Wanted to make a thread for the most fun decks you've played in Duels.

I mentioned Boros Valor and Temur Fling-A-Drake in the thread asking about good aggro decks. I have a blast playing those.

I recently rebuilt Wintervoid's Jeskai Inevitability deck, updating a few card choices with things that came out after he made that one and won Steam Showdown with it (i.e. Cast Out, Commit//Memory, etc - I think I made 6 card swaps in total IIRC, not counting color tweaks to manabase). That's been a lot of fun to revisit. I've made it a subgame to deal lethal damage on the same turn I mill the last card in opps library, lol. Man that list is fun, and I'm not even a control player normally.

So what are your favorites when you're looking to have fun while still playing a reasonably competitive deck?

Conversely, what's the least fun?

For me worst is probably GB -1/-1 counters decks. I used to play them to complete the related challenge for golds when that still mattered to me, but god it was like pulling teeth to play. When I started playing again recently the first thing I did was delete that stupid deck from my deckbox. Felt so good to not even have to see the box in my list anymore

This version of Inevitability I'm running:

4 x Galvanic Bombardment
3 x Blessed Alliance
2 x Declaration in Stone
4 x Take Inventory
1 x Kefnet the Mindful
3 x Sphinx's Tutelage
2 x Fevered Visions
1 x Geistblast
2 x Radiant Flames
2 x Collective Defiance
1 x Gideon of the Trials
3 x Cast Out
1 x Nahri, the Harbinger
2 x Planar Outburst
1 x Jace, Unraveler of Secrets
1 x Chandra, Flamecaller
1 x Commit // Memory
3 x Plains
3 x Island
4 x Mountain
2 x Wandering Fumarole
2 x Needle Spires
2 x Prairie Stream
2 x Clifftop Retreat
2 x Sulfer Falls
2 x Glacial Fortress
4 x Evolving Wilds

Edit: -1 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, -1 Geistblast, +1 Gideon of the Trials, +1 Blessed Alliance. GAoZ's creature tokens only serve to let opp play their removal and lower their hand size. GotT's damage nurf is waaay more useful here. Worth having 1 less p/t when using him as an attacker. At least I might make a GotT emblem to buy an extra turn, but I've never used GAoZ emblem with this deck. Geistcasting a big payoff is hella fun but BA's a better removal spell than a 3cc 2 damage spell. To my questioning Kefnet below, he's pulled weight and been decent.

I'm not sold on Kefnet. Maybe should be 3rd Alliance or something. But I like the idea of an indestructible draw engine so haven't cut him/her/xer yet. I upped the land count by one from what Wintervoid's ran because got to hit dem land drops, and plenty of ways to loot cards later. Man I wish we had gotten those cycling dual lands from the last set...

Anyways, I love the versatility of this deck. So much fun to play, and I usually dislike playing control decks so that's saying something.

Most fun is blue based control.

Least fun is aggro decks with minimal removal or interaction.

Caveat : Tutelage decks are worse than cancer. They don't count as blue based control. Mill is for nerds.

Recently I've been having a blast with Grapple with the Past again after I had thought the card to be too slow for a while. Nice to see I was somewhat wrong and that Green is not completely terrible in current Duels (also, the deck gives me an excuse to play with Nissa, Vastwood Seer; probably my favourite card in Duels).

Would love to find a shell for Brisela, but it seems that is just too slow.

Ackshully, nerds are for milling. :teach:

Inevitability is the only mill deck I've really liked. I hated playing the fog mill decks in early seasons, and the Izzet mill decks are only slightly more enjoyable than fog mill. Maybe it's just because I helped Wintervoid revise a few initial card choices in his deck and I'm partial to it because I feel like a small contributor to a deck that in its era was top tier, but that deck breaks all my normal rules. Usually feel like control is worse than cancer, but I'll play the sh*t out of Inevitability.

There are 2 decks I still play that utalize Grapples. Temur Fling-a-Drake and Nighthawk's Temurge deck that won the last Steam Showdown. Temurge is the stronger deck, but I have more fun flinging drakes.

I have a GW ramp deck that runs Brisela, but it's not very good. Same problem Duals ramp always seemed to have with feast or famine draws. I don't think I've had her in any deck that really felt legit.

Funniest to play... IDK but I know what’s the more overrated... that's Esper control by a mile.

That was a fun deck to play. I ran it for a while after seeing your vid on it. Rishkaring into huge draws and free casting Onslaught for a 1 sided boardwipe was a blast. I tried to recreate that part of it in UG ramp but it was never as good as your mono green stompy.

I've been thinking about that 4 color Flameshadow Conjuring deck that CGB made. I would never have believed that list would work if I hadn't seen it proven in his video. Shocking he pulled off a mana base to cast all those demanding color requirements. I want to build it as soon as I can muster up the effort to dig through his channel log for the list...

Found the 4C flameshadow deck. It was :r::u::w::c: blink, with just a single flameshadow. I built it and it sucks. Mana base is painfully strained; IDK how CGB made it look so good in his video. I had land problems in every game I played before I gave up and deleted. I also found and played his Temur energy shadow, and that was miles better in comparison.

But all that reminded me how much fun blink decks are.

Also, lololol, I went through the stompy thread to built the list again, and read through the pages to check discussions and alt builds. I had forgotten how cringey Kel got in there

Ended up sticking with the build in the OP. Still fun to play and stompy

Only aggro deck I actually enjoyed was Rakdos Suicide Vamps

Found the Brisela deck I wanted. Big plusses: It's Abzan and it runs Grapple .
Need to check back how similar it is to some older decks of Zerris and/or me; but so far it has been working out nicely (though it probably is not quite optimal yet).

Creatures (14)
2 x Sylvan Advocate

1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
2 x Tireless Tracker

1 x Gisela, the Broken Blade
1 x Mindwrack Demon
1 x Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet

1 x Archangel Avacyn
1 x Ishkanah, Grafwidow

1 x Linvala, the Preserver
1 x Noxious Gearhulk

2 x Bruna, the Fading Light

Non-creature spells (20)
3 x Fatal Push
2 x Oath of Nissa

2 x Declaration in Stone
4 x Grapple with the Past

1 x Liliana, the Last Hope
2 x Anguished Unmaking

1 x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
2 x Yahenni's Expertise

1 x Ob Nixilis Reignited
1 x Liliana, Death's Majesty

1 x Sorin, Grim Nemesis

Lands (26)
2 x Plains
3 x Swamp
2 x Forest
2 x Shambling Vent
2 x Hissing Quagmire
2 x Canopy Vista
2 x Isolated Chapel
2 x Woodland Cemetary
2 x Sunpetal Grove
3 x Aether Hub
4 x Evolving Wilds

Was considering some other cards, but couldn't fit them; mainly Cast Out. On the other hand, the manabase ended up being heavier green than I anticipated; so the deck _could_ play double-Green cards, which I did not account for while building. That said, I wouldn't know which one I'd want and what to cut for it.

@Vert - suicide vamps was fun. That Rakdos suicide build you did was one of my favorites that season. I think the only card I didn't like and took out was Midnight Oil. I used it to power through the ranks hella quick, and it was my go-to deck to recover rank in a jiffy after testing janky AF brews.

@Modulo - I haven't played an Abzan build since before taking a break from Duels. List looks interesting and I'll give it a spin for the Angels.

Here's the newest version of my mono-red deck. It's the one I use to get back to 40 after I've been screwing around with concept decks.

4 x Insolent Neonate
2 x Bomat Courier
2 x Harsh Mentor
3 x Battlefield Scavenger
2 x Ravaging Blaze
2 x Avacyn's Judgment
2 x Lathnu Hellion
3 x Ahn-Crop Crasher
1 x Hungry Flames
4 x Fiery Temper
2 x Collective Defiance
2 x Impetuous Devils
2 x Voldaren Duelist
2 x Fleetwheel Cruiser
2 x Glorybringer
2 x Insult

17 x Mountain
2 x Looming Spires
4 x Sunscorched Desert
