Well done - I went through like 5 drafts and failed to go better than 5-3 in any of them. The last one was especially embarrassing. I first picked Adeliz and was like "okay I'm going to draft the Wizards deck" except I just wasn't seeing Wizards. Half of me wanted to start drafting some other cards, but each time I did it I'd get passed some Wizards staple that the other half of me would grab . End result, one totally unplayable deck and no surprises I went 0-3. Now I'm out of gems and coins to draft
Oh well.
Using a draft simulator, I notice that quite a lot I can't make up my mind on what to draft. I'd settle into two colors and then get passed some extremely powerful card like Tatvoya. Under what circumstances is a splash workable? Are 3-color decks a real possibility in draft? Is
Navigator's Compass playable? I tried using it to fix my mana some of my drafts, it did what it was supposed to do sometimes and occasionally the +3 life is also very useful. On the other hand it's only good for mana fixing, and doesn't even ramp. If the Compass isn't playable, what (other than the rare lands & Grow from the Ashes) can possibly enable splashes?
I'm quite partial to splashing in Dominaria, more so if I'm base green, though maybe I'm a bit too partial to it sometimes (especially sultai, just can't resist sultai). I've also taken Tatyova half way through pack 2 and abandoned a colour for it, the card is just so strong. Best card for splashing is
Grow from the Ashes, I've run 3 of them and felt good about it. Personally I wouldn't play compass unless I was trying some 4 colour jank, but at the point where compass starts looking good I'd seriously reevaluate the deck I was making
