After the death of Magic Duels and my departure from magic (no way I am putting a penny on MTGO), I have been having a ton of fun with this game, every game feels so intense and mistakes are extremely punishing, making wins feel very rewarding.

Who else from here is playing it?
Put your ingame name in also so I can add you, mine is Joly20

Hopefully we get friend matches on console soon. I start vacation today so I have a bunch of free time to get back into it. Haven't played basically at all since the last update, the only meta deck I'm aware of is monster swarm with Triss Butt (If that's even still a thing).

Cross platform is a thing but friend matches are only available to the PC crowd at this point. We console plebs are stuck to the queues for now.

Download it Barney.

They claim they are adding cross-collection between Windows 10 and Xbox One. If they do that, I'll play both obviously, but for right now I have money and time invested in Xbox.

Yeah monsters (Dagon in particular) is the new boogeyman. You get insta concessions if you bring the deck to casual. There are multiple variations of it (pure swarm, hybrid consume, weather heavy, etc...) but it's very strong (way too strong imo) without the opressive weather to control the swarm tactics. I've went from 1800 to 3800 MMR with 90% WR with my own hybrid consume swarm list and it was not even an "optimal" netdeck. I expect the deck to be gutted in the next patch

I know about that, have you heard any timelines for the Windows 10 version? I assume it won't land until full release of the game.

i downloaded it the second it became available, Matty, I just haven't had time to play it. I like play Duels still, and I need to finish up Battle Ages. Once that is done, then it's GTA V and Gems of War. THEN it's Gwent. That's my plan anyway.

I'm stunned by how stupidly powerful they've made Nekkers.

Forsen was playing the game for a while, you can imagine what his chat did with "Nekker".

Using GoG -> Jeydra

For some reason haven't been having that much trouble vs. Nekkers (possibly because my deck has multiple, possibly too many, ways to deal with large minions - Scorch + Fiend + Succubus). Swarm strategies are certainly strong however, and I'm using 3x Celeano Harpy + 3x Earth Elemental + 2x Thunderbolt Potions myself. I deal with them by frosting the relevant rows and drawing out the rounds as long as possible.

I also started running the crones again. After removing the Ogroids, turns out the mulligan issues are much more bearable.

Our decks sound pretty similar except for the gold slots.

This is what I used for my climb to masters if anyone is interested. It isn't able to either consume or do the buff swarm as well as the fully specialized decks but is much more versatile and hard to disrupt for that reason. Some oddballs in there like Ocvist and Katakan but so far I'm loving it. Plan is to force round 1 (going -2 is fine, Triss is your best card at doing this), round 2 try to dry them out of cards while setting up carryover (nekkers, ekimaras and eggs) and round 3 you should be far ahead enough that they can't beat you (try saving high tempo plays like Woodland spirit or fire Ele for r3). Mulligan priority: foglets out of hand, then nekkers (you just want 1 in round 2)

Wise men think alike ;)

Our silver slots are probably somewhat different as well, right now I'm using Water Hag, Fiend and White Frost (+ the 3 crones). For gold I'm using Triss Merigold, Succubus, Zoltan Animal Tamer and Imlerith - basically the best ones I have. I somewhat miss the Wild Hunt Warriors and Wyverns that I used to have, since the interaction is great; further Eredin into Navigator into Wild Hunt Warrior (successful trigger) is one of the highest-tempo plays around. But there were just too many games in which I didn't need to commit more to the board, and just wanted to carry over stuff. Celeano Harpy is really good. I used to think only consume decks played it, but now I'm running the full set myself.

In the lower ranks decks are really bad ... I prefer not to queue ranked until I have a good deck, but there are free kegs per level gained or something, so I've been gritting my teeth and playing anyway.

Totally would not mind playing against Joly's deck since Succubus is SO GOOD against Nekkers, not to mention Vran Warriors! Speaking of which, a question: is Vran Warrior bugged? In many of my games it eats a 1-power Harpy Egg, but ends up as an 11-power minion instead of 6-power.

Read the text on Harpy Egg: if consumed it buffs the monster by an additional 5 points.

In the intermittent games I play I'm using a slight variation on this (Mardrome swapped for Lacerate which is so good right now):

http://www.gwentdb.com/decks/26252-3-global-grandmaster-dagon-weather-control

Just because I like the synergy between Caranthir, Old Speartip and Water Hag. Deck also has a bit more game against the NR swarm decks I'm seeing a lot off. Caranthir into Igni has got me a couple of concedes.

Eggs give an aditional 5 when consumed so no bug. A single vran warrior consuming 2 harpy eggs gets you 26 points out of 2 bronzes which is just incredible.
I don't like Succubus since it gives the opponent the last say. Often they can just insta pass forcing you to go -2 cards to get it's effect. And I have countered Succubus just by using an Ekimara to consume the sucubus target and placing it on other row.
Harpy is just the best bronze card in the game, there is no reason not to run 3 in any monster's deck.

Thanks didn't notice the +5 clause on eggs.

About Succubus, yes, the "threat" of the opponent passing immediately is something to consider. I don't think it's any different from playing a spy. With Succubus I typically aim to be ahead even after playing her, or to be in a "my opponent cannot pass" situation like in round 3. Ekimmara consuming Succubus's target is a legit possibility but mitigated in round 3, since by then my opponent is not likely to have Ekimmara in hand. Succubus is often holdable until the last few turns of round 3, when people are playing their Dol Blathanna Protectors, Pirate Captains, and what not. On the downside Succubus can be a complete blank against decks without high-power minions, and there are few things more depressing than playing Succubus on my side.

I have enough dust to craft a gold card again. Or I can craft Frightener. My gold slots are currently Triss Merigold, Succubus, Zoltan Animal Tamer and Imlerith. Any suggestions?

PS: Running into someone with a perfect netdeck @ rank 6 on ladder and then winning anyway feels great :D
