieldmate, Gatekeeper Gargoyle, Crushing Canopy, and Golgari Raiders in the sideboard. I find it amusing that all my Shieldmates can help fix for Tribunal and Loxodon.

God, what I lost to. Got stuck as izzet at 3 mana, but my opponent cast the destroy target creature with flying (my altituded) banesplitter. Then I got him to 2 life with dragonauts, tapped his pilfering imp wih sonic, opponent is tapped out and I swing for the win (I'm dead next turn) and he covokes the new root-snare. WHAAAAT, who the **** plays that?:D

Don't mention it. Sometimes it feels like these cards exist solely to make their opponents angry. I drafted what looked like a reasonable Boros deck, then went 1-3, first game to an opponent with Mephitic Vapors + Wall of Mist + various high-toughness creatures, second game to maindeck Crushing Canopy when I was already flooding out with my 15-land deck. Third loss was to a non-visible timer LOL

On the other hand, there's a cost for running these sideboard cards main. I played against an opponent with maindeck Sorcerous Spyglass in constructed, he had literally nothing to name except Siren Stormtamer. Yeah, take it.

Just dtafted my 1st boros, gotta love cosmotronic wave with all the small blokes and gravitic punch on hammer dropper. Risk factor is just icing ;-)
