Grats!

I'm still Karn-less. I wonder how much of his current value he'll hold? Playing with him would be great but I'm not super desperate.

I did NOT see the Gunnerkrigg twist coming, and it was epic! No spoilers, but I wonder if Coyote saw it coming and had some convoluted plan in motion?

@Karn: I hope he at least holds value until my store league is done. I pulled a foil Karn, Scion of Urza in my first league booster, alongside a Teferi, Hero of Dominaria . That's the single most valuable booster configuration possible. I also pulled a Oath Of Teferi for extra synergy. Somehow my deck is still total jank because I just had to run Muldrotha, the Gravetide too.

@Gunnerkrig: I suspect Coyote had this all planned.

@$900 MTG paperback: Probably just an automatic pricing glitch (say you have one bot that automatically sets a price to 95% of the average and another who sets it to 110% of that brining the average up...) but it might be worth looking into.

I liked DP2, maybe not as much as the first one, but it was a good couple of hours spent.

In other news, Cartoon Network is Re-Re-booting ThunderCats in the same high-energy wild animation styles of OK-KO and similar shows. On the one hand, I'm glad a whole new generation is going to get to fall in love with the ThunderCats like I did back in the day. On the other hand, I was one of the minuscule few who loved the 2011 Re-Boot and was sad when it got canceled. This new version and its far more comedic take in tone and art are just not for me; but that's okay, as I'm like thirty-something now and shouldn't expect today's cartoons to be made with my needs in the forefront.

That poster makes me sad. I never watched the first reboot, but the original show was one of my favorites, and gave me some of my most cherished TV-related childhood memories.

I checked the date. Today is not 1 April.

What is happening to American animated entertainment?

It currently has 27 THOUSAND dislikes vs 2 thousand likes.
Azure, don't be generous, nobody likes this swill and the vast majority are pissed about it.
Just because it's aimed for a primary demographic of kids doesn't mean it can't hit other demographics, especially considering it's rebooting a existing property, nor does it excuse lazy design and writing

The thing that annoys me the most is the nepotism. Decades of animators trying to express themselves and pushing the boundaries of the medium are now resorting to justifying this as "its for kids".

I'm full Boros now.

I'm not sure Nepotism is the word you're looking for. Or were friends/relatives of important people cheated into top creative positions due to their connections?

Apparently so, given how hesitant everyone in the industry is about talking about it, how there were threats of blacklisting against critics and how Gene Goldstein asked people to give it a chance purely because it was made by his friends.

The thing is, nepotism in the industry goes back a long long way. Friends are getting green lit pretty regularly, though in the past, there's been a lot of merit behind that as well.
Shows like Rocko's Modern Life and the Simpsons were jumping off points for other creators to get their own shows.
But those shows also looked like they had a lot of promise.

Adventure Time was kind of where a lot of this began to spin out of control. I love Steven Universe, but Rebecca would have had a much harder getting her shot if not for Pendleton* pushing for her to get it. Then both Craig of the Creek and OK KO spun out of the crewniverse thanks to Rebecca pushing for them. Except, I feel like OK KO is where things start to get shakier, because Ian pitched the show to CN BEFORE they picked up Adventure Time, and they said No. I have nothing against Ian, and I really really wish I could like OK KO because a lot of the ideas are cool, but the writing on that show suuuuuuuuucks. Ian was a good storyboarder though, so he has merits, but...

Anyway, this new show is almost certainly getting its push because of Ian vouching for this new guy. He worked on OK KO immediately prior to this.

Incidentally, we're now up to 31,000+ dislikes.

*I could probably go back at least one more show, since I think Pendleton worked on The Misadventures of Flapjack and Thurop pushed for CN to pick up the pilot of Adventure Time after Nickelodeon shot it down.

My knowledge of Thunder Cats comes mostly from Robot Chicken. I always wrote it off as a medium-low budget trend-follower. Not that I can defend my assumptions.

I don't get a SU vibe from this. The mouths, yeah, but the overall style? No.

Are we worried now that the cartoon renaissance might be drawing to a close?

Stuff like the new thundercats, and new teen titans, look like they were done in a style mean to...copy Adventure Time, sort of. Just speaking as a casual observer, looking at the trailers like Azure linked. There's a new ninja turtles cartoon that does something similar.

It's a more cartoony, exaggerated style. People act like cartoons in the 90's had such a higher level of art technicality but the reality is they were just a different style.
