^^ You got to resolve a predator ooze. That's normally the end there. vorapede too. However I would not consider that completely representative of the 1v1 meta.

Actually played dragons twice (in a row, yay random...) against Draco earlier.
Against elves, I was able to hit some ramp early, and get a big board presence quickly...that would work against HS.

Next game, against slivers, again, I was able to ramp early and hit Form of the Dragon on T5. HS has what, 2 cards that get around that...

Yeah, I know dragons can't answer predator ooze, but that's slower, so...I'll take my dragons!

Plus, it's great in 2HG and FFA

Form of dragon answers the ooze well enough, and consume strength can kill it in the early game.

Seeing those 'tier lists' make me think this game is more balanced than people are letting on

Even though I play a lot of fighting games I still have never liked the idea of tiers, I prefer match ups listings, because decks like hunters strength may be the weakest decks but they do have some very good match ups against decks like dodge and burn

i think fairies are one of the top tiers, pairing with mind maze. all creatures have evasion, and plenty of counters, and even shroud

guardians of light , i think you guys are overrating it. theres plenty of stuff around in this format that can bring one fattie to the ground... firewave and slivers are way behind of wht i suspected despite the amount of removal. other than that i might say its pretty close on wht i think

This is preliminary for 4-Player Free For All:

1 - Chant of the Mul Daya
2 - Enchanter's Arsenal
3 - Hall of Champions
4 - Avacyn's Glory

* Bounce and Boon

5 - Guardians of Light

* Mind Maze

6 - Sliver Hive (I'm not joking)
7 - Masks of the Dimir
8 - Unfinished Buisness
9 - Dead Walkers
10 - Lords of Darkness
11 - Sylvan Might
12 - Swords of the Champions (To many opponents to effectively use Jitte, in certain matchups [i.e. all opponents are running a combo of White/Red/Blue] this deck could be higher)
13 -
14 - Enter the Dracomancer
15 - Hunter's Strength
16 - Up to Mischief
17 -
18 - Dodge and Burn
19 - Firewave

As you can see, I'm not fully decided on everything yet. Obviously B&B and MM can't go in slots 13 and 17. But I'm having a hard time finding a slot for them. AG should probably be even or 1 slot above B&B. But MM should probably be better than either, but not in all cases. MM is very build-reliant on where it falls in 4PFFA, Wuster's build is great but some are trash.

Control decks really take a hit in 4-Player, see D&B and UtM as examples. There's just to many people to properly gage when to counter spells. Do you counter that fatty someone is bringing? Maybe he's going to use it to kill someone else. Maybe he's not aggressive towards you yet, but when you counter it, he will be. Maybe he's acting like he's not aggressive towards you so he can sneak in an attack, unsuspected. D&B especially since you're burning yourself and facing 3 opponents that only need to do 2-3 damage each to kill you. Forcing a 4-way tie is fun though.

Wuster, I need some assistance

I like most of what I see. Personally I would raise EtD up a bit as the long format can really give it time to shine.
You are right that MM deserves a spot up toward the top but you are also right that many build it for crap in 4ffa. Mine contains a lot of control and almost impossible to remove instant flyers and most don't build that way.
Also agree that D&B can be pretty weak and mentally taxing in 4ffa. It does have board wipe but in the long format it's wipe can't compare to the wipe/combat hit of Coup/Sublime which is one of many reasons that HoC deserves a top spot.
Slivers???
I actually agree with you there but I still dread getting it playing random.
EA is also where it belongs. Just the Opal in of itself is nasty if more than one player are using the same colors, not to mention Oversoul and the removal/shutdown suite.
...and, yes, Firewave just plain runs out of gas most of the time.

I'm glad to see the top aggro decks down where they should be. Aggressive from the get go is not the way you want to play 4ffa. Too easy to make enemies and to make yourself overextend out of huberous therefor making yourself even more vurnerable to retribution.

I would bump **** up a bit though. Even though it only has one Hand of Honor with that the deck has the capability of protecting it's creatures from every color but green and a Jitte on a flyer can go a long way in shutting down green.

I'm pretty sure I have the top ones and the bottom ones correct. The bold ones are the one's I'm wrestling with now. I really feel like Demons should be higher with 5 Board Wipes (2 of them being Great or "meh" depending on the other decks you're against). Deadwalkers definitely had to be moved up with because of it's board wipes. But often times, removing a 2 of your lords (which is easy for 3 opponents to do) makes your horde of zombies nothing more than a bunch of 2/2s and 2/1s. I also need to account for it's lack of flying defense, unless you run the Nightmares.

So are faeries top tier ? They seem just a little bit weaker than illusions , humans , zombies and dodge and burn. ( which are my top tier , unoriginally :D )

Here's how I would tier them for 1v1 ONLY with some guesses about DP3.
I started out dividing all the decks into 3 tiers with 7 decks in each tier then subdivided each tier in 3.
  • Tier 1
    • Tier 1.0
      • Avacyn's Glory
      • Deadwalkers
      • Mind Maze
    • Tier 1.1
      • Dodge & Burn
      • Up to Mischief
    • Tier 1.2
      • Bounce and Boon
      • Chant of the Mul Daya
  • Tier 2
    • Tier 2.0
      • Sylvan Might
      • Enchanter's Arsenal
    • Tier 2.1
      • Warsmith
      • Lords of Darkness
      • Hall of Champions
    • Tier 2.2
      • Sword of the Samurai
      • Guardian's of Light
  • Tier 3
    • Tier 3.0
      • Firewave
      • Unfinished Business
    • Tier 3.1
      • Masks of the Dimir
      • Hunter's Strength
    • Tier 3.2
      • Sliver Hive
      • Hunting Season
      • Enter the Dracomancer

Edit: Screwing around with formatting and I'm missing a deck
Edit: Updated a few rankings

I'm guessing that you have Unfinished Business in 3.0?

^^^ Jack is bored, so he's up to that discussion. It's primary land inconsistencies, combined with a smaller number of fixers and the sheer number of tri colored cards, mean that it is a highly inconsistent mess without running 26 or 27 lands plus the 2 landcycling cards. This sheer inconsistency means it's a lower tier 2 / upper tier 3 deck.

Where would you put it? I don't have much experience with the deck in 1v1.

For me, I would place it intier 1.2.

It belongs in upper tier 3 or the bottom of tier 2 for 4 reasons:

1. Land inconsistencies.

2. More reliant on it's bombs than dimir, with a smaller number of them (rafiq, angels, the enchantment).

3. Due to the inherent problems of building a deck around exalted, this deck is very removal prone and has chump blocking issues without getting trample on something.

4. It's removal package is 4 bant charm. That's it.

So when you add all that up, you have an inconsistent mess that is overrelaint on bombs that mostly require the deck to act consistent; which combined with the entire removal package also being 3 colors and the inherent problems with exalted makes this a solid upper tier 3 deck.

And claiming it's the 5th or 6th best deck in the entire game? Sheer FUBAR. Out of 21 this deck is solidly 14 - 17.

It's good, wuster, but inconsistent mana and tempo loss when faced with instant-speed removal drops the deck a few notches.

Solid mid-tier deck, probably in 2.0 on Yertle's list (which I feel is pretty accurate overall).
