Yeah, I can see it without Crones. Honestly, Monsters are pretty thin at the silver slot.

If Barney is a slave to mockery then let's mock him for not playing Gwent until he caves.

Who can handle this challenge?

If your deck is set, do you still draft with scraps or just sit on them

Why would generic 13 power silver not be impressive? I mean, you're running Jotunn, and that's a card that has a maximum of 12 power. Sure it could add more if you move non-weathered units into an empty weathered row, but it could also add less if the opponent doesn't have 3 side-by-side units. I feel like there are so many silver cards I want to run but just don't have the space for since the crones provide such valuable thinning. Frightener, Fiend, Fire Elemental, Water Hag, silver weather (particularly looking at Skellige Storm at the moment), and so on.

I also want to at least try Octvist. Passing problem could be mitigated by winning round 1, which is something I get the feeling that I'm giving up too easily and too often. What's your opinion on this situation: you vs. Crach an Craite, with you going first. You have Celeano Harpy, Earth Elemental & crones in hand. Which do you play? Whatever you play, he responds with War Longship. What do you do now?

My games have been going crones -> pass. The alternative is to lead Earth Elemental, then weather his Longship, but then he plays 2nd Longship and the discard damage really starts stacking up. Hakeem as the player from the other side of the board what do you not like to face in this situation?

Oh and I want ALL the gold cards - Geels Caretaker Woodland Spirit. So jealous of Mr. rich man over there ...

@Barney the game is good, you should play :D

I hate it when I don't draw any ships or when they get dealt with. Fog isn't a problem because deploying a second ship gives time to play Bran and Pirate before they die, while Frost will kill one before I get to play my Pirates. I like seeing the Earth Elementals and Harpies come down because the ships will crack them open and I will have more carryover than them while I bleed them out in R2.

I used to just craft interesting gold options for other clans, but that was stupid until I actually want to play one

The MMR in Gwent continues to frustrate me. I'm at something like 109-50, like 4090 MMR or whatever and ranked like 35th overall on Xbox One and there are these guys ahead of me with losing records.

Yet, at above 4000, a win is like +20 MMR and a loss is like -30, so you need to go 3-2 just to hold steady. So how are some of these people up there? Did they lose their first 200 in a row or some ****? Is there an exploit to quit without losing MMR? I'm so confused.

They've changed the MMR distribution several times, so it's possible some people were up near the top already. There are breakpoints at certain MMRs where the gains and losses change, I think 2.5k and 4k are major ones from what I read on the subreddit.

There was also a post once about how a guy with a losing record was in the top 10, and the guy responded to it as well as a dev IIRC. I'll try to dig it up and edit this post if I find it.

Edit - Yeah I tried, can't find it.

overall score means nothing in this game. After 4000 u need winstreak to push here. u can reach 4000 even with less 50% winrate. before that u can try garbage decks losing often and climb. These guys just made good deck after a lot of losing and get there.

Hence why I say the MMR system frustrates me. If you are playing similarly leveled players, a loss should be -30 and a win should be +30. That just makes the most sense, and if you are matched with someone above/below you, you just deviate from that number. The harm for losing at low ranks is completely nonexistent.

There is already Casual Mode to test out garbo decks.

I've ran the 3rd Wild Hunt Hound a bit and I'm thinking the spot would be better served to be an Ekimara. The ekimara would give me some defense against things like Blueboy Lugos and an extra trick to deal with the Cow carcass, while also allowing me to get more value from Harpies round 3 if the match plays out that way.

Lol 4090 MMR really puts you in the top 35 on the xbox? Is anyone a master on console? Thats not even top 3500 on PC. I wonder what the player base sizes are for each? Do you have to wait for games at all?

I know, it's sad. I use cross-platform play, so I have no problem getting a match and I'm playing similar ranks on PC, there are just way more of them. I think 1st is only like 4350 or so. It's a pretty thin player pool, which is fine by me, I'll take the easy climb. I don't have the time to try to play 1000 games or whatever.

I think last I checked, the Asian bracket only had like 80 dudes total or something.

How do you see the Xbox-only leaderboard if you have cross-platform play enabled? Genuinely curious.

I dunno, it's all I am able to see. Maybe because I started as xbox only?

I started as Xbox-only in closed beta until they opened the money shop, been cross-platform ever since. I can't see this mythical magical leaderboard. I'm probably just dumb though. :)

On another note, I just hit rank 17. Moving on up!
