my -1/-1 counters on own creatures suggestion isn't going anywhere

Thanks, it has been pretty solid. Maybe a bit better then 50% at 40 on steam. It is pretty reliant on the Monument though, hence the underwhelming Trophy Wives. But man, when it gets rolling, it is tough to deal with. Fun also.

My suggestions
- Emerge
- Tokens
- Those filthy counters you want / there are some interesting synergies in that archetype
- Best mono: like you could submit your favourite mono deck of any colour
- Maybe we could try to build a creature less deck 1313
- Enchantments, auras, cartouches, etc..
- Graveyard interaction 1313

PS: deck submission update any thoughts?

My issue with a -1/-1 contest is I think there isn't enough variety in the available cards; I worry it would be 8 minor variations on exactly the same thing and a slog to test them all.

I like the other ideas. How about a best second-rate tribal (no humans, zombies or vamps allowed)?

PS there's no way your deck wins the contest for most removal. I can think of so many more removal spells you aren't even running here.

The thing about the -1/-1 tokens is that all the relevant cards are from Amonkhet, so the theme might as well be block based and someone submits that particular variant.
I'll suggest elf tribal again, because it sure would be a challenge to ressurect that particular deck.
Another idea is to have mandatory build around cards. They could be full-on nobody-in-their-right-mind-plays-them jank cards or just cards that the deck will try and exploit to their maximum potential.
Another interesting theme could be to build the 20 damage in one turn deck, like geistramp or fling a Drake or Marionette Master combo... It would be cool to see what other combos people could come up with.

Maybe we could try to build some sort of duels commander sort of thing, say you chose a legendary creature and build your deck around it?

Yeah i was waiting for HOD for the -1/-1 counters round, since we have few cards for a real deck, also few cards to have variety among deckbuilders. Maybe we could do it by mixing this theme with something else.

I see everyone's suggestions. Cucho's ideas seem fine, tokens seems reasonable i just need to think about restrictions, if i want to allow the aggro version and the go wide version in the same round. The other themes are fine too.

I have to check which elf cards we have in duels, it could be a fine theme, but not sure if there will be enough variety. Zombies had more possibilities, even if between creatures and removals the lists were pretty much the same. I will check elves.

Building around a card is something i want to try, the problem is i still have to figure out how to do it. I don't like building around one card only, i was thinking about something like i give 5 cards and everyone choose 2 of them building around both. But this could lead to completely different decks, maybe i should give only 3 cards, so everyone has at least one card in common to play around. Also, there is a recent thread full of interesting cards..

I also like the 20 damage combo challenge, as you said we have geistramp, fling drake, marionette master, rise from the tides throne and possibly other undiscovered combos.

Since we're stuck with these quests for a long time, how about combining:

Placing -1/-1 counters on your own creatures
with
Removing creatures from your own graveyard (since placing -1 counters on your own creatures often kills them)

Say...need to play at least 10 cards that do each?

On a side note, I have been considering making a deck that exiles ALL of your opponents cards. It would have to be vs an AI opponent, as you would have to play some real Jank to do it, but I think it is entirely possible. Killing all the lands off would be the biggest challenge imo. Also, last turn may be a bit tough. Need them to draw the last card, then exile their hand.

I went through my decks and I couldn't find anything that had more than 9 lifegain spells in it. But I'll be happy to playtest all the entries as per usual.

Im not sure what to do. I have a serious take, but it's very similar to Cucho's - maybe 10 cards different but the core is the same. I have a super jank one with stuff like Defiant Bloodlord and Tainted Remidy - it's won its test games vs AI but I'm certain it would be terrible on the ladder (prob able to Club Seals on xbone but sure to bomb vs serious decks on Steam).

Should I submit the serious one where testers will be playing essentially twin decks, or should I submit the super jank one that is sure to struggle and get no votes?

if not, give me the one that embarasses you most and I can submit it. I always submit other people's decks anyway so what's the difference
