English has so many confusing, contextual quirks already that introducing another minor one in the interest of being respectful to people is an easy call to make.

My thoughts basically.
The targeting rule changes were necessary and good, but seem like something that could have used a little more lead time.

yeah the thing with the targeting rules is that the rules for planeswalker damage were a bad hack when they came out, because their vision for planeswalkers was incompatible with the templating of burn spells up to that point. they had two options to fix that, neither of which was good, and they chose the one that introduced gross back-end rules instead of the one that required them to errata hundreds or thousands of cards. that was probably the safer bet at the time because a) they didn't know if walkers would stick around, and b) it's better to mess with the new thing than the old things, but as walkers became more ingrained in the game that calculus started to shift, and having this really weird, unintuitive rule for one of your major card types is a bad look. so this was coming eventually, and I'm not sure there was a good way to announce it. maybe a tiered roll-out? announce the intent and start printing new cards with that formatting, but wait until there's a bunch of cards that use the new template before you officially errata the old ones?

also, don't use "any target" when you mean "creature, player, or planeswalker" because there's lots of potential targets that aren't any of those.

That was what I hoped for. Once enough spells that targeted walkers were printed, it wouldn't be such a big deal when the old player-centric burn stopped working on them. Of course, they also should have started years ago. Maybe even announced that the old redirect rules would be a temp measure right from the beginning.

As to "any target"? :gross:

In no particular order:

1: Anyone want to buy a Champions of Kamigawa Cube? A complete set of mint cards, plus two more playsets of commons, plus lands, all sleeved in black Ultrapro. $350

2. I don't have a smartphone. So, no, the errata is annoying, and non-obvious. I would not have expected Blightning to hit planeswalkers, for instance, but sure, I see.

3. Oh, I guess that deck never worked. No one ever contested it though. Probably because of the errata to playing and casting etc that has happened over the years; people just take your word an older errated card does what you say it does. I suppose there is a lesson there about the consequences of errata......

4. Not a big fan of "their." Obviously there is a hole in the english language for a proper genderless single-person pronoun. I generally find gender less important to most sentences than the number of people about which the sentence concerns, but whatever. No getting off this PC? train now. Would rather have Zir or something make headway; fill that hole with something pls.

5. But I was actually more bothered by " Add mana" with no rest of sentence.

6. And "any target," for I will read Jaya's Immolating Inferno and totally think I can burn a creature, my opponent, and an unactivated Faerie Conclave pre-combat.

7. I mean, Champions of Kamigawa was an interesting draft and sealed set. All those insular mechanics work great! And a prepared cube, ready to go?!

8. You cannot haz mur stuff. But you can haz some of it. For $350.

9. No really that is the only reason I made this post. PM me if interested.

10. Man, I hope people look at this. Maybe I should have made a new thread...

Wow, I didn't think you were serious.
"Gain" mana might have been better than "add". Adding implies your combining it with some other amount. Gain means you get it- it's your mana now.

I'm not in a position to buy, but what's in the cube? Is it basically a replica of what the draft format would be?

Of all the changes, "Add " is the one that does still bother me a bit. I'd be happy if they replaced it with "gain" or "produce", but "add" just doesn't make sense without the rest of the sentence.

But the legendary frames, the flavor text line, "any target," "they," I'm all pretty happy with.

Are the legendary frames here to stay? I assumed it was a one time thing. Not of fan of them.

They're a permanent thing. They also showed up in the latest (and last) duel decks.

I would've given the Dominaria legends the traditional pre-8th edition frames.

I would've given everything the Planar Chaos frames.

I’m probably done too. Not due to the rules changes but I just dropped like $300 on a Dinosaur Commander, had my fun with it and have a feeling it just got invalidated by a set release with it not even being that strong to begin with. Who needs that neverending hamster wheel.

How'd your dino commander deck get invalidated by Dominaria?

Hard to say without more experience with the new cards, but with the Intro of Brawl, I’d say the concept of having a Commander Deck that is relevant for quite awhile is going to be a thing of the past because it would seem they have Commander in their sights as another cash cow funnel.

Dominaria had some powerful cards for Commander. Helm of the Host comes to mind among others.
