If you use Decoy/Assire/Last Wish with no cards left in your deck, and an Alba Spearmen on board, is there a potential infinite damage combo by just constantly allowing yourself to draw and trigger Spearmen?

Well, that means NR Armor is probably stupid strong right now.

I don't think Alba Spearmen trigger when you play Last Wish. Pretty sure I read something on Reddit about that.

Mulligan still seems really viable, they didn't hit it as hard as I thought.

Hm. Bummer. I'm still going to mess around and see if there isn't some combination of actions where I can set up a loop, but it may take too many steps/cards to be worth it. I just want to see if such a thing is possible.

Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure I remember somebody complaining that the text on Last Wish says draw but didn't trigger some kind of effect they thought it should trigger. Not sure if it was a Spearman but seems likely.

Or maybe I just had a really weird dream and none of this is true. :)

Let's assume Spearman does trigger from Last Wish? What's the sequence that goes infinite?

I think last wish's text is a bit misleading and what it should say is "look at the top 2 cards of your deck, play one and shuffle the other back". So no draw.

That's what I'm working on. If I have a draw effect in hand and the cards I shuffle back in are another draw effect and the Decoy, I'm trying to see if there is a way to properly sequence everything to always see both cards, allowing me to get a draw effect back and get the Decoy to reactivate Assire to repeat the process. I'm not at the Xbox right now so I can't really test, but it seems like there has to be a way to do it. Vilgefortz at least always guarantees me a draw by slamming him and melting himself, but I dunno. It's real easy to do until your opponent passes, the tricky thing is figuring out how to continue it when those cards stop drawing.

7 games played since the hotfix, with 6 being against NR. It's not a good match up for spies so I guess I'm a mill player now. How far I have fallen.

How does Mill do vs. NR? I'm still in the lab trying to get a mill build I really like, so I haven't played it on the ladder. Can NR just overpower it the way Elves could sometimes?

So you have Last Wish and Assire in hand, no cards in deck. You play Assire to shuffle back another draw effect and the Decoy. You play Last Wish to get the other draw effect, which draws Decoy. You use Decoy on Assire, and shuffle back Decoy and Last Wish. Now you have no cards in hand, and can't continue the combo (?)

Pretty good. All builds feature a decent amount of thinning and Peter is a f*cking powerhouse against Dumb Banana Heavies. Plus the only interaction they carry is Dethmold which isn't even used much and can't kill Avallac'h anyway.

Damn, I think you're right. I'm probably so used to Magic where you always have a draw. Well, it was worth a shot, but I think you're right. I'd need a way to loop draw effects, which I don't think you can do.

^The combo still lasts for however long you have draw effects though. Perhaps Mill could run weather or something, since it's capable of drawing rounds out very long.

First impressions on the hotfix:

No nerf for NR armor. I don't know if that's justified, but maybe I should start running Kayran which after all ignores armor. EDIT: Or not, since Kayran can't actually eat anything worth it ...
Nice to see how some ST nerfs were exactly as I had hoped for! On the other hand the golds weren't touched. Isengrim tutoring for Morenn is still an easy 19 power. A bit apprehensive about this but we'll see.
Kambi seems quite strong now. I'm sure last-two-cards Kambi + kill effect is going to get me a few times.
RIP Iris, getting capped at 25 power (minus the three required to kill her too) :( I guess triggering her at max power is still strong, but I miss those times when I triggered her for over 40 power.

Why did Summoning Circle suddenly get so popular? The card didn't change, right?

Peter?

Oh, the reset guy, nevermind

Summoning circle was popular ever since it was given the ability to copy any unit that appeared last (not just loyal opponent's), and remember it between rounds. Copying disloyals is especially problematic in some cases and I think it might get patched.

I'm really surprised they hotfixed the card without that change, copying spies is obviously a problem. Makes me kinda nostalgic for the days of throwing spies back and forth at each other.

Been running Iris in my spies deck (like a bunch of people recently). Turns out having a stronger Commander's Horn is really good, especially when you don't have to row stack for it. Starting to find my ground against NR too: Vicovaro Medic their Dumb Banana after the Shani res is fun times.

You got anywhere with your mill deck Vert? I've cobbled something together but I've yet to take it for a spin.

When I finally get some free time, I want to tinker with Spell'Tael. I think Sage/Protector are still strong enough to build a deck around. I really want to try opening the game with Ithlinne into Quen, shielding up and buffing those units as well.
