Oh not for me. The 90's era ThunderCats was cool for kid-me, but looks pretty cheesy artistically in retrospect. I'm more put out that the 2011 reboot that cleaned up a lot of that art and give the show a consistent, sensible storyline died out in under a year due to toy-sale mismanagement and that this version is my offered consolation/replacement.

Then again, like I said above, over-all it's not worth being too angry about. This particular animation boom will get replaced in the next decade or so and I'm really hoping that the next wave of animators are drawing inspiration from areas that are less hectic than the current batch are.

Wasn't the original made in like, the late 80's like He-Man?

When I think 90's style cartoons I think more the style of Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Lab, that lack this overall "hyper realism" that He-Man and Thundercats comparatively have.

Yea I really liked the 2011 Thundercats too. Also really enjoying the Voltron remake. I think these cartoon studios need to realize that toy sales aren't going to be the future of profitability in the near future.

Oh, yes, I see what you mean. And to be fair, those 90's era cartoons are what today's animators grew up on, so it seems fair that they are sort of exploring more of that space and doing their own takes on those styles.

I think Echo Fighters are explicitly less cool, since it more or less means "this character is pretty close to identical to another one"

I like that they are directly addressing the clone fighter issue. It could open up the doors to character tweaking in a way that catches onb were custom moves didn't seem to.

90's cartoons? I've been enjoying my revisit of the Spawn cartoon. A great deal of this probably went right over my head back when I was watching this as a kid. I like how the writers made Malebolgia's presence felt through human evils like the heroin pushers in season two, Jason Wynne throughout the show and others. Hopefully they do this with the upcoming live-action reboot.

White diamond's design is far above and beyond my expecations. That episode felt so eerie and now time to wait 5 more years for new eps.
