A funny story is that my brother uses the sword of the Witch King of Angmar to scare the schnockers out of trick-or-treaters by sitting on the porch dressed as a black figure, but sitting still until they get to the door, and then rising up with the sword in hand. The coolest thing about it is that if you put your finger into the notch at the top of the hilt, the sword is perfectly balanced to control with only one hand instead of two.

Well played.

Neosilk, I'm going to throw open signups for the Middle Earth adventure. I've almost finished some console gaming and will be able to support a 2nd adventure. I'm wondering how interested you are in a Shire adventure. There are a number of hooks available for that region, depending on # of people, and I'm thinking about sixth level for the adventure where danger is still dangerous and fighter-types are still relevant.

Anyone interested in joining a romp through Middle Earth? There are many maps we can use online, so the Shire will be easy to work on a pbp format.

If only there was a baseline adventure that started in the Shire....

But seriously, I'm pretty open to anything. Using one of the better documented locations can only help with maps and keeping people together.

For level, I'm open as well. I've been enjoying the start of the 4.0 game that I'm playing. So, I guess my main question is, did you decide between 3.0 and 3.5 (I think that was the 2 versions, right)?

My resources are 3.0 so it is a 3.0 adventure. However, if you have 3.5 it's not a problem. They are close enough that we could talk it out. I actually use 3.5 psionics in my Middle Earth books since it is so much better balanced. There IS a 3.0 SRD online. Just enter this address and follow links.

http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/ (3.5)

And

A lot people like to use Myth-Weavers for character stats.

OK - sign me up!
I'm thinking about (maybe) doing a half-elf cleric...but, that's not official yet...depending on who wants to be what, and, how much time I have to read up on race/class, it could shift.

Sweet. For your half-elf, would this character originate among the elves (thus likely under the elven Valar), or else from the faiths of Gondor or Rohan in human realms (assuming a cleric).

Unofficially, of course... Heh

Cool. If they are from Rohan, that's easy, and I even have an easy idea of how you came about with that location, story-wise. Now, if you're from the Unified Kingdom of Arnor/Gondor, you could come from either half, or even from a distant post in the frigid Grey Mountains. While the spiritual center of the unified kingdom is the sister-cities of Osgiliath and Minas Tirith, you don't have to be there, as you could be assigned at a post anywhere in the kingdom, or out on a mission pilgrimage. You have a lot of options here for an interesting back story and a half-elf is a perfect race for a missionary priest as most are not as tied to their birthplace as normal humans.

You know, I could be talked into a baseline (1st level) Shire adventure if more join. If it's just you, you'll need the extra levels and hit points. There might also be a chance of letting you play two characters (or else I role-play an NPC so you don't have to talk to yourself). We have options.

Yeah...I'll have to think about that a bit more, assuming I do go as half-elf/cleric.

This will (literally) be my 2nd RPG game in over 20 years...so, playing 2 characters is pretty unlikely, I'd hope more that a few others decide to jump in.

I think I need to wrap up at least one of my games before I sign up for another, otherwise I'd sign up.

I've been putting off work on some of my FAQs and Handbooks already as it is. Haha.

I feel similar to BH, I have a lot of games I'm currently in. But it wouldn't be very fair to Neo to be on his own... umm, I might be able to squeeze in another game, I guess. But I lack the books for this particular edition.

Most of 3.5 can be found via the SRD and is the same as 3.0, there some 3.0 SRDs that arent quite as good as the massive 3.5 one but still usable.

And then its just a matter of which books the DM is allowing, in which case you could just use those books from that one place that you were that one time.

If you're already stretched thin, I'm not asking you to take more on. You're welcome, of course, but don't feel that you have to.

The SRDs are hyperlinked further up the post. Neosilk is potentially interested in a start-up adventure, but hasn't specified anything, so anyone else who joins is encouraged to think about either a mid-level adventure or a starter adventure. It can be in the Shire or other places.

I'll see what I can do. Neo, you're playing a cleric, right? I'll probably role some kind of meatshield for ya, then.

That's where I'm leaning right now...not set in stone by any means...still need to do a bit more research for backstory and all...honestly, I'm thinking that I might not be able to get started until after New Years...but, that might change...

Waiting could be good, frees up a lot of time for everyone, though I tend to just post anyways. And a little compulsively.
