Hey guys, my buddy is starting to get burned out on Gems of War and is wanting to come back to play some Magic Duels. He's a little overwhelmed with the options right now and since we have some enthusiastic, talented deck builders and Cucho, I thought that maybe someone could whip up something with his collection which looks like this:

Origins : 100%
Zendicar : 70%
Shadows over innistrad: 80%
Kaladesh: 0%
Amonkhet Block: 0%

I'm thinking of trying to find Kryder's SOI Fight Club season and just sending him the top decklists from that maybe?

Just remember that he'd be playing in the current meta.

I've advised him to spend gold on the 33% discounted Amonkhet boosters until the special ends and then to only buy Kaladesh.

That is a solid list and would be competitive on ranked, nice work!

What about good old Elves? Otherwise Nomad's white weenie deck looks solid.

Both are an auto-loss to sweepers but fairly solid otherwise.

Does he have Oath of the Gatewatch cards? You didn't mention that set.

WW does indeed look like a list you can play with basically ORI, SOI and Gideon. The list Nomad posted looks like a good starting point as well, though I'd probably change a few cards (not a fan of Solemn Offering, think Gust Walker (starter box!) has to be in)

BG Elves does not have enough payoffs I think. As in, even AER that added the t2 mana elf and a t1 deathtoucher wasn't good enough to make them close to competitive.

With those sets WW its a good bet, I thought thopters could be playable too, I try to build one... but its to slow for the current meta.

Could be alright; you are missing quite some things though (Chandra, Fall of the Titans, Crush of Tentacles) and your early-game removal suite is suboptimal (Fiery Impulse and Twin Bolt being your best bets).

If he already has 80% of SOI, I'd recommend he finish that (after the AKH sale ends) unless he already has most or all of the good cards. And then I'd say go EMN because 1. its a smaller set and 2. it has a lot of synergy with SOI. With EMN he has access to solid GB Delirium and RB Mad Vamp builds, and UW Spirits gets a lot stronger, too.

Is it for farming or to be competitive on the ladder? Either way I'd look at the WW or RDW options. He could do thopters too. I'll have a look at some point soon and hopefully give you a few more ideas so he's got some variety. Also what sort of decks does he like?

GW humans is pretty strong, especially after unlocking a few pieces from EMN.
