Didn’t someone try something like that in Giocher’s pauper round? But... 4c? Having a hard time figuring out what might entice you to go beyond Jund. Willbreaker?

No blue, :r: for the steal spells, :b: for sac effects and removal, :g: for briars and fixing and :w: for hidden stockpile, Ayli and angelic purge. Add in a bunch of walkers and voilá: a 4 color mess.

Seems like Bloodbriar would be a decent fit in a standard greenish revolt deck. I was hoping for something truly outrageous and painful for the proposed break-a-card. Like, I dunno, Munda, Ambush Leader.

Just trying to preserve some of your precious rank... Anyway, everybody knows that all allies except for Gideon are unplayable bollocks and completely unbreakable.

More than that, I think these contests are best focusing on commons and uncommons. 2-ofs just aren't great for building around.

At some point I wanna do a round with Cliffhaven Vampires as the build around. Maybe make it a special 2HG round.

My 8-year-old son put together an Orzhov damage/lifegain deck, he's based around vampire allies and angels, and the allies work. You get some Kalastria Healers out and it's not hard to do some serious damage, just putting out creatures. I mean, it's as susceptible to sweepers as any creature deck, but I've had some surprising victories, and it's fun as hell in 2HG!

Oh, sorry your right... We've been playing cards like efficient Construction and Sly Requisitioner, allies are actually quite good.

Especially Stonework Puma.

It's a Cat and an Ally! Clearly the centerpiece of an overwhelmingly fantastic tribal hybrid.

That also happens to trigger Efficient Construction! Pinky! Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

I think so Brain, but how DO we cast Defiant Bloodlord on turn 3?

T1 Mountain + Bloodlust Inciter.
T2 :r::g: dual + Vessel of Volatility.
T3 Mountain. Crack the vial with the Mountains, cast Champion of Rhonas, give him haste with the Inciter and exert the Bloodlord into play.

There you have it...

As you may know, I’ve been playing what I consider to be the best five decks in Duels. I play them each day and once one of them gets two losses in a row , it’s eliminated. I’m happy to announce the 5th place deck just got eliminated so I can reveal it.

It’s Havens Grixvolutions deck. The first time I played this deck I went on an 18 game winning streak. It can win out of nowhere. I pulled off a 13 win streak at another time as well. It finishes with a record of 43-7 and I’m happy to declare it as the 5th best deck in Duels as per my testing .

Thanks Haven!!

I've actually built and am testing the Arena version of the deck. Does the version you just delete have those awful Sly Requisitioners?
Glad to be rid of those cards.

I actually ressurected this deck because of your success with it in duels Barney. Thanks for that.

Yeah it still played the Sly guys which is dumb cuz I should have asked you to optimize it. But honestly they have won me games when I have those 1/3 red guys who ping when artifacts enter play. I actually would have won the second game with him today If i had sacrificed a Bomat Courier to create a 1/1 who would have pinged for 1 damage when the guy was at 7. I drew Flamecaller Chandra with Bomat and would have swung for lethal. Whoops

Well, 5th place in barney's all-in top Duels decks isn't bad at all and warrior's Guild is still in the running (Probably end up 4th... Lol), not too shabby. :D

Yup you got two in the top 5. You need to always make my decks for me. :)

I learned something while making this deck. Magic is not, in fact, a zero sum game. There's a limited amount of fun to be had in a single game, and this deck will ensure no one has any of it. I tried a few builds that included (read: tolerated) Efficient Construction, but none were "breaking" the card. The next logical step, then, was to make it effectively my only win-con.

Methodical Construction

Artifacts (19):
4 Renegade Map
4 Implement of Combustion
4 Alchemist's Vial
3 Filigree Familiar
4 Implement of Examination

Interaction (14):
4 Metallic Rebuke
3 Lightning Axe
2 Imprisoned in the Moon
1 Kozilek's Return
1 Radiant Flames
3 Unlicensed Disintegration

Enchantments (7):
2 Pia's Revolution
3 Efficient Construction
2 Thopter Spy Network

Lands (20):
2 Drowned Catacomb
2 Sulfur Falls
2 Dragonskull Summit
7 Island
6 Mountain
1 Swamp

Game plan: Use cantrips and Maps as required to hit land drops early, leaving them on the field where possible to enable Rebukes. Efficient Construction is critical - after it's down, cantrips make for a limitless supply of chump blockers. Spy Network functions as a slower EC for the most part, but its card draw leads to cantrips leads to more EC thopters.

Pia's Revolution can lead to early wins if Opp gets greedy and denies artifacts. Doesn't take many bolts to the face before Disintegrations and thopters can sneak in the last few points. If Opp opts out of the bolt-to-the-face program, the cantrips just come right back and make EC thopters on the way.

Lightning Axe does a nice job of making late game Rebukes look less awful, and Disintegration played well enough to justify the splash for it alone.

Lost track of the exact record somewhere around my third rum and coke, but I believe it was 8-6 with one loss due to a pretty egregious punt. Lots of room for improvement, but I kept the list pretty plain to make sure EC was the highlight.

We were talking about bad decks on the discord and @Haven remembered me this thing... Jesus Christ this thing was awful!
Thanks for making Barney and Soup play it!
:D
Ps: I crack a couple of laughs revisiting this thread, fun times at Soups Vila.
