So I watched the first 2 seasons of Black Mirror. Does the series get any better? Like, there's some nice ideas where but the writing is all over the place, and then endings of almost every episode seem to invalidate any important message the episode was trying to give. At least there was one I liked a whole lot.

I don't watch Black Mirror, but people that enjoyed the earlier seasons say that the newest season's kind of off...like they don't even care anymore. So it probably wouldn't in your case, Lily.

I'm predicting that John Wick 3 will open with Wick having to rescue his pit bull.

Having seen neither Ferdninand or Coco yet, the first paragraph started off strongly.

Been reading a translation of the DB Super manga Goku Black arc...beats the chit out of the anime imo. Fight's more visceral, writing's a little less muddled. Zamasu being weaker, in terms of power, than Goku yet being able to immobilize him with paralysis techniques was neat. Nice alternative to ratcheting up power levels with each successive villain.

So on a facebook group i am in, someone found a Theros workbook. They haven't shared much beyond cover photos because they are worried aboutramificatipns but they DID say there was an extra God that was never featured in Theros.

A former WotC employee chimed in and said that it was probably released to the world by a relative not realizing what they were doing, and even said it was likely the mother of an artist.

On my phone, just figured I'd share real quick.

In other news, I seem to have contracted some combo of flu/bacterial illness, and this morning i woke up with my neck so sore I couldn't even keep my head level. Fun times.

It was nice to have Steven Universe back for a bit.

In an awkward segue, how does everyone feel about OK K.O.?
I have a like/hate relationship with it. On the one hand, I dig the aesthetic and references it goes for.
On the other hand, I find the writing and virtue signalling to be ham-handed and ugly and that's killing a LOT of whatever enjoyment I might find in it.

I don't think OK K.O. has any virtue signalling in it. If anything, it pretty much doesn't take anything seriously.

It really does. There are at least 2 episodes where they really hammer home a 'lesson'. (and I've not watched very many, in fairness, but I've seen those episodes more than most)
It just gets under my skin when it's done that way.

idk what virtue signaling is but I watched a few random episodes and as you said I really like the art style and tons of anime references but it felt excessively kiddy, even for me. I do want to go back and binge it when there are more episodes though.

Started watching Black mirror season 3, this one is a whole lot better so far. Also I just realized that "Black Mirror" is a reference to your phone as its screen is a black mirror.

Are you talking about the Captain Planet thing? Other than that, I can't think of any "lesson" that wasn't tongue-in-cheek.

The card episode had a very blatant 'representation matters' theme and the one where they turned into animals... well, that part could apply to a few things, but I read a lot of it as trans stuff. (though just because of the device, an argument could be made for furries...)

Oh god there's a furry episode? Well now I am scared.

I really liked the card one though, I used that episode to try and get a friend to watch the show. Wish I could remember my analysis of it though.

I don't think the furry episode was virtue signaling, it just said for everyone to be nice to each other.

Keep in mind Ian has been critical of the "sjw" side of SU's fandom and even liked a blonde depiction of himself, so if anything he's having fun with the concept.

I was a big RPG World webcomic fan back in the day, and I'm glad Ian's got a show now, but other that the one episode of OK K.O. that sort was a "wrap-up" of the RPG World story line, I just haven't really been able to get into the show at all.

Had a little dream that lead to a self-analysis based on fear, and I think my is vindicated: the things I'm most scared off is unjust incarceration () and societal collapse (), followed by the disruption of progress (), unnaturality () and lack of control ()

As much as I love the amazing world of gumball, I have to admit to being perplexed if it's really for kids.
They just had an episode making jokes about the golden girls...
