Ah well. I figured that the deck would fall under " If the card is too weak to break, the deck should at least incorporate it into a broader strategy that plays to the card’s effects." Basically, I figured that the damage component of course plays to agro (Which I generally don't like) and I tried to take advantage of the cards secondary ability of producing Diamond Mana. That is why I went heavy Eldrazi.

Back to the drawing board.

Actually, The card does damage and produces colorless mana... So I guess exploiting colorless mana counts towards the breaking of the card, but I guess you really have to do more than 1 damage with it for maximum breakage.

I see we share some choices Mowie :) is delirium working in yours? if it is I think that´s the spikier approach, on mine I killed the Fogs... I just fogging hate them... and I hate myself when I play them.
How is Animist's Awakening working for you... I chopped it really early.. its just such a pain in the ass to pay 9 CMC, show all your game plan and sometimes not even get one land -for real!-

I must say I´m having a blast playing with this pile... but my rank is on a free fall
Maybe I will try something else before the dead line, not sure if I got the time to make it work tho..

Same here Cucho :) (enjoying playing but ranking in a fall). The Retreats are just sooo slow, and while Hagra/Ballista is a awesome feeling late game (especially if you bring back Ballista from graveyard), it is not something you can rely on. I <3 Gitrog so much. She really is the coolest card ever. Animist Awakening is a good late game bomb in this deck (I've hit 5 lands before and Hagra lifedrained opponent out), but yes a total blech early game.

My Simic idea ain’t cutting it. It barely scrapes by vs ai, not even gonna try on the ladder. Coralhelm is just bleh with our cardpool. You know what we really need? Fastbond and some Moonfolk action. Then we could really break this derpy card!

I’ma go try a Gruul landfall beats build now...

I think I've got something going on here:

1 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
3 x Censor
2 x Eldrazi Displacer
3 x Wall of Resurgence
1 x Kefnet the Mindful
2 x Scatter to the Winds
3 x Broken Concentration
2 x Spell Shrivel
2 x Aether Tradewinds
1 x Gideon of the Trials
2 x Commit
3 x Glimmer of Genius
1 x Disciple of the Ring
2 x Confirm Suspicions
1 x Jace, Unraveler of Secrets
2 x Planar Outburst
2 x Tragic Arrogance
1 x Torrential Gearhulk
1 x Endbringer
1 x Crush of Tentacles

5 x Plains
7 x Island
2 x Prairie Stream
2 x Glacial Fortress
2 x Geier Reach Sanitarium
2 x Aether Hub
4 x Sunscorched Desert

Cause the only thing more annoying than playing against control is playing against control with Walls, and the only way I can enjoy running it is to use very silly cards.

Just thought of combo... Its lame and not really that effective, but it should do multiple damage with only 1 Desert:
Eldrazi Displacer and embodiment of insight.
Drop a Land, make the Desert a creature, blink it, then repeat with however much Land you have. I Doubt it, but if the blue retreat's triggers worked correctly, it could become rather interesting...
Still a way to potentially abuse landfall triggers... Put it in a ramp shell and it could be quasi-playable. A blink shell could maybe work too...

Thanks Cucho. Think it might need something else for early control, but it's a tradeoff. I don't really want to get into Essence Flux, cause that's just taking away creatures from the sweepers later. Has anyone tried Glory-Bound Initiate in control? Probably good for some life and/or drawing Fatal Push away from the lands.

I think Blessed Alliance is better in a control shell

Been tinkering with Gruul Beats for a while now. I think I've found one that is fun to play and puts a strong emphasis on playing (and replaying) lands. Haven't tried it on the ladder yet, tho, and its def in the midrange category which is sort of a no man's land right now.

Here's where I'm at:

Creeps:
2 x Sylvan Advocate
4 x Makindi Sliderunner
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
1 x Rhonas the Indomitable
2 x Tireless Tracker
2 x Mina and Denn, Wildborn
3 x Grove Rumbler
1 x Samut, Voice of Dissent
2 x Reality Smasher
1 x Ulvenwald Hydra
1 x Omnath, Locus of Rage

Spells:
3 x Slab Hammer
3 x Harnessed Lightning
3 x Devour in Flames
3 x Nissa's Pilgrimage
2 x Explosive Vegetation

Other Goodies:
3 x Slab Hammer
1 x Ghirapur Orrery
1 x Nissa, Vital Force

Land:
5 x Mountain
6 x Forest
2 x Cinder Glade
2 x Rootbound Crag
1 x Looming Spires
4 x Evolving Wilds
4 x Sunscorched Desert

Hi guys, sorry I’ve been off my game with this round. New puppy still won’t let me sleep more than 3-4 hrs at a time which sucks bc I tend to have a hard time falling asleep. And when we’re awake she requires a LOT of attention. And she’s realized she’s cute enough to get away with murder. Alas, I’m not, so I have to keep hiding the bodies for her and playing dumb when the police come around. Its very stressful.

I’ve updated the OP with rule change and extended deadline.

Dont sweat on it buddy, this is pretty casual so lets not stress ourselves...

Hey Nomad/Flaky... do you guys really think the Jelly man fits on this pile?
I think it will affect the mana base to much... and I´m finally having some decent results with it, I can see the synergy.. but the swap is not so clear to me...

Nah. Honestly, I'd prolly cut the Cuts, too. That single mountain seems so out of place in an otherwise Golgari build. That would also let you take out the Gift of Paradise. I'd add 1-2 more Pilgrimage (prolly 1 to start and see how it goes) and 2-3 more removals or maybe 2 removals and a bomb? Also, what is the Tutor for? You don't find it to be too slow?

The cuts... are just fine but the Ribbons those are awesome they are basically a wincon and they have won more than a few games for me, the gifs are there coz ... more often than you think I end up not having more lands to fetch and they have also helped a lot with the BB in the early game.

I see what you think of tutor... and trust me I think its slow too...-this is the first deck it has fight his place for me- but it has the best synergy with Greenwarden and its just so awesome to topdeck it when you are sitting on a **** of mana.

This last pile is winning its place back to the top of the ladder so I´m leaving it be for a while.. I will revisit the Jelly man later on.
I think I´m just having fun with it so far...Retreat to Hagra... it´s amazing on a ramp shell!!! I can hear the moaning of the opponents when they have to unmake that filthy Jank!
