I'm shocked by how FEW Jump-Start cards we've gotten so far. Feels like Surveil outnumbers them 10:1.

Magic's a simple game, 2 people take turns playing cards and in the end Divinevert wins 2-0...

Agreed. Jump-Start looked really good until they started spoiling them. I'm hoping they saved the best for last with them. So far, only the draw 2 for 3U looks any good. The rest not so much.

We start talking about Jump-Start cards and they release a new one...

+1/+1 with Haste for R isn't bad, just not exciting.

Adding Jump-Start really doesn't change that...just makes a meh card, meh +1. At least it complicates combat maths.

Watcher in the Mist - 5 mana 3/4 flyer with Surveil 2 isn't all that constructed playable, but a fine card for limited.

Creeping Chill - 3B for a drain life for 3 isn't great nor is it bad. Surveiling it into the graveyard and doing it for free sounds entertaining to say the least.

Surveil has turned out to be the best mechanic out of this set IMO...hands down. I'd love to see the last 1/2 of this set come out and prove me wrong, but those cards would have to be totally busted.

Enhanced surveillance actually makes it better! Damn you could dig away through your deck in no time with that. With the spybug and the 1-drop wall, you can probably make a funky playable deck around surveil.
Dimir looks to be the most standard playable, izzet and boros look a little Johnny ATM. Golgari looks decent, but needs some pieces still to top dimir. Selesnya looks like mostly jank imo.

I just saw spybug...wow, Dimir is looking quite good overall and by far the best Guild in the set, at least at this point in time.

Izzet still needs some pieces but is if they have some good jump-start cards not yet revealed then it could be a contender. Boros is looking very aggressive, though countered by Selesnya (which otherwise isn't looking too good). Other that the lich and Assassin's Trophy I am not too excited about straight Golgari yet.

Enhanced Surveillance is pretty busted. Not sure if it takes Search for Azcanta's spot in a deck, but it might. Very strong abilities.

Disinformation Campaign looks like a card you might SB in. Repeatable discard effects are pretty spicy, though non-targeted pretty much means it won't see much play.

Lotleth Giant- Probably the best payoff card we have from Golgari right now. Could be the top-end finisher for a Golgari deck, but I'm not sold on that.

Ledev Guardian - a 2/4 Knight for 3W, even with Convoke, is a bad deal. It seems WotC added mana to Convoke spells and kept Surveil spells pretty much the same cost as they normally would be.

Loxodon Restorer - This card pretty much looks like the last card, Ledev Guardian. A 3/4 for 4WW with Convoke is just bad, even with the 4 life tacked on. Especially compared to the much more playable Knight of Autumn which gives you choices with its CiP effect.

Piston-Fist Cyclops - 3 mana for a 4/3 wall would be bad, but the ability to attack by casting instants/sorceries makes this at least a decent card. Still not great though.

The problem with Jump-Start is that Izzet's planeswalker suggests it should be control-y, but it's not. Every card is built around some form of Izzet Tempo, which I guess would be a version of the Wizards deck that carries forward.

The problem is that it's tempo isn't high enough or fast enough to stay ahead of control's tempo, especially as black gets 4cc sweeper that would blow them out. Grixis is quickly becoming Sultai or Esper (Esper being Dimir splashing white for Teferi).

The black sweeper might be a trap, sure that it will hose most current aggro decks, hell if we had it now RDW wouldn't be so strong, but there are a considerable amount of quality 4 drops that it won't touch. Sure you can always save vraska's contempt for those, but I don't know... It will sure push a lot of decks to up the curve (like golden demise did to push 3 toughness and then eventually disappear from decks).

Got to agree with vert, izzet is lacking control cards (not that that is bad, because I wouldn't really enjoy UW control just migrating to Jeskai), except maybe for the super magma-spray. But I've already been playing izzet tempo and I like it, but haven't seen any good etb effects on wizards to further break naban, which saddens me...
It's more like they're pushing izzet spells, which is a deck I had side-lined, but I'll be messing with, because... well... Lady Jaya likes her spells.

Yeah, at the current rate it looks like Standard will be a Dimir fest and you get to choose whether to splash for Green (Vraska and Assassin's Trophy), Red (Nicol Bolas and maybe a good Jumpstarter) or White (basically Teferi)

Artifact hate, plus Manalith is not really playable in Constructed.

I was just thinking, maybe the high pricing on the convoke stuff is just anti-soot tech?
Btw, they just spoiled a really bad red uncomon: book devourer 6cc 4/5 trample that lets you discard your hand and draw the same amount if you do combat damage to op. Candidate for worst card so far?

Nah, Convoke cards have mostly been overpriced IIRC. Soot is good because it can deal with most of the faster decks early plays and then allow black-based decks to trade 1 for 1 with the more dangerous stuff.

Book Devourer is interesting. Way too costly to be constructed viable but the abillity is interesting. As far as worst card, I don't know. We got Midnight Reaper going hard for that title. /s

Honestly, Loxodon Restorer is arguably worse, but in the end they are both bad cards.

Sultai looks solid -Dimir with a splash of green for Assasins Trophy, win with Doom whisperer GY shenanigans and value.
Grixis is decent and you still have Bolas and Ral as win cons + the mana base is solid
Izzet spells might work... not T1 but I think the deck could have an appearance, if you could land Niv Mizzet and untap is game over.
Boris Angels could actually work
Boris Aggro looks solid and fast enough at first glance.
Jeskai as in Izzet with the white splash for Teferi seems quite good too, you got 2 PW that cares for control, and a whole bunch of answers.
Mono green looks T1
Goblins might just be there
Flame of Keld looks solid too.
+ I´m sure there is a combo deck still hidden that will be T1

New selesnya card spoiled "shield joint". Looks like a pretty good limited card, that can lead to some real blow-outs but at 5cc is probably too expensive for standard. Could be a sideboard card vs sweepers, but holding up 5 mana for that isn't realistic.

Sprouting renewal looks odd. 3cc for an overcosted vigilant bear or destroy an artifact or enchantment. Also has convoke... Why not give both effects? Rec sage does...

Split card assurance // association. Either a 2cc would-be blossoming defense replacement (with a +1/+1 counter and indestructible instead of hexproof) or a 6cc make 3 bodies spell (where's convoke on that one?). Again, looks like a strong limited card and meh for constructed.

Looking through the cards already spoiled, I can see a sultai surveil deck with most of the the pieces, splashing green for a reanimation side-plan and trophy. Looks pretty strong. If there was a ravnica block format, dimir would straight up be the best, but I have a feeling that in ravnica limited, all those meh selesnya cards are probably very good.

With all the surveil going there might be a Nexus of fate combo in the Dimir colors or Esper for the Teferi ultimate.
Edit: Also mono white is looking quite strong

"Beacon of Lightning"
1UR
Sorcery
Beacon of Lightning deals damage to target creature equal to the total number of instant and sorcery cards you own in exile and in your graveyard.
Jump-start (You may cast this card from your graveyard by discarding a card in addition to paying its other costs. Then exile this card.)

Jump-Start keeps on disappointing... Not only is it sorcery speed, on top it's just creature, they could have at least slammed planeswalkers on top. Of course any target would be over the top.

New dimir "spectre" spoiled.
A 3cc 2/2 flyer that does a gonti-like effect whenever it damages opponent. Looks decent, definitely a removal magnet that can get out of hand if opponent is lacking answers.
Really strong limited card and potentially constructed playable. Only slightly worse than gonti because the effect isn't guaranteed on etb, but you can hypothetically use it multiple times. Could find a home in grixis midrange.

Oh my...

They've printed another glorious end type card for boros...
Why? Lichmastery combo? The card is so narrow that it'll never be playable.
