This is my work in progress. I have no idea what to do with the colorless mana sources. I tried making an Esper Spirts list first which was a HOT MESS.

2x Scrapheap Scrounger - embrace the grind
2x Glint-Sleeve Siphoner - card draw / energy on SNS
2x Gifted Aetherborn - embrace the grind
2x Matter Reshaper - card draw on SNS
1x Liliana, Heretical Healer - swing nilly willy with other creatures when she is onboard with SNS
2x Treasure Keeper - value with SNS
2x Bone Picker - all that creature dying means 1 mana Bone Picker
2x Thought-Knot Seer - weird/fun interaction with SNS
1x Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet - being able to actually swing with him due to SNS is fun
1x Gilt-Leaf Winnower - value with SNS
2x Distended Mindbender - super value with SNS

Noxious Gearhulk is very tempting but 6 mana ????

A few questions:

Let's say Khalitas attacks. He is blocked by something that will kill him and you throw Stamina on him. The two creatures die, but is the one he killed exiled?

Thought Knot Seer: the idea of him coming and going seems like it would be weirdfun, like you say. Being able to peek now and then at the opponent's hand, exiling cards and giving him card draw. Exciting.

Distended Mindbender: His trigger is upon casting; how does Stamina help, other than to bring back a 5/5 body (which isn't trivial, by any means)? You won't get the discard function out of him.

Dig the mirrorwing tech. Would glorybringer make sense there, using the blink to reset exert?


Thanks. Mirror wing is more fun then a powerhouse, but I will say that if you get a few ETB creatures out, it can give great value.

As far as Glorybringer, I am pretty heavy on the 5+CC already, but the removal may be worth it. As a bonus, it is a great target for Saheeli and Nahiri. Maybe I will try one in place of the tower.

LRH seems kind of hard to break. I mean, it does it's job well, but besides keeping a valuable creature alive through a sweeper, it really doesn't change the game much more than any other card. That is why I tried Mirrorwing. It can change a game by avoiding a sweeper, triggering lots of ETB effects and giving your forces +1/+1. If you have Mirrorwing out. If you have enough other creatures for ETB effects. If the +1/+1 makes a real difference.

I may try Stamina next. I have an ide that could make it more useful.

Dream scenario: play stamina on Seer, attack for 6, emerge with Mindbender, take 2 cards, Seer returns, get etb effect.

The single most fun and Broken target for Stamina is Lathnu Hellion. Just cast it in response to the pay energy or sac effect, you'll get 2 extra energy and keep the Hellion. You can cast it earlier to do 2 more damage, but the surprise effect for your opp who was counting on the Hellion dying is awesome. Add some fling tech and you've got some nasty sh/t right there.
Mirrorwing + Stamina + something like Bloodflow Connoisseur seems like fun too.

IMO, I think Stamina would work best with Fling type cards.

Stamina on a Drake, attack. Fling Drake. Fling Drake again EOT.

I wanted to go rakdos (and I'll probably still try it), but I can see others have already gone in that direction, so -1/-1 counters is a strategy that actually works with the staminas. I have a build on the PC that has been doing ok and I made this list from memory and tried to add a couple of new ideas. Barney'll love it.

I'm working on a Boros thing too, seeing what I can get out of some artificers.

That golgari counters wants a Soulstinger! Soulstinger Stamina is the height of rudeness.

I got 3 list in the oven, rakdos reanimator with SNS, blackdrazi SNS and Bant LRH.
The rakdos is fun but inconsistent so far I add some reunions and I think I will squeeze some space for the amalgams, the black drazi is a consistent midrange and the bant LRH is a tool box with the highest winrate full of ETB shenanigans and PWs.
I guess I will have to run qualifiers.

Jeskai Tokens time: I really like the interplay between LRH and the Aether Swooper/Chaser. Send it in, make your token, blink to survive a block and it comes back stronger with new energy, plus Goggles automatically reattach.

The Era/Roc engine does a nice job keeping thopters flowing, and LRH can be a great jumpstart to that.

Valor/Engineer can of course be super deadly in a hurry.

It's a good question as to whether Procession or Valor is more valuable there. Going infinite seems like fun, but it needs 3 of 4 Procession/Roc on the board to work, so it's not something you want to build around.

You're left with the question of trying for extreme width vs the flexibility of being able to pump the squad. Ultimately I think the latter's more valuable, especially as it channels value from your ground troops to your flyers.

I got inspired by that Mirrorwing earlier, along with the sublime experience of turning Stamina into a 2 for 1 plus energy with a Siphoner. Went Jund with it. Wanted more trample than I ended up with cause I hate wasting the +2/+0, but it's great on the Brawler at least. Got Rhonas and Arlinn in there to push damage through too.

Where did everyone go?

I'm trying to figure out why that Jund list above is under performing. Seems like it should be solid, but I keep getting awful draws, to the point where I'm wondering if I've done something to anger the Stainless algorithm. Any suggestions?
