Actually, it would be. This is different, NH...Chris and Drew talked to us.

This team (I've chatted with 4 already, maybe more on Monday) is talking WITH us, engaging and asking questions, discussing things they can discuss at this time.

Complete tonal shift and direction.

My bad, fel...I assumed most everyone knew about the discord server.

I don't see why not its easy to port to any console and if they stick to what they said where they want to see what the players want then it could get on console if the players want it enough.

I don't think it's an UI issue, but a problem to connect cross-platform. Even the almighty Blizzard doesn't allow d3 cross platform between pc and ps4. HS isn't even available on consoles afaik.

Well it does seem like these guys are on the up and up so far. Cross platform play was never announced. We can hope that happens but I have a really good feeling it will come to PS4 in alpha at least. The Pro model I have has amazing specs so I'm sure there will be no issues bringing at least to the PS4 Pros. I know that leaves a lot of people with regulars out and I'm hoping that's not the case but then again I'm pretty sure there's a lot of Pro's out there so far as that is the only way to successfully VR.
Now THAT would be sweet! I'm buying the VR setup for the fam this holiday season.
Arena in VR?
I may never see my family again.
LoL

Well as I said before and I'm going to keep a positive mental attitude toward it, this seems way more on the honest side of game development. Just having a beta and community feedback being paid attention to during the process makes me pretty confident that it will come out on all the originally advertised platforms. I just hope it hits ps4 before the colder weather takes hold around here as that's where I do the majority of my gaming. I really look forward to my son and daughter getting in on the groundfloor with me instead of what made me give up on Duels in the first place which was spending way too much time in the mancave playing and on here posting instead of spending more time with them.

This game wouldn't make much sense without cross-platform... they have to benchmark with HS (market leader). The depth of MtG is much better than HS, but it's harder to enter for newbies (a lot more diversity and rng). Nevertheless it also needs to be on par with the technology: crossplatform for convenience and player base, UI, easy matchmaking, tournaments, ladders etc.

Hrrm. This means if Arena is any good, I'm going to have to change my sig if Brainless Stainless isn't involved. What do I want more, a good game or not having to change my sig...?

I think it'll almost certainly come to Xbox. Microsoft has been making a huge crossplay push recently, even between different consoles, which is unheard of.

The chances of it coming to PS4 on the other hand...

The real question is do they support AI duels. It is much more programming so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't but they will lose a lot of potential player base without it. Grinding in pvp only is not my idea of fun.
This is what interests me the most, as well. My favorite aspect of Duels was the chance to play against AI and get rewarded anyway (the advertised randomness of the opponents left much to be desired, but that's another story). The best thing would be getting a single-player mode where I can select the deck for the AI... of course if I'm the one building the deck I'm not expecting rewards (anyone could cheat by making an all-lands deck ), but maybe also add a selection of prebuilt decks to select the AI's one from, which rotate together with Standard? That would be super-cool.

What do you think they mean with this? They aren't saying that their engine can derive the card effects directly from the text, are they? It could be feasible, I can't rule it out, but it would seem too ambitious to me.

From the discord channel, Alexis talked a bit about in game GRE:

Quote:
The GRE has learned many lessons that Magic Online paved the way for. The hardest stuff to code has been predictive/NP-complete problems like combat requirements and "could produce" mana effects

We'll have to test it first-hand.
Long gone should be the days in which Duels AI tapped every existing creature for a vehicle that won't even attack.

Are you allowed to say how you got in touch with the devs?

The developers are available on the discord chat to answer questions about the game to the community. I'm talking with one right now, and its 9 PM EST. Click the link under kryders name and sign up, THAT INCLUDES YOU CGB.

Try to be nice to the developers. Read the full message before asking something that likely already been answered. Please hold back on any entitled attitude about Duels since they got nothing to do with that mess.

Was looking into info after pondering exactly what that means and saw a few other answers from devs in chat:
Severside time tracking and rules that should stop cheaters and people trying to sit out the game.
Games will be serverside as opposed to peer to peer.
Deck editor has text search and name search.

I think it's what happens when you let a non-technical guy speak about technical matters. There is no need to have the game engine to read any card. If they have some parser for card text, it makes more sense to have it as a separate dev-only tool. The rules engine, on the other hand, is something that needs to be active during a game of Magic, so it is a part of the game engine.

Disclaimer: I wasn't there.

Why? We should feel entitled about Duels. They LIED to us, not Stainless, WoTC. They are responsible for that mess, and there's no reason we should pull punches, imo.

I'm with DJ on this; Stainless is responsible for being incompetent, but WotC is responsible for flat-out lying to our faces about the length of Duels viability, and the decision to cut us off mid-block. I'm aware that I'm disproportionately angry about that, but would it really have killed them to give us one more set and a Bolas walker? Especially given that they were cutting Stainless loose anyhow, it seems like one more set would have been nice for everyone involved. Wizards will have to work hard to get any money out of me, they already screwed me hard in the past. I haven't given them money for years now. (No 2015, no money spent on Duels, last purchase was 2014 base game, never got expansions.)

True statement. Everything becomes sorcery speed, to appease the nonexistent HS-only masses switching over.
