So... after I reached that gold medal with all the crap around it I thought it was it... but no sir apparently there is a whole set of gold ranks after those... so I´m currently on the mid part of the Gold 1... I believe that once you fill this bar you reach Master... but I really don't know for sure.

Hey that sounds like one crazy board!! That helmet sounds a lot of fun!

That is about where I am at now. The second set of gold at Gold 2. If the deck holds up, I should be able to blow through G1 and see what magical fairy land awaits after that. My guess...Gold 4 for the 3rd time.

The ranks are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Master

Gold, Diamond and Master use the same graphics currently, but you can see where you are if you hover over it I think. I'm at work, so I can't confirm if hovering works.

Whats wrong with control players!!!!??? play faster goddamit!!
do you ever need to tap lands manually if you are using all your mana? NO!
do you need to read the card 6 times before you use one of the 4 counters you had in your hand? NO!!!!!
---
I guess I just don´t concede to make then realize how **** awful is the experience of playing decks with no win cons.. when you gotta actually win a game...

You make your bed bastard, now lie in it!

I am pretty much at the bottom of the ranks, spent all my wilds on making a dope cat deck (meow baby). Unfortunately it still struggles against pretty much most of what I see. Been seeing lots of B/U scarab god discard your hand before i play it decks like over and over. Once they get that scarab god and counter any answer I try to play it's GG.

Bronze 4 life yo. Unlocking cards is too slow to make another deck, I miss duels.

I hear you sl33p! If you look at it as a series of 1 v 1 matches (damn you BO3 for not showing up yet) you can gauge it on being the no of good games (win or lose) you have. You can always fall back on Merefolk but agree it’s nice to try and run a deck that is better than 50% but can be tricky without the cards. I also used the search collection to put a deck with good synergy (tribal) and tweak when you get to the next pack! SD

It doesn't miss me too much. I call her up for booty calls quite often and play my controlly blue decks so i can feel better about how bad my arena g/w tokens deck is.

My fun deck is a low to the ground (tops out at 4 mana) grixis burn deck that blows other control/fog decks up because my damage isn't creature based.

So out of 5 games I ran into U/R cntrl, U/B cntrl x2, R/G dinos, and R/B land destruction cntrl. None of the games were close. The best game for me was Dinos vs Cats but that usually goes to dinos and I had to mulligan that game while my opponent had all the answers to everything i played. At least my stuff resolved.

Is this what real MtG is like?

I guess it is... I´m sick and tired of RDW -sorry Haven- and UW control myself, standard is just a toxic environment.
If you just wanna have fun then you must die to the 2 decks that 80% of the meta is... and maybe when the stars align play some fun games every now and then.

Then again If we could send invites we could resume some form of organized play -with rarity restrictions for sure-... and the game starts to be fun.

The last time I played it wasn't so bad, but that was almost 20 years ago. I think the most I spent on any deck was about $100, and that was the academy deck. That was basically winning the Saturday tournament at the local shop, so it was a decent investment. But back then, the good rares were not as well publicized, so you could be ahead of the curve and get the rares before they were popular. Now, prices are set well before the set even hits the stores.

I asked recently and was told a standard deck is $300-$400 now. I am much better off financially now, but it would be hard to justify that dollar amount unless I tried to get on the Pro Tour, and I really don't have time for that.

i spent a bunch of money in 2009 after not playing for 15 years and had a horrible time. I don't think I'll ever play irl again except for booster drafts with friends (which is always great)

That is fun. Back when me and friends were all into magic, we started a weekly event that went on for a few months. Basically, we bought a starter deck and 2-3 booster per person and built decks from them and played in mini tournaments with each other. The twist is that we played it the way magic was meant to be played....with ante! For anyone that doesn't know that was, you would take the top non land card out of your deck for that game, and if you lost, your opponent won that card.

The only issue was that soon the best players just got better and better decks.

I like that system

I just hate all the deck building it requires

Here lately it's a lot of B/U cntrl or W/U cntrl. I think the quality of my opponents has gotten closer to my level or some unlocks has helped my cat deck quite a bit. I've been able to win a good portion of my games vs control opponents. I even was able to beat a guy that jammed back to back taferi's on me by leveraging the double strike of adorned pouncer.

Watch out, my cats are on the prowl. :creature:

Just watched the pro tour finals.. what a 5th game! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/269026533
I was looking at the top 8 and there are 7 playsets of Goblin Chainwhirler there... just one control and esper not UW, and all of the Aggro decks were running 24 lands - 25 lands, but running heavy curves.
I guess after this weekend UW will be the biggest loser and aggro will dominate for a while.
I know I will be building Rakdos and Mono-red with Chandra FTW -Girl, I missed you so much-

xoxoxoxox, love ya, thanks!

man, so many surprises in that list. I can't believe he's not playing 4x Shock when he's playing a full playset of Haz. I figured the cheap quick stuff would be huge to supporting Haz.

Also I didn't think Bomat Courier got along with Haz at all.

Soul Scar is a crazy one-drop! Prowess too?!

For Eternalize, does the creature get the Haste keyword when it copies a creature in the graveyard?

I'm surprised to see a deck this fast play Rekindling Phoenix which seems SUPER slow

Once you land a Phoenix or two though....
...Looks like a win more in that deck.
