Ahoy ahoy,

Past couple of days (I don't know if anyone else has been experiencing this so please sound off below) I've noticed that pages on the forum sometimes take a long while to load, from the usual near-instantaneity I'm used to, up to 5-15s/page served. I ran a quick webpage test and it looks like a lot of time is getting chewed up in the autocard.js, hearthstone.js, and some of the various CSS files. A few questions:

1. What's the workflow look like on the NGA backend? I'd love to help poke around with the js and serve up pages faster.
2. Any idea why we'd be seeing slowdowns in the past couple of days? Am I the only one experiencing this? Am I, like all of us must ultimately, losing my mind?
3. (Not to shame anyone here, never to shame anyone) Are we really manually mapping all of the Hearthstone autocards?

Love and professional courtesy,
JV

I've seen a drastic slowdown as well, most intensely when going from the index to the YMtC forums. I thought it was just me as well.

Well, I've access the YMtC forums from three different devices (home laptop, work computer, mobile phone) and have encountered the very slow page loading each time. Each other sub-forum tends to load much more quickly.

Yeah Yarium's got the right of it, looks like it's navigating directly to the subforums that's slow. The main forum.nogoblinsallowed.com page load speed looks fine.

Lol at the idea that the mods pitch up often enough to act in a timely fashion

Checking in! Can't speak for the other boards but loading YMtC from anywhere still feels slow as hell

i'm not entirely sure there are any mods left tbh

at least lazarus and scarlet are probably contactable but i doubt either of them would have the priviliges necessary to fix the issue or let you fix the issue, although they might have some way of contacting whoever does

you could try pming either or both of them

I'm fairly certain I have the privileges, but I tend to avoid the technical side of things because I don't know what I'm doing. That's usually Welder's domain, but Welder's been really busy lately and hasn't been around much. Unfortunately I don't have any off-site contact info for them.

Hey guys! Sorry about all this - like Lazarus said, I've been pretty out-of-touch lately, and only just now saw this thread. I left contact info for the mods so this shouldn't happen again.

Are people still seeing the slowness? I've been clicking around and so far things seem relatively quick. The server was recently restarted due to an OS update, so that might be giving some (probably short-term) improvements, and I'm certain we can improve how things work overall.

@Johnny Valdez - I'm happy to talk over what we're doing and how! PM incoming. Careful, though - this is basically how I ended up with this job in the first place. :)

I'm still seeing the slowness. YMtC took ~25 seconds to load just now. If it helps, it only happens when I'm logged in, and only when loading forums.

Just a heads-up: I'm trying out a change that might improve page load speeds quite a bit. I've been told that the change should be seamless, but if things go down for a bit around midnight PST, that's why.

[edit] Aaaand we're back!
