It has better pacing at least.

I finally got around to buying my first few boosters of Ixalan today, and I think this set and I are going to be good friends. I opened Admiral Beckett Brass and a Jace, if that isn't a warm welcome, I don't know what is. I feel like drafting the hell out of it when I've got time again in November.

I managed a Tishana and Foil Jace in the same pack.
Overall, I'm pretty okay with things. Except the Dinosaurs. Mechanically, they're surprisingly dull.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the Majin Buu/Fusion Sagas. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE.

Lets be honest, almost all shonen anime/manga are preeeetty bad in terms or originality and content. BUT I still enjoy a lot of them, they all have pretty great moments. Some of them are super amazing.

Also opinions are opinions and I go through phases of liking everything and hating everything so *shrug*

I feel like my attitudes towards anime are very unfair, but after everything related to internet anime fanbases I can only really handle things like Ghibli movies and other things with non-stereotypical artstyles.

I made a script of Terryl Whitlatch's The Katurran Odyssey.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yO4 ... iCGic/edit
https://www.patreon.com/posts/13403769

I've always been nervous about the copyright implications (it is a very faithful script, though it has some things like carnivorous Thalassodromeus and some character expansion), but patreon has been cool about it and Terryl Whitlatch hasn't reacted when I showed it, so I guess its alright.

Now with the EU copyright renewal act, I'm not so sure. It kind of means a lot to me, but my personal projects have taken over most of the storage drives, and I have to fear for those too.

I guess I'm trying to ask you to read it one last time, in case something happens.

edit

I've finished The Tyranny of the Night. It was a very different beast from Cook's more famous Black Company novels. And this one went in the extreme opposite of the last few Black Company novels (where I felt like Cook was meandering toward the end). The chapters detailing the adventures of Shagot the Bastard and his brother Svarvar could have easily spanned five books - they go from random lunkheads that no one in their village liked to undead, god-touched draugr that brought about the end of their peoples' major myth cycle.

I believe I'll continue on with this series. The learning curve is far steeper than the Black Company, but after I got my bearings, I found myself enjoying how these random mercs, soldiers, priests and mages kept running into one another against a backdrop of holy intrigue and religious warfare.

Guys, I'm about at my wit's end at trying to make sense of my Vraska deck.
So I'm open to suggestions at what to do with it. Every change I've made has just broken it further.

Do you mean that the deck's too Spike for a character-themed kitchen table game? Or that it is veering off from Vraska's character in terms of your creatures/spells?

Part of the problem is trying to even peg down her character now.
But beyond that, the deck has two problems.
1) It's not nearly good enough to even worry about being too Spike.
2) There's BARELY any green in the deck and it's really hard to justify its presence.

Cockatrice and deathtouch could fit the "death with a glance" theme. Maybe mirror hemed cards?
Creatures actually made of stone would be an option, but aside from certain arts for naturalize, it doesn't help with the green problem.

Well, right now, the only thing I have in there is Trophy Hunter and a spoonful of assassins.
But the more Captain Vraska comes out, the more even the assassins feel wrong.
I might have to rearrange the theme to be outlaws and misfits instead, which comes with its own problem set.

What are the rules for your decks? I scratched up a fun deck idea for her, but I'm not sure it conforms to what you restrict yourself outsie of flavor.

Single copy rares, commons and uncommons strictly more than one copy, post 8th edition frames only.
Final destination.

...yes, I know I'm weird about building decks.

Is this a 3-2-1 situation where I only build with three copies of each common, two of each uncommon, and one of each rare/mythic with no more than three or four rare+ cards? Do I get to use playsets for commons?

The only rule is just that rares are single and everything else isn't.
The actual rare count just depends entirely on what fits. Sarkhan, for example, is just loaded with rares.
