Yeah, there's not much payoff in duels just for gaining a bunch of life; it seems most useful to buy a little time for another strategy.

By my count you have 13 lifegain sources there (don't forget angel of invention has lifelink). You could swap one offering for cast out.


I did some thinking last night, and I edited my decklist above. Basically, Bant now for Sages, and add 2 Blighted Steppes to keep lifegain high enough. Runs pretty well.

That list looks like it really wants some Essence Fluxs or some sort of blink spell other than the mechanics.

Or you could just build Orzhov Control goodstuff with Blessed Alliance, Kambal, Essence Extraction and other fun things.

Looks pretty strong, but why Caracal over angel of invention?


More focus to flip Riders. AoI may be better choice but I wanted to test with Regal and haven't been unhappy with it yet.

Want jank? Try using Campaign of Vengeance, that card is so bad I'm not even sure how it works, if its just 1 drain when you attack or 1 drain for each creature that attacks.

I have never seen anyone play that card (though I did consider it in orzhov Tokens, my doubts and the fact that there are plenty of better options just lead me to cut it...)

It's the latter. Only moves it from "one of the worst cards ever" to "still unplayable" though.

it makes me wonder what's the worst card on Duels?


Without looking at the cardlist my early lead would be Tainted Remedy. 3 mana, does absolutely nothing if your deck does not letzten the opponent gain life.

Throttle is not that bad; the only reason it's not seeing any play is because our cardpool has access to better removal spells. If you play Limited though? Decent enough removal spell to be a very solid common.

I'd rank very many commons below Throttle.

I just wish they had given us Felidar Sovereign. It used to bug me so much the AI had it in their decks for single player battles but it wasn't in our card pool. I was pissed when I opened my last pack that season expecting to finally unlock it, only to find out they didn't give it to us...

Heh, I accidentally goofed on my list. Only had 59 cards posted. I still had 2x Kambal in the actual deck from origional draft, when I thought I cut 1 copy to make room for Harvesters... not sure what I cut instead (probably a single Fatal Push or an Essence Extraction). Rather than add back a removal spell for the extra Kambal, I've added AoI instead. List updated to reflect the 60 cards.

I built a super jank version. I went Abzan and used Defiant Bloodlord along with Tainted Remidy. Tested 2 games vs AI and won both (felt good to cast Bloodlord and attack with Regal Caracal cats draining 7, then drain another 7 FTW with Nissa's Renewal the following turn) but I'm pretty sure It'd fold hard on the ladder...

Thought about aristocrats, but the first round was about revolt and many people went in that direction, so i thought it would be too much similar. Could possibly change rules a bit and try to make it work.
Emerge seems good though.
