I think it's pretty close between wanderer and dark betrayal. Let's say there are 2 other black decks out of 7. So 1/3rd of the time we don't face one in 3 rounds (1/4 in 4). I kinda think we want the regenerating chump skeleton.

I'm going to go with dark betrayal here, because I seem to really want to hate on any other black players in our pod.

while this card is perfectly decent, we need more removal, and there's going to be at least one or two other black decks out there.

Blood-Toll Harpy

Man, black and blue was pretty cut this pack. Guess we should have splashed white earlier on....

I will never get this mentality. To me, we're seeing our colors cut because we didn't declare them loudly enough. Being more wishy-washy and sending more mixed signals is not a path to being shipped exactly what we wanted.

But the harpy is pretty nice.

This set is all over the place with color and mechanic diversity in its packs. In my pod on Friday, there wasn't a single white-based heroic deck because the packs didn't have enough heroic creatures, and two players hate-drafted good heroic guys in pack 2. I don't see how choosing bad cards later in packs for the sake of staying on-color to "send a signal" that XXXX color is closed is better than cutting hard on the color that has presented the best cards and then keeping your 2nd and 3rd color options open as a means to pick better cards later in packs.

I agree that color signals are part of draft, but if you get too caught up in that you'll compromise your own deck strength for the sake of psyching everyone out. I'd rather pick cards in packs 1 and 2 that give me equal opportunity to draw well and win it all as draw poorly and go 1-5 than pick worse cards that send signals so that I MIGHT get the strong on-color cards in pack 3.

Uh we took all the black cards we could in pack 1. Harpy is nothing to complain about. It's pick 7 so we are the last ones to see it.

Isn't it great that we have three playables to choose from by pick eight?
