When you have a leader that strong it doesn't support an archetype as much as it potentially pushes out all other leaders from viability. Why play Brouver in a world where this exists?

If you're going to have a Demonic Tutor then there needs to be a downside to that. Old King Bran never saw play when he was the Demonic Tutor but that ability existed in a much different game than the one we're playing today. I wonder if his initial design would see play now?

I've piloted Elves to 35-15, and it's not like I am blowing people out. I suspect suspect the regression back to the mean is much less than what you guys suggest, which would just be making it unplayable again

The downside is the requirement to mulligan. Brouver just pulls a card. If you are built around dwarves, that's clearly better.

For the most part, Francesca is just digging for and pulling Braenn for me.

I'm 33-7, what the hell punished you? I mean I'm not 4K yet, obviously, but I've encountered my fair share of master tags during the climb and even facing other ST decks I feel very comfortable. Far too many people insist on blowing their load and trying to force a round one meta which is really easy to exploit. My main push was yesterday running Zoltan, Igni and Hailstorm which destroys the mirror and NR armor. I also run Yaevinn now because guaranteeing the Hailstorm draw is far too advantageous.

I've noticed that people are running discard variants a lot the past day or 2. Free wins. I'm sure there is a salvageable build there, but it isn't doing anything until mulligan tempo is hit.

I'm probably only .500 against NR Armor. Couple of random losses due to bad draws and bad plays. It's hard to focus when I just don't really like the deck.

Does anyone else feel like NR armor is too strong vs. control? Cards like Prince Stennis effectively add 10 power just from armor. It's a lot to damage through. I'm of course biased, so asking what others think.

Hi everyone,

Got a tip from Hakeem that there's some gwent-discussion here now, so just checking in after some prolonged absence.

I was top 5 global yesterday with this list with a pretty obscene winrate. Highly recommended, although takes some practice to figure out optimal Nenneke usage.

Got it from a japanese player Raikou who you can give a follow for some more great ideas, though unfortunately he doesn't speak English https://twitter.com/raikou_gwent

Hey Ordev, hopefully you'll stick around here with we few. I like small discussion spaces and a player of your calibre is most certainly welcome. :)

Hmm, why no Trollololo? The power res into Dumb Banana is stupidly powerful. I'd also play Keira over Phillipa. Not that I'd argue with your results, I'd just like to hear your reasoning for running certain cards over what others would call core to NR right now.

Stennis+Shani (and decoy on Stennis) provide enough armor value, the most important benefit of which is that its immediately turned into points on DBHC (pulled from stennis), and therefore it's not disruptable. Trolololo can be scorched, transformed into jade, armor shot off, and requires you to take a second turn to actually play/pull DBHC (and another card).

The general idea behind the list is play out all the cards and save nenneke followed by shani. Put DBHC back in the deck with nenneke, and use shani on stennis to immediately pull it out (the list thins to 0 other cards most of the time).

That way even if you are bled down to one card over round 1 and 2 (or choose to bleed your opponent), you can do a 5+3+18 (+3 if you also shuffle a BSC back) = 26-29 power from Shani. Nothing in e.g. mulligan ST can do that much with one card. So you bait them into long rounds making them waste as many resource as possible while saving your finisher. There is of course a lot of options with being able to shuffle back a commander's horn for a surprise boost with Natalis, but it's all about saving as much r3 power in as few plays as possible, taking advantage of the fact that many current top decks are great in long rounds but not so great in short ones. Trololo encourages an opposite strategy, and thus makes you very vulnerable to setup plays like zoltan+hailstorm.

Philippa is the only removal apart from Radovid so I wouldn't take her out, just to have something to deal with for example Succubus. I can see a Keira or maybe Roche in that slot though.

Ran into the Shani / Stennis / Decoy combo yesterday, suffice to say it wrecked my deck, hence:

I honestly find piloting Elves a chore.

Yeah, I've gone back to playing Nilfgaard. My winrate has dropped but at least I'm enjoying the game more, plus I think spies will be top tier when other decks are brought into line. I might even end up convincing myself to pilot mill just because it hurts the meta decks so much.

Speaking of spies, I think the card that says "destroy target spy" might be a bit too strong. It's true that there are other anti-big unit cards that are just as strong, but those aren't as good individually: Scorch can be blocked by a spy, Succubus can be killed, and so on. This card when comboed with the one that toggles spying status invalidates any strategy relying on big units without chance of counterplay.

Can't wait for the hotfix. Right now I'm sorely tempted to just forfeit every time I run into Francesca or Eithne in casual mode.

Has anyone tried Triss Butterfly post-patch? I meant to attempt it, but couldn't find enough cards to make it work - maybe with a consume hybrid or something. I've literally not seen her, although I did see some Yenn Con which always fell flat - I don't see her as viable when she dies instantly to Alzur's Thunder before she can generate value. At least Triss Butterfly with Roach would always get something, even if not much, in that case.

Yeah, Menno is pretty good and hilarious when paired with Letho, though I can't help but think Letho is a meme card. I'd just rather run Vilgefortz or something else.

I love Nilfgaard, it's my favourite faction by far. The toolbox is awesome and the way you access it and the thought you have to put into your lines of play is what makes it so enjoyable. It just doesn't sh*t out power quick enough right now. You can combo for stupid points but that usually requires a little bit of set up leaving you trying to catch up which is why the deck is a little behind the pack right now. Like I said they have to be very careful with the hotfix because it is only a half step behind and could easily be tier 1.

I think my main issue with Nilfgaard is feels very tight on space, especially in the silver and gold slots. I'd love to tech in stuff but the extremely synergistic nature of spies means it is very hard to find room for flex slots,

Yeah, I'm testing mill right now. Nilfgaard is more entertaining than Elves

Let's see...if I avoid Shackles...

Avallach + Renew = 4 cards

Albrich + Emhiyr + Cahir = 3 cards

Do you guys think an extra 7 draws is enough to consistently deck good decks? Spies and Elves certainly thin like crazy themselves.

Tibor is an extra 1 if necessary.

Hotfix is live, Skellige/Scoia/Neutral changes while Monsters/NR/NG didn't get touched at all.
