Ok so Barney likes Havens deck the best since I went 6-0 with it. I think Waltz is absolute trash but Hazoret Monument is pretty fun. I will foil Havens deck to honour it. Now and always.
Yes I agree Waltz is a piece of crap... the monument is far more fun, and when it gets going it can be hilarious, the ability to cast Bloodmad Vampire for 1 mana while cycling your hand is awesome. I think I should loose extra points for the decks name ....I mean its just so lame... that it hurts!

For the next round I think efficient construction sounds Janky enough, I remember a game on the lifegain contests where Wintervoid faced that abomination and it really shined making thopters like there was no tomorrow. I also like supernatural Stamina...
on the janky enchantments area I suggest:

3 x Efficient construction
2 x Drake haven
2 x Aid from the cowl
2 x Call for unity
2 x Sigil of the empty throne

PS: Flaky we are going to run a casual block league for iOS if you are interested ;D

Soup, what say you? Was Havens deck your favourite? I'd give Cucho 2nd place. I wouldn't even give Flaky last place.

For me, it was:
1. Haven
2. Cucho
3. Flaky
4. Nomad :(

My rankings are actually disappointingly close to yours, Barney

1 Haven_PrimalTerrier's Bloodsuckers, Inc. 5/5*
2 CardboardNomad's Gimme the Loot 3/5
3 TheFlakyMage's Waltzing Brunhilde 2/5
4 Cucho Lambreta's This Waltz is Madness 1/5

*Technically 5/6, owing to a mana flood, which is not a condition that occurred in any other game with this deck.

So, we agree that Haven took this contest. Even though he didn't include Macabre Waltz, even if I docked him a star for that omission, it'd still be sitting above CardboardNomad's Gloot. This was a solid, fast entry that worked so well with Hazoret's Monument that I was sure I must be cheating. My favourite combo has to be having the monument out, casting Insolent Neonate (), then madnessing Incorrigible Youths (), and then another Youths (). 5 Mana and a devastating wave of vampirism hits the floor running.

Interestingly, we both agree that Flaky was a solid third place, as well. Good job, Flaky; you're technically still on the podium and Bronze is worth $1.64CAD/lb.! That's not nothin'!

But then Barney and I split on who gets silver. Cucho clearly was orchestrating my loss of ranks from his fashionable undersea lair, so he deserves not only to lose the competition, but also to be shot in the knee. Silver should go to CardboardNomad.

My recommendation for the next contest is that the two winners should each choose 1 new card to break. I would be willing to judge (harshly) for the next competition, if anyone wants me to.

Good job soupy! And congrats to Haven_potatoe for finally taking down something for Portugal.

I think we should really insist in the next round that people play max copies of the card to build around cuz these cards are TERRIBAD and obviously running less copies of them will make for a stronger, more consistent deck. I'd like to see which deck is able to overcome the handicap.

And again, I'm really surprised no one tried building a radkos madness deck with max copies of Monument and Waltz. They seem to go together and 3x Unlicensed Distintegration gets along with Monument as well, and then I can have me some good removal which was devastating against the mono-white decks I played against.

I'm looking forward to playing Bloodsuckers Inc in the wars to come.

Duels is such an odd game...

I just put together a really aggressive mono black deck and got wrecked by 3 control decks in a row... Then, when all hope was lost I played 1 more, I mulled to 4 (but decided to play it anyway), got completely mana flooded (drew 8 lands and 4 non-land cards, with a 20 land deck) and actually beat a superfriends deck... Go figure...

(I then made some slight changes and went 4-0 with the new version)

If my deck comes in anywhere but last, both judges will need to be fired. I had to play several games with it before winning one and that guy prolly quit from boredom (his fault for not being able to beat me). I just submitted it instead of the madness build because we already had 3 madness decks and I wanted to be different.

*ahem*

YOU'RE FIRED!!

Srsly tho, mad props to Barney for winning 3 in a row with that janky garbage. :P And a huge thank you to the judges for giving us a verdict. GJ Haven for breaking the terrible Monument!

I really like Soup's suggestion for having the winner(s) pick the next card(s). My only qualm is that if we continue to do 2 cards per round and both players pick very different cards we could end up comparing apples to meatloafs or some such.

I'm also fine with Barney's suggestion of max copies. I still prefer that both players don't need to use both cards if they don't want to tho.

I'm going to pick the cards for the next round since I already had something in mind but after that, I think we should move to a winner's choice system. I'll be posting the next round in a few minutes. I want to make a few updates to the OP in this one first tho.

What is a casual block league? I prolly won't join because playing on my phone can be incredibly frustrating (its not a plus model so the screen is really too small for this game) but I'm still curious.

I have a rakdos deck that runs 19 lands and you can only get mana screwed when you keep a 1 lander.... In fact that is one of the meanest decks I have created... I had little faith in it until good old Barney took it 13-0 (before he lost two games in a row and rage deleted) I have run a few modifications and long time ago it reached its final form... use this to recover your rank ;D
PS: dont keep one landers!

Spoiler

PS2: Flaky is just a bunch of guys playing once a week with decks from specific blocks, all play all.
Round 1 is ORI BFZ and OGW, half of the people there play on iPhones
Soup you can also join if you want dare :V
