I'm guessing it happened with everyone and I'm not just some weird exception but after the wipe I still had all my wildcards. I had one mythic left and spent it on a Respendent Angel and put it in the giveme White deck and have gone 5/5 so far last night. Might end up sinking some money into the game in the next week or two but I tell you this, the rotation pissed me off. I really wanted to rebuild my Power Kitties deck.

Hehe, I also wanted to try those Cats, but last I played, my Vault was at 97%.

1 Mythic wildcard is apparently given to everyone. Can't give figures for the other rarities for I already collected a few wildcards of those. Not sure if I should spend any wildcard already. Might regret that later, though it's obviously the right call from an economic perspective.

I basically rebuilt my pre-rotation boros deck and it's been smashing face so far. I started out with quite a few GRN and just cut most until I was close to my original list, minus the cards that rotated out. I'll post the list in my boros deck wins thread.

The Boros mentor piles or the mono-red Keld decks I´m facing seems a bit fragile to the size of creatures Green can drop or the cheaper sweepers, I don't think those piles are going to make it in the long run.

Jeskai and Izzet are looking pretty sexy ATM, the new Izzet cards are performing quite good... against me LOL

My deck can go wide faster than green can go tall.
I just played against a green deck that went T1 pelt collector into T3 Steel leaf, into T4 brontodon + llanowar, into T5 steal leaf and I still wrecked him.
You've just got to be fearless and keep applying the pressure. My deck is always the beatdown.
I believe mentor is a trap. The only good mentor cards are warboss, tajic and Aurelia (and I'm not playing Aurelia). Mentor cards want you to play small creatures, but push the curve into mid-range territory. Also, they're not terribly good at surviving combat, so you have to focus on ways on keeping your board growing.

I had my mythic, 3 rares, 10 uncommons and 30 commons left after the wipe.

Thoughts on Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma? Just opened it in one of my bundle packs. Looks like a good card for green stompy to me.
What do you think?

Dies to Lightning Strike...:P

It is pretty solid, IMO. Giving a boost to your bigger attackers (in that deck it should be most of them) and trample is no joke.

Probably one of the first cards I'd cut but definitely something that I'd use.

So far, I started with Boros, and was wrecking people for a while, then I started hitting the good control decks, and I was coming up just short. Did have a T4 kill though that was pretty fun. I am guessing I settled around 60%? But started much higher and started to go down, so the deck I made is probably not a 60% deck. I did get the combo I was trying a few times, and that was fun, and overall, Steam Kin was just gold for me.

I switched to Izzet and had a bit better luck, but still didn't feel right for me. Green was tough if I remember right.

Ended up with my original plan of Jeskai control, and went 7-2 followed by 3-3.

I saw a lot of mono red and mono green. A fair amount of Golgari (Which either were a push over or very tough), Izzet spells, Jeskai Control, Azorius Control and Dimir control (No real Grixis though, which was a surprise). A bit of Boros, but slim compared to Mono red. The one deck I was expecting was White Tokens, but it really wasn't something I encountered.

I really didn't see any decks that really blew me away yet. Golgari may have a chance to be new and powerful, but most the rest felt similar to what we have been playing before, just with different tools. No nexus decks though, which kind of surprised me. I was also expecting some Gruul with Unsealings, but none so far.

Talking about Unsealings, Gore Claw is quite good in that pile, I used to run it in my build... 2 copies seemed to be correct.
@Windervoid you had any Niv Mizzets in your build, I´m curious about that card...
So far the Warboss has underperformed I had 1 copy of him in my Angels deck but no real targets for him to mentor.... the 1/1 is meh and Tajic is so much better with haste and the first strike ability...
How has Ral performed in your Izzet pile?

I faced a nice GB deck with small vraska, izoni, the 6/6 demon etc. Grindy, but a nice toolbox. The 3cmc golgari enchantment is nice, especially if you slam it on a ravenous chupacabra and then sac it to izoni.

Niv has been decent, but I am only running 1. It has been best vs control. Generally I always get a few cards off it and a few points through at the very least. Not sure if there are any games that it outright won, but there have been a few where it seemed to turn the tide. On the other hand, it can be a pain to get out at times with the casting costs.

In Jeskai I am running 2 Ral 2 Telfari, and TBH, it is closer in usefulness then I originally thought. Telfari wins because he untaps 2, but other then that, there are times I wanted Ral for removal instead of Telfari's. The fact that Ral only goes down to 2 instead of 1 when you use his removal power has come into play, as well as him ultimating 1 turn earlier. I was tied to Jeskai mainly for Telfari and Clarion, but Ral has done well enough I am thinking of switching to Grixis.

Niv in action

If he sticks around, he can win games.

Mono white aggro is super strong. I went and did a constructed run and went 7-0.
It's consistent, can win from out of nowhere, flexible (has game against every deck I faced, from other aggro, midrange to control), a nightmare to race against because of the life gain and the mana is better than boros.
I'm playing a go-wide version that suddenly goes wide and tall (list is in kryder's thread in the constructed sub-forum).
I kind of want to try something else, but I'm out of uncommon WCs.
Think I'm gonna try mono-red (my singleton deck has been a farming machine!), Just to see how gimped it ends up compared to the pre-rotation version.

Mono red is actually quite strong with the draw3/deal damage spell. And it has flashback, so unnecessary mountains can easily get used in a better way.

I built this and it´s quite impressive, Risk factor is HUUUUGE here, I have another one with a goblins subtheme but I don't have most of the key pieces

Flame Factor

4 The Flame of Keld (DAR) 123
19 Mountain (RIX) 195
4 Risk Factor (GRN) 113
4 Legion Warboss (GRN) 109
3 Fanatical Firebrand (RIX) 101
4 Goblin Banneret (GRN) 102
4 Shock (M19) 156
4 Lightning Strike (M19) 152
2 Goblin Chainwhirler (DAR) 129
4 Ghitu Lavarunner (DAR) 127
4 Viashino Pyromancer (M19) 166
4 Wizard's Lightning (DAR) 152

I'd probably play -2 keld +2 chain. Double keld sucks and you can replenish with risk. Risk is awesome as the biggest problem of flame red was going out of gas or flooding. Risk factor solves both issues.

And why no kin? 4x Kin is a must :-)

I have a feeling that izzet/jeskai counterburn might be a real deck (splashing Teferi and 4 Clarion and running maybe a couple niv mizzet and some number of crackling drakes and risk factor). It's going to have some rough matchups, but I have a feeling from playing the singleton version that it'll be surprisingly effective and have some very favourable matchups as well - if people are going to be durdling around with Findbroker/sagas they're going to have a really bad time against near-creatureless burn.

I'm also interested in jeskai control, the cards all seem to be there, I'm thinking that maybe it'll be the premier control deck this meta. The question that's bugging me is if someone will find a way to make Nexus work in that shell.

Unfortunately the land requirements mean I'm a long way off trying either. Bring on guilds quick draft plox!

I'm missing a ton of cards, but I went ahead and made a mono-red deck.

Wow, it rocks!

4 Ghitu Lavarunner (DAR) 127
23 Mountain (RIX) 195
1 Goblin Banneret (GRN) 102
4 Shock (M19) 156
2 Rigging Runner (XLN) 157
4 Lightning Strike (M19) 152
2 Runaway Steam-Kin (GRN) 115
4 Viashino Pyromancer (M19) 166
2 Goblin Chainwhirler (DAR) 129
3 Legion Warboss (GRN) 109
3 Risk Factor (GRN) 113
4 Wizard's Lightning (DAR) 152
2 Rekindling Phoenix (RIX) 111
2 Siege-Gang Commander (DAR) 143

Runaway steamkin is so much fun!
Pump him up, then use the mana to cast risk factors. So much value!

Anyway, my mono-white deck should be banned. It doesn't lose. I actually feel guilty playing it. It has an 89% win-rate atm.
I won a game against a control deck that cast settle the wreckage 3 or 4 times, plus a cleansing nova, multiple sealed-aways... It was just nuts, but I always had the upper hand. So sweet!

With so many goblins you should try Warchief... he has been great in my Goblins Keld deck, haste and reduced mana cost are fun!... I even have one Volley veteran there... and man its fun casting a horde of hasty goblins.
Runaway Steam-kin sounds nuts to me and he is probably the core of the new RDW... too bad I have 0 copies of him... :(
