I tried it out and had to play tap lands pretty much every turn but I curved beautifully. Oath of nissa into harnessed lightning into liliana into Oath of liliana into Ob nix into Chandra and Gideon into sorin. Lol, crazy

Jolys Superfriends deck finishes in third place in my playtesting of the best Duels decks of all time
Final record is 38-6 with a 24-0 winstreak in there. Don’t keep two landers :)

Two decks remain... it’s possible neither of them will ever lose two in a row

So as some of you know I’m playtesting what I consider the best decks of all time in Magic Duels. I play them until they hit two losses in a row. Ready now to announce the fourth place finishing deck. It’s of course Zerris The Fading Light Abzan control build. Hate to use a Trump quote but this deck has so much winning, you’ll get tired of all the winning.

It’s my oldest deck I have and have been playing it since 2016. Final record is 147-19 which includes two back to back win streaks of 38-0 and 29-0. Unreal.

I will miss this deck. Three decks remain in my library and I intend to play them until I’m down to just one deck , after which I will retire from this awesome game which has given me 1,638 hours of free entertainment

Which decks were part of this, and what's been the final order so far?

I've been playing a lot of Wintervoid's Inevitability that I updated with sets released since he originally built it (mostly AKH cards). It feels like one of the strongest decks in Duels - has answers for everything - Cast Outs were the missing piece to keep the old idea relevant, IMO. I enjoy it so much more than other control decks because you're not stuck being reactive until T10 - deck's so incredibly versatile you can be proactive or reactive depending on the situation. Even have games where I play Kefnet on curve and be the beat down deck. It's a blast to play, and legit competitive.

I played that deck a lot and never could get it to be consistent.

I didn't announce what were the top decks I was testing until they get eliminated so the top two are still a secret and I can't even begin to express how happy I am that these two made top two. One of them is the deck I've played the most out of any deck ever, and the other hit these two insane win streaks back to back. Might be my record. No idea which will win. I'd be happy with either.

So to recap so far...

6th place was Beast's Making Big Plays (Gruul midrange)
5th place was Haven's Grixvolutions deck
4th was Zerris' The Fading Light (Abzan Control)
3rd place was Joly's Superfriends (4-colour)

two decks remain... all of these decks are being judged solely on consistency.

You have link to Beast's Gruul list? I struggled to find a good Gruul midrange deck that felt consistent until I came across and built LegendVD's Monster Madness deck a few weeks back. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D1eYTylu0 ... fQJOCxhJS_

It's similar to the list DJ had posted in the Gruul Midrange Beatdown thread I posted in constructed subforum (using Fiery Tempers and Honored Hydra as discard payoffs), but uses better cards than Insolent Neonate as enablers. I remember Mega making some nice Gruul lists back in the day and would enjoy seeing his version you played.

I always liked Inevitability, but think it's so much better with updates. I played against someone the other day who was running the old version exactly (milled their deck so got to see it all) and dominated it with new version. It was funny in that our mirror match saw us even using the same avatars on deck box, with only difference being I had the lava mountains background while they had the red city background. Felt bad for them when they were casting Brutal Expulsions to delay something a turn while I was playing Cast Outs on their Tutelages. Made my changes feel justified when they were firing off cards I cut (Exquisite Firecraft, Brutal Expulsion, multiple copies of Geistblast) in a losing effort while cards I added sealed the deal for me. If NGA was still doing Duels tourneys, I'd run this without second thought.

Sweet - thanks!

I was reading down the list like 'yeah but what the **** is the payoff for all deez weenie tokens', and then I got to Decimator. Looks fun. I never got a Decimator deck to approach anything I'd call consistent (or good even, TBH) back in its era and haven't touched it since then. Am interested to revisit it with this list.

It doesn’t even need the Decimator. It just wins all the time

I've been playing that deck since Barney retired it. I think I've resolved Decimator twice. Profane Prince is a common win, but just going wide and swinging every turn seems to be the most effective.

I played around 7 games with it yesterday and won with pig 3 times. Once top decked and emerged off P&K, twice fetched with from beyond (emerging off a Garrison once and hardcasting with scion help once). All were for lethal attacks - the first one surprising me because I had forgotten it gives trample and didn't factor that in my maths. Much fun. All games were wins, basically all other wins came with aid of planeswalkers (token spam working well to protect them). Helpful to have 5 available. Never flipped abbey - circumstances of the shuffler favoring pig for me. Although one of the pig wins I could have flipped abbey instead, but pig was more fun.

Mana was an occasional source of frustration. Some heavy :g::g: ( :g::g::g: ) :r::r: requirements and having 4 colorless only sources kept me from casting some good spells on curve. One of the pig wins I had to delay a few turns while waiting to draw a third :g: source. Other games I had trouble casting Nissa Voice, Chandra Tourch, and P&K. Think I would have had some losses against better competition. Other thing that stood out was no kill spells (Chandra exception) for 4+ butts. Found myself having to rely on a weenie chump and then casting burn to finish off a creature quite frequently. Aether Hubs seem tempting for extra reach on Harnessed Lightnings, but feels like trap with double color requirements and the aforementioned 4 colorless only sources.

If I tweak it, it'd probably be to trade 1 Battlements and some basic lands for the :r::g: tap lands to help cast the double color spells. Also would consider trading Impulses for Bombardments. Deck isn't super heavy on instants/sorceries, and I can't recall a single game where first Impulse hit for 3. Having the occasional game where you can kill a 4 or 5 butt for :r: seems good, and looter scooter helps trade the first for another card and increased damage on the next. Don't want to tweak until I get more games in first tho.

All in all it was very fun to play. Didn't feel like one of the best decks in the game, but it did its thing well and I'm not in any hurry to delete it.
