Well, I know it's possible. I'm not entirely sure what happens when you encapsulate something with tags (I suppose I could start firebug and find out...), but you can set foreground color on hover with both javascript and CSS, so I can't imagine that it's actually a problem.

I mean, you already do autocarding.

That's why I said it should be possible. ;)

A few days ago you briefly had a separate "Announcements" section above the main block of posts. Something like that would be very nice for sticky posts to visually separate them. With the current layout, it takes more effort than it should to scan up the page and find the first non-sticky post. Having the stickies in their own block would make it far easier to see which threads have recent activity.

Alternatively, the sticky posts could have a different background color, or have a double border below them.

Sticky clutter is a problem. Putting them in their own section would help separate them from normal threads, but that makes the problem of users glossing over them entirely worse, and using the existing Announcements functionality for them makes it much harder to ensure actual Announcements are read.

I believe the most straightforward solution is reducing the number of stickies. The more stickies there are in a given forum, the harder it is to dig out the non-sticky threads. Three, maybe four stickies tends to be about as high as a forum wants to go, in my experience. Right now both the Metaboard and the Duels of the Planeswalkers forum are above that, but I think I see at least some consolidation that can be done in both cases.

It is easy enough to implement any of the suggestions — a separate Stickies section, a different background color, an extra separator — but I will defer to Althalus' judgment on this.

Can we get beer-smiley?

Sure thing, :pint: away.

I'm not quite sure if this is where I should make this request, but I'd feel more confident if this account did not have the ability to delete posts -- if you can remove just that functionality without any of the other mod powers. Is there a way to retain the other powers without being able to delete posts?

Also, I'm not entirely sure how to lock threads (or if this account has the ability), so a quick explanation could help. Is a thread locked if all the posts in it are locked?

To lock a thread, simply scroll all the way to the bottom, and just above the search function should be a Quick-mod tools dropdown menu, with one option being "Lock topic" that you can select and then hit the "Go" button.

We can remove the "Delete post" functionality if needed as well.

Oh, I see it now. It's from "Moderate Forum" instead of "Moderate Topic".

Also, I just noticed for the first time, there is an edit button right here in the Metaboard for me.
*goes to check*
Yep, it seems I have editing powers across all boards. That shouldn't happen. I thought this account was restricted mod access to just AF&S and M:EM boards?

Yep, we just noticed that too. We're trying to figure out why. Please don't abuse it. ;)

This should be fixed now. Sorry about that!

If there's anything you need to be able to do that you can't anymore, let us know and we'll sort it out.

Is there a way to make it so dice rolls are visible in the thread review on the Post Reply page? I always have to reopen the thread in a new tab to check the numbers. I feel like it's probably because the thread review just copies the text over and so the dice rolls aren't "connected" to the original post and cannot be displayed.

I've wondered this before as well. But I know its a common trend between all forums I've been on with dice mods, that in post preview you cant see the actual sum of the die but just 'code'.

I've gotten used to having one tab open on one screen in thread, while having the other open on the main screen typing my reply.

He's asking about the thread review, below the full post editor.

[edit] I actually have no idea where the topic review is generated. Hm. I'll look into it.

OK, found where the topic review is generated. The problem is, as BH guessed, that the dice codes have no idea what post they come from, so the parser think "What the heck is this?!" and spits out "Invalid dice code". Now to find whether there's a way to tell the dice codes whence they came...

Which explains why I never got one for naming this site. =P

I never got a custom title either, not even on WotC ... so... yeah.
