I really don't think Chainer's Torment is even playable. It doesn't impact the board, and it puts too much faith in that one big creature at the end which doesn't even have any special abilities. If opponent has flyers out for example Chainer's Tormetn might be literally unplayable. I also stand by running 16 lands + 2 Opts - just cannot afford to flood with such a low-power deck.

New pile went 4-3. Deck felt quite average. Saprolings + Thallid Omnivore is a good combo, as is Saprolings + Shalai, but the deck had too much chaff to really be good. I guess it's better than the UW deck, but only barely. 4-3 record had me getting crushed one game by mana screw, and another by a mulligan to five. There was one really sweet mill deck I ran into, which almost worked as well. I had 2 cards left (opponent had ~20) when my Thorn Elemental attacked through his chumpers for lethal. Marwyn was better than Llanowar Scout, since she actually produces mana while Scout is just a 1/3. Too bad she didn't live long enough in the game I mana screwed in. Scout did ramp me to Thallid Omnivore one game, but that was the only time its ability was useful.

Even newer pile:

2 x Fungal Infection
1 x Shivan Fire

1 x Ghitu Chronicler
1 x Vicious Offering
1 x Jaya's Immolating Inferno

1 x Deathbloom Thallid
1 x Goblin Chainwhirler
1 x Soul Salvage

1 x Eviscerate
1 x Thallid Omnivore
1 x Whisper, Blood Liturgist
3 x Rampaging Cyclops
1 x Dark Bargain

1 x Windgrace Acolyte
1 x Firefist Adept
1 x Garna, the Bloodflame

1 x Demonlord Belzenlok
1 x Urgoros, the Empty One
1 x Kazarov, Sengir Pureblood

+18 lands. Cards in sideboard are lots of vanilla 2/2's (both red and black), Fervent Strike, Ghitu Journeymage, Run Amok.

Do you guys think I should swap something for the 2/2's, and if so, what? I'm actually considering going to 19 lands because the deck looks extremely mana hungry.

My reasoning for Scout over Marwyn is that I rather have a 1/3 for 2 than a 1/1 for 3. Rules text of both doesn't really matter imo. But that decision won't seal the fate of your deck.

The new deck looks nice at first glance, but I'm afraid you can get run over fast with only 1 2-drop and 1 3-drop (not counting Chainwhirler for its RRR cost). You have plenty of removal, which is nice, but only Shivan Fire and Vicious Offering can reliably kill threats on T1-3.

If you hold out to 4 mana with an even or empty board, you have a good shot, might still go either way though.

Several options of which none is really appealing.

Some combination of Cyclops, Whisper (+ leg Sorcery) the Firefist Adept and the Windgrace Acolyte.

I'd bring 2 bears.

I've tapped out on Dominaria. I'm just holding my coins and gems until we get a new set to draft.

Went 6-3. Firefist Adept was not good (too few wizards) and I cut it, as well as a Rampaging Cyclops, for the 2/2s. The deck felt very strong, and I was 6-0 before I lost three games, one to an equally strong B/R deck (he had Verix Bladewing, Josu Vess and ways to recur them), one to a R/W aggro deck (I was one turn away from stabilizing), and the last to a tricolor green deck where I kept a 2-lander on the play and didn't get there. Maybe I really shouldn't keep 2-landers even on the play, even with three 2-mana cards in hand (Chronicler Vicious Offering Goblin). I dunno. He blew me out with Wild Onslaught, which I perhaps should've seen coming.

Next pile started with a Sporecrown Thallid with me thinking I'll draft the B/G Saprolings deck, then pick 2 Firefist Adept in case U/R wizards was open, ended up with just a straight R/G deck lol. I got a P3P3 Skittering Surveyor this time, first time I've seen that card so late. Also drafted a Shalai, which I'll splash with the Surveyor + a Grow from the Ashes, and an On Serra's Wings. Not sure how good On Serra's Wings is. Splash it or no? If it matters, my deck's short removal.

Depends on the deck, in the dark I'd lean no.
Wings is best in UW or WB where either Historic/Legendary matters or you can enchant Turtle with it. Without these, the card's playable but a lot less exciting. Green creatures like it if they're big though (if you go wide rather than tall I'd probably not run it)

I'd say definitely yes to the wings if you can make the mana solid, especially with shalai to help protect the target. Those things turn around games you have no business winning.

I'm currently in a BW crap deck with one where it's helped a ton without any historic stuff at all. It's that and a Forebears Blade and mediocre to bad small creatures. 6-2 so far with both losses down to variance. Also, the more I play this format the more respect I gain for Shield of the Realm- Mesa Unicorn with a shield and a blade has given me two wins singlehandedly.

Well I ran with On Serra's Wings + 2 plains, never drew the enchantment but did color screw myself with the two plains several times. 4-3. Maybe it would've been better not to run it.

Also Muldrotha, the Gravetide is such a miserable card. Like, at least make it act like The Scarab God and exile the creature each time it's re-cast. I played against this guy with two of these and although I would attack with a 20/20 Gruun, he'd just chump and recur Krosan Druid for an extra 10 life each time. What the hell. At 6/6, it's bigger than Fiery Intervention or Shivan Fire range, too. By the time I finally managed to remove the two Muldrothas (itself not an easy task, since he had over 50 life and I could not make him block), he had drawn Slimefoot and was able to drain me out. Such a miserable game, I feel like I outplayed him too.

Yep; if you have the mana for Muldrotha she will bury the opponent in card advantage. There's better cards than her, but not many.

And, for you complaining about double Muldrotha, I'll raise you _three_ Tatyova. Plus Eldest Reborn, Muldrotha (only 1 copy though) and some other busted cards I'm forgetting. I have no idea how my opponent hot that deck together.

Those are uncommons though! Muldrotha is a mythic.

Here's a pile I'm not sure how to build. I was so excited to first pick Skittering Surveyor into second pick Skittering Surveyor, but then followed a succession of weak packs. A late Sporecrown Thallid made me try the B/G Saprolings deck, but few other saproling cards came. It was looking dire until pack 3 gave me Slimefoot, Multani & Zahid. Now what?

1 x Opt
1 x Arbor Armament
1 x Adventurous Impulse

1 x Corrosive Ooze
1 x Vodalian Arcanist
1 x Cabal Evangel
1 x Sporecrown Thallid
1 x Vicious Offering
1 x Jousting Lance

1 x Deathbloom Thallid
1 x Yamivaya Sapherd
1 x Slimefoot, the Stowaway
1 x Aesthir Glider
2 x Skittering Surveyor
2 x Deep Freeze
1 x Grow from the Ashes

2 x Thallid Omnivore
1 x Dark Bargain

1 x Cloudreader Sphinx
1 x Weight of Memory
1 x The Mending of Dominaria
1 x Blessed Light
1 x Sentinel of the Pearl Trident

1 x Zahid, Djinn of the Lamp
1 x Multani, Yamivaya's Avatar
1 x Primordial Wurm

Other playables in green, black, white and blue: Dub, Arcane Flight, Tolarian Scholar, Relic Runner, Stronghold Confessor, Feral Abomination, Guardians of Koilos

I'm thinking tricolor and skip the Blessed Light?

That's what you get for prioritizing the means to splash over actual cards that you want to splash for :)

You seem to be lacking a few playables to go straight BG. I would like to splash for Blessed Light but a single card really isn't much. So go for the BGu deck and include the Stronghold Confessor, that's a nice card.

Pretty much what Sol said. Go BGu (the Zahid splash is made easy by 2 Skittering Surveyors and Grow, both of which can cast Zahid on their own), add Stronghold Confessor (4 mana 3/3 menace is absolutely okay and you can use another 4). The Blessed Light splash is possible IMO, but makes your mana worse; it's one point to consider and possibly comes down to personal preference.

I would almost certainly always cut:
-Aesthir Glider. Zahid is literally the only synergy in this deck and that's not worth running a mediocre card for; your other 3-drops are leagues ahead of it, and it doesn't forward your gameplan at all.
-Opt, Vodalian Arcanist, Sentinel of the Pearl Trident, Weight of Memory. We want to cut down the Blue splash; all of these cards are not very splashable or have too little impact if splashed for.
-Arbor Armament. I think you're good on defense against fliers and a +1/+1 counter is not worth a card on most of your creatures.

Including the Stronghold Confessor we should now be at 24 cards; the last two cuts IMO should be between Cabal Evangel, Primordial Wurm, Blessed Light and one Deep Freeze. Cabal Evangel and Primordial Wurm are our worst creatures by far and the deck would work without either one of them. Blessed Light needs to be splashed for and makes the deck's mana a lot worse, but having access to a hard removal spell has value. If you decide to splash for Blessed Light, your manabase should be 8-7-2-1 (instead of 8-7-3), which makes your Blue splash slightly less reliable; that would be the main reason to consider cutting one Deep Freeze to trim the splash even further.

I'm having an awful session. Went 2-3 and 0-3 with two quite mediocre, bomb-light but removal-heavy decks..

First just lost three in a row to mana (despite being only two-colored) and the latter was simply overrun by bigger stuff..

This deck was amazing:

You don't see my P1P1 and P1P2: 2x Cloudreader Sphinx. Verix was actually a pick 2, wonder what went wrong there with the AI. This was the most glorious moment:

And then it failed me. What you see is the end of the third game to make it 3-0. After that I lost 2 to decks with a similar power level. First was probably my fault, second was just a shame: My t4 Grunn (double Llanowar Scout activation) was answered by his t4 Verix who killed me before I could get through chump blocks with Grunn. Note to self: Grunn really isn't that great without Evasion. Last game I just failed to draw Swamps.

If the AI is not in red and the pack is strong, they'll pick cards over Verix. Had one handed to me pack 2 pick 3 (I believe, could've been 4) in one of my more recent drafts.

That said, I was quite surprised how often I'd just cast it for 4 mana.

Oh heck yeah. Air Elemental for 4 is serious business.

Has a huge impact t4. I had only very few outs to deal with it and after he Dubbed it, even the Candle that I did draw after that didn't help anymore. In that game, it was simply Mythic >> Uncommon :D

I don't agree with the AI picking stuff over Verix though. Not in P2P1. What kind of player would do that? Yes, there are a few super Uncommons in Dominaria (Icy Manipulator, In Bolas's Clutches, Tatyova).. but no. With a bomb of that magnitude P2P1 I can still at least splash it. And I'm not touching the fact that players would rare-pick it for their collection.

That being said, in the game that I mis-piloted, I held Verix in hand for the last ~5 turns with only 1 Mountain in play - so much for the splashability :D
Maybe I should've run the second Compass despite all the hate it gets.

If by P2P1 you mean pack 2 pick 1, it's certainly possible. P1P2 however - I would totally slam Verix. Your deck looks quite strong but I'm skeptical about the red splash, which seems to weaken your mana base for two cards. They're great cards of course, but you're running Compass to enable them (not a good card) and you will lose some games to color screw. I would be more keen to splash the two Cloudreader Sphinxes instead of Verix, especially if you had other playables (Gaea's Protector and Llanowar Scout are both pretty bad too).

Also, the 4-color "monstrosity" went 7-2! Both lost games were to aggro decks. One of them had Knight of Malice into white permanent and had emptied his hand by turn 5; the other had Time of Ice with Master of the Pearl Trident to keep all my blockers tapped. I would've stabilized against the first deck if he didn't have removal for my turn 4 Zahid, but he did. The remaining games all went smoothly. I was worried about the 4-color manabase, but two Skittering Surveyor, Adventurous Impulse and Grow from the Ashes made sure I had no problems finding my mana. Winning games with Multani feels dirty. I had one opponent outright concede when I cast Multani. Another used Ghitu Chronicler to buyback Settle the Score and try to answer Multani that way, but I had an Omnivore out and responded by eating Multani. He conceded to that.

About Stronghold Confessor, I'm not particularly impressed. A 4-mana 3/3 menace isn't terrible, but also not great. If one's deck were aggressive and had combat tricks and such, then sure, but in this one he seemed pretty bad. I'd sooner have a Baloth Gorger (not that I had the chance to draft one). Dark Bargain was also quite useless. I never had the chance to cast one ... or the need. Not sure if there's something to be learned here, sure the deck would be better with Vicious Offering instead of Dark Bargain but that goes without saying.

I think you underestimate Verix. Off the top of my head I can't remember a draft game that was lost by the side who resolved him. He was the one big win con of my deck. And he did win at least two, maybe all three, don't remember exactly. One loss was to an opposing Verix and one would have become a win had I drawn anything to produce the second red mana.

Congrats on your good run. I can't seem to produce those results lately.

edit: I looked up the time of my 7-win deck to find out it was friday late afternoon/early evening (euro time) -like my recent 11-2 Merfolk run. Maybe I should only play then :D
