So, here's my 1st draft deck which went 7-2.

I had Assassin's Trophy and Tajic, but decided to go with the Grixis colors due to good commons/uncommons. This deck really was fun to play, the 2 fumbles were due to flooding in game 1 (and a minor missplay) and getting a slow start against a really strong GBx Undergrowth deck.

I got 4 lands as my rares, went Jeskai. I won 2, got 2 losses due a weird disconnect bug and lost the last one when my spells matters deck, drew 0 spells.

Yeah, I had the same problem in g1 with grixis. Opponent at 6 life and I couldn't push through, even though 1/3 of my deck were spells.

Haven't played since the first day after the wipe. Haven't even played since I bought my starter bundle. How much is Sealed and do we get more than the standard 6 boosters since Arena boosters have less cards?

Sealed is 2.000 gems each, but you get 6 15-card packs to build your deck from and are guaranteed at least 3 Arena packs as prizes (plus gems depending on how many wins you end up with).

Cool! I bought the welcome pack so I have enough gems!
I was pretty damn good at the Sealed in DOTP 2014. I know it's technically not the same, as in the powerful card pool, that it is in Arena but I was pretty damn good at building strong decks.
Is it set up like draft to where you can stop in the middle of cracking packs and making decks if you get sidetracked and have to put the game down?
I'm assuming so. If so, I'm going to start now before my son finishes the dishes.
Told him if he did them and did them good we would go over to the St. Louis Science Center and do some 360 flight simulators.
Expensive fun but they are true, enclosed 360 simulators designed by Boeing!
If I remember right it's $8.00 for 5 minutes.

Sealed is worth it. At 6 wins you get 2000gems +3 packs. So to go infinite you need 6+ wins, but it' A LOT fun.

I'm waiting for GRN Draft. That'll be 750 gems for 3 15-card-packs and 1 guaranteed 8-card-pack. Better rate considering that you can get even more Rares.

What a spectacular fumble for the sultai deck... finished at 2-3, not very lucky and the deck didn't just work with the support cards :-(

I went 6-3 with a Naya Zoo deck with only Knight of Autumn as a rare. It was a BAD deck, but did solid just with threat density.

Actually yah, I'm going to save my gems and get in on draft instead. Better collection progression.

I jumped back into Arena at weekend following the reboot (credit to CGB for his YouTube update). I had been planning to wait for full release on Mac platform but the Guilds of Ravnica hype and realising it’s better to be “in” than “out” was best to jump back in!

I finally purchased the welcome bundle and agree it is decent value for money given what you get in comparison to the cost of a single booster pack in paper!

I have unlocked just the one deck (over the starting 5 mono decks) and build a golgari and Izzet deck. Golgari is the most competitive so far. In addition though spent most of weekend taking advantage of the free Singleton event with a grixis build. Had some decent rewards with 3 booster packs and some decent ICR’s too.

I tried the sealed events a few times pre wipe but fared badly. I guess the fact you keep the packs regardless but can break even or better if you win sufficiently is certainly encouraging.

Was wondering therefore on a recommendation for best site for limited sealed events, preferably we based to read rather than YouTube a la Legend VD style, although I “think” I know the fundamentals my previous results show otherwise. One thing I have read is that a good knowledge of the sets is important and I think Cucho has a few threads I can check out. Any advice on good sites or links would be appreciated. SD

Well you can read something about every card here:
https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/guilds-of-ravnica-limited-set-review-artifacts-lands-and-guild-ranking/

And here's a page with community rankings (will change all the time):
http://www.draftaholicsanonymous.com/p1p1-guilds-of-ravnica/

The format is young but the top picks already seem plausible. To me, that is.

Depending on your rares it's usually splashing izzet or dimir. Both guilds are awesome. Just try to compiment the mechanics.

I find that for me personally the best way to learn how to draft a new set is by watching the more prolific drafters on Twitch and learning from their experiences - you get the entire draft process, their thoughts as they draft and then the games. CalebD and Numot are my go-to since they play a lot of magic and post good draft results, there's also LSV and Gabriel Nassif though they stream less. And all of these guys have drafted on the pro tour at some point, Numot only once admittedly.

Semulin is another, albeit smaller, streamer who specialises in draft and now plays MTGA exclusively. He has a different approach to drafting than mine so I find watching him very interesting.

Cheers AD2016 - certainly watching as you say the thought process in someone building helps a lot. I will check out some of those guys, in particular the Arena guys as Legend VD I have only seen using MTGO for his drafts. This is also sealed which is slightly different from drafting but similar principles for building from a limited pool. SD

I'd also save my gems for quick draft btw :D

I got the welcome bundle but I'm not blowing it on one sealed event. I'd much rather do 3 quick drafts (and have change) since that mitigates RNG a great deal. The sealed is pretty much set up so you can only go again if you get max wins wheras out of 3 drafts it's very likely you'll get a 4th draft out of it and there's a decent chance of getting 5+. Supplimenting this with the gold I'll have built up by then I'm expecting to have 8? drafts lined up. At that point it's up to me to play well and turn that into as many drafts as possible, it just seems a much better deal than the very expensive sealed (as well as being a lot more gameplay).

Importantly you also get some choice to the cards you pull.

How does the collection work for cards you draft? I assume you keep all the cards that were in your draft pool right? They also set drafts for specific sets right like Dominaria? Would be good therefore to draft in Guilds of Ravnica assuming that’s available (pretty sure it would be). Also great point on influencing the cards you select. SD
