On the topic of music... what are your "do not cross" lines in music? What makes music intolerable for you? I'm eager to see what yall say.
Mine:
- Overproduction. Crystal-clear, glossy production that sounds sterile. It needs to stop. The rawer, the better.
- Metal music that is overly folky. Folk music in general is awesome. Folk metal music, is with one or two exceptions, universally retarded.
- Progressive metal. Prog rock is the bomb. Prog metal, is mostly poorly, haphazardly written chaff that does not actually progress. "Hey guys! Lets throw a 6/4 acoustic section next to this heavy 5/4 section, with a 7/8 rock break at each end! So prog!"

i dont mind two people singing but every time its a softer song with male/female vocals it just sounds too adorable and makes me throw up. Even if they're not in love it always feels liek they are and ugh.

edit: admittedly I dont think i've heard such a thing with male/male duets that weren't parody songs so who knows what my view on it is.

If male/female duets sounding "adorable" is your issue, listen to Iced Earth - The Phantom Opera Ghost and tell me what you think.

Butt, I don't know exactly what prog metal is to be honest. At least I don't think I've heard any.

Prog music though...
Check out these old farts.

Edit: I have a much better recording of this I'll up to youtube and post tomorrow.

Prog metal = Progressive metal = Opeth, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Ayreon, Between The Buried and Me, etc.
Metal that is supposed to be like prog rock in that it progresses throughout the song, leading up throughout to a huge climax; but somewhere down the line it became "any metal with no sense of structure whatsoever, and a load of haphazardly thrown-together, contrasting sections for the sake of seeming 'prog'".

I believe BTBAM is the only good band of the bunch.

I define prog as progressive and not progresses.
