I am debating whether my silly set should actuwlly use dice as a homage to unglued or just say a random number btween blah and bleh with reminder text to use dice.

You need to stop the player casting spells between activations.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose 1 life and draw a card, then if you went bust in blackjack, discard your hand, otherwise you may repeat this process.

Even then, 21 is too high to make this card play any differently from necropotence except in edh

no I want the player to be able to cast spells in between, as if cheating in a game of blackjack, tucking your cards under the table or whatnot with your magical powers. What if I up the life to 3 or 5 or something

This is a punisher effect. I think it can cost less.

As is... say X = 3. The opponent can takes 6 damage for 5 mana. that's like barely more efficient than lava axe
Anything over that should be even scarier. Less is insignificant.

Browbeat is the best card since black lotus. But in serious you are probably right. It's just hard to cost because at high mana costs it gets crazy. I feel like this could be a cycle, and maybe there could be a version that counts cmc of revealed cards.

Aside from being free spells, those cards are commons. So you may "print" them at common, and enjoy havoc. It would be fun. Alternatively, just put five fun but useless rares in the set - it's not that of an effect on the limited.
