With the wipe you have to work with what you have to work with. I guess I'm seeing a few people trying to build back Merfolk and Dino decks but mine, and this is no brag really at only 3 games, is 3 for 3. It's a grinder for the moment and is working really good right now.

More creature heavy than my Azorius Sirens/Dino deck but the control aspect still feels real good and has been useful. Really had limited resources after the wipe and I'm pretty sure I can refine this into a constant winner when a few cards open up for me. With hardly anyone flying around Why Not build a deck around Favorable Winds even with lackluster flyers????
No one else is. No one is guarded against it.
Wind Strider is there to curve me out and add another flyer. Don't laugh. Not the greatest but it's what I have and It at the moment has potential with a couple of Winds out and its Flash.

I built my own watered down Winds deck, but haven't tested it yet. My draws haven't been very favourable and I'm kind of having fun with Rdw and all the pretty good 1-drops we now have atm. Shame the 2-drop slot isn't as good and only Lannery and the banned-dinosaur are any good at 3 cmc and those are both rares...

Anyway, I got clobbered by a mono-black aggro deck and decided to build my own, then faced 4 merfolk decks in a row... Funny how walk the plank always shows up for me vs merfolks... And merfolks looks to be plenty strong right now, but I don't have the cards for that.

I basically stopped playing after my final revised Dino build. But saw the email re reset and new set. The wildcards seem a good idea in being able to complete a standard deck more easily. With the start over at least as yet early days and not seen the same dino madness from before (yet). It seems rank is for real now so hit the beginner officially lol. With the reset though and the standard cards it will be a while to get a hold competitive deck. I have not used any of the wildcards yet as no really compelling targets (no Planeswalkers yet). After a few rubbishy builds (Dimir and Azorius) and seeing a real issue with our old nemesis RNGESUS I switched to build a mono black (vamps, pirates) basically relying on menace and removal. It won't probably last long as things get tougher but just wondering on people's views on approaching the wildcard stuff and do we know if these are one off or you can open in packs. I have not yet opened even 1 pack but just about at gold for first. So another Q - Ixalan or Rivals?

I earned enough for a pack myself and chose RIX. I am on a mission to build a pure Siren tribal deck and need the Reaver.

It was maybe prophetic taking about the Polyraptor as I opened one with what looked like another reset so 3 Ixalan and 3 Rivals packs. I was also surprised to be handed a Gishath for a win. I don’t really have the right rage triggers yet but here goes the deck. It’s got me to Tier 1 at least.

Finally getting some decent consistency via the Rakdos Ravager deck. Based on ideas from Megabeast from Duels it’s based on more menace than haste. By a bit of design, accident and luck the curve comes out pretty well but for sure it really can’t be classed as Aggro so by category it’s probably mid range. Some good synergy with the pirates but I think it’s because it has pretty good removal and the menace / flying can create some good mid game pressure. The mana seems okay but situational with a 2 land opener with the right mana to cast early stuff or have removal from 3 lands.

Had some good matches and losses were mainly curving out better or better longer game. It’s held it’s own an beat the faster more pure haste / burn based Aggro decks and seems to get decenct board presence with spot removal or menace / flying putting a decent beat down approach in particular prior to casting Ravager.

Think I cut a vampire revenant for the Rekindling Phoenix which is a decent 4 spot card and still a flyer!

Back to having fun and at least can give a good account. Also seen some of the strategies I have been watching at GP’s of late e.g. Hada’s Climb and the popularity of the 4cc Black 2/2 removal beast. Seeing some mere folk and dinos but the deck seems to match up well against them.

That was strange, I just played against CGB in Arena and it was a mono-red RDW mirror match (I won BTW). I guess he must be practicing for the ramumap Red shenanigans that are coming next week.
