The NDA will be lifted soon so we'll be able to more freely discuss things. For now we can say what WOTC has said and I believe BO3 and Draft are going to be implemented at the next patch/wipe.
I am really, really in the camp of wanting the game ported to consoles as soon as possible. It will be eventually and hopefully (because the engine can) that will bring cross-platform play also.
As a player of DOTP from the beginning and a long time member of the community I felt incumbent to get in on the beta but to be frank, sitting in front of a pc instead of kicking back on a couch or comfy chair and playing on a big screen is not my preferred way of play at all.
The ONLY reason I'm doing this is to help them make a better product for all of us.

Barney, is it the case you will have no choice ? Ie PC is just not doable ? You as ever would be good to give hands on feedback on any digital MtG offering. Like you I am hoping for other platforms, mobile in particular, but as in the issue of Duels of old they must, must make it cross platform. I can still see me playing occasionally on pc in arena but would want to know any deck or collection I can play across platform. Whilst I had a totally 100% free unlock on iOS Magic Duels (and every last item you could buy, sans foiling) on pc I spent a reasonable amount and probably as much or a little more than previous DOTP releases and expansions cost. For what it’s worth the arena collection and full sets means as they keep telling us the full magic experience. Get the best of 3 and limited tournaments sorted and arguably at release a full standard set range it should be just as popular as duels. Without over spoiling and breaking NDA I do like how they reward wins with extra content for playing plus a neat twist on the particular card issue. Assuming unlike MTGO you cannot buy specific cards but via boosters the approach they have taken is definitely a step in the right direction. Pity you don’t have access to the current beta as you’d have a blast! Not sure if and when they will confirm any future platform but of course you’d expect XBOX to be a definite! They have not necessarily built the GUI to be joypad friendly per se but there is plenty of scope with an XBOX / PS pad to make it decent. In some ways the mobile platform may have more challenges but it remains to be seen if WOTC give up on mobile completely. I wouldn’t rule it out but consoles are a no brainier apart from maybe the technical cross platform play. Having a single community able to play arena across any platform will put wizards in the same ball park as their competitors. Cheers. SD

Aha! Was not even aware you could get it on Mac. I’d use that over pc but will stick with it for now. Still not sure when to expect a launch date but presumably close to next paper release. SD

Case of mistaken understanding. You said you had access and invited to beta, then you said you had a Mac. I doubt it will ever come to Mac. iOS should be unless they give up on mobile entirely. That would be so much for the Next label. I’d expect PC (naturally) and consoles. Perhaps mobile. Cross platform may still be a distant hope but for me it would only make sense if it’s platform and mobile for it to be a must for cross platform. There is no way I would pay / grind across more than one device on the same Wizards account. SD

Does Hearthstone have crossover or is it iOS only?

Pretty sure HS has full crossover so my progress can be independent of whether I play mobile or via MAC or PC or console. Even considering Magic Duels with its local / cloud settings. If cloud only really captures deck info but your gold / collection as long as it’s a true cloud platform and integrated I should be able to pick up where I left off on any platform. I should only really need to capture and sync meta data not the full data set. SD

Well that’s a pleasant surprise. Has that been officially announced? I don’t think Mac had any earlier DOTP game nor of course Magic Duels. It may be because they want the more PC market. I would have expected console platforms confirmed before Mac though. Will check the wizards site. SD

It's one of those "don't ask me how I know it but I know it" things.
If you haven't already you could join the Discord group and when you ask I can guarantee you'll get a positive response about it coming to Mac next. It will eventually come to the consoles also and the engine it is built on will finally be capable of cross-platform play and I honestly think that is in WOTC's agenda with the game in the future.
This is supposed to be their long term digital product that may eventually take the place of MTGO.

Well it seems based on the economy and the grind I am likely to be casual anyway so it coming to Mac will be ideal as it’s my main PC. I do have a windows Machine but it’s rarely used and currently it’s only being used to play Arena beta. As the 3 packs only refresh weekly if it remains the same I will be a once a week player but having it on Mac will be more convenient. I guess if it’s set for a release in the next few months they’d make more of an announcement of specific launch platforms, pc for sure but as for others - wait and see. Also any platforms would really need to be cross platform as there is zero chance anyone will want to play and gather seperate Arena collections / decks across multiple platforms. If Mac is announced and is soon after if not at launch with PC and it’s not cross platform I’d almost certainly wait for the Mac release.

I got the invite, requested some time ago just because there was no reason not to do it. I don't know if I'll ever play Arena, but just so you know, I chose "tfm" as display name because "thefiremind" was not available: if you find yourself playing against "thefiremind" it won't be me.

EDIT: I took back my rightful nickname for the open beta, now I'm "thefiremind" there too.
