For the record, your stories with Fisco would also be "related works." ;)

A fantastic evolution of "Deals and Devils," more brilliance with Fisco and just a fun and engaging story. I feel a little bad for Daneera for everything she's had to go through, but hey, I sort of put her through the ringer myself, so who am I to talk? I really enjoyed this, and I think I can honestly say that it is for more than the simple fact that several of my characters were brought to live in it.

The following are things I found issues with, but don't warrant changing.

Spoiler

The following are things I expect to be fixed when it's submitted -- as in, I will fix them if you don't provide a good reason they should be.

Spoiler

This final spoiler is my overall impressions with the work:

Alright - a few of those were simple grammar errors because LORD FORBID I ever type something slow enough for my brain to process that I'm not using the write letters.

I swear, one of these days I'm going to be so excited over submitting something that it's just going to be a jumble of letters. And I'll still be just all like "READ IT FAAASTER".

Ahem. It's fixed anyway.

Yea, the scene with Diana was necessary for pulling Daneera into the scheme. Fisco planned it, but did not prep Diana with what to say. He knows Diana well enough to know that she would say what was right - even if it did not entirely sway Daneera to cooperate, she would at least know that he commanded Diana's respect.

Basically, Diana was a show of strength, but Xeran was a show of power, if that makes sense. (And this is not the last you have seen of either of them DUN DUN DUN!)

DaneeraDianaDaneeraDiana. Yea, no, writing that scene was such a pain in the ass. But they were both already established characters so I was basically screwed. T_T

I find the whole name thing interesting. I've never really encountered the problem unless the name is VERY similar, as in, one or two letters off, but I'm encountering the problem on a forthcoming project. Not me, mind you, but it's been mentioned to me. Hmm.

I know one thing I try to do is vary how I label people. For instance, if "Diana" and "Daneera" were becoming a problem, I would often say "the angel" or "the planeswalker" or something like that. I don't know if people like that or not, but it's what I've always done.

Reminds me of a bit in Stephen King's memoir, where he recalls changing a character's name from Ostermeyer to Olin because he thought he might wind up narrating the story for an audiobook at some point, and didn't want to have to keep saying Ostermeyer over and over again.

I never did respond, but I skimmed to all the points that I brought up and, while I don't actually think all of them were really necessary, I do think it reads a bit better now.

And like I said, I think Diana is a great angel name, and I loved the whole interchange she had with Daneera. Honestly one of the highlights of the story. I am quite interested in Diana's (and, to a much lesser extent, the devil whom's name I forget) origin story. Why is she working for Fisco? What plane does she originally belong to? Doe she owe him, or does he control her? It's a compelling mystery.

Recent discussion says the 3 non-abstain votes this has is enough to accept it into the Archives.
