This is probably the lamest resolution possible for the vanilla Mythic mystery.

I can only hope that Contraptions are in silver-border land, it's a joke that's gotten really stale.

I remember MaRo saying that solving Contraptions in silver-border land is like not doing it at all. If he ever manages to do it, I expect it to be in black-border.

Not really. Here are multiple cases of MaRo saying that he would consider silver-bordered contraptions to be a success: http://markrosewater.tumblr.com/search/ ... ons+silver

Can't really figure out the signpost uncommons (to date only and are spoiled. Unless the archetypes are simply unchanged from AKH? The RW one looks pretty RW.

Give that it's the last small set / mixed draft format it would not surprise me if they just punted on making it distinct (or maybe it helped them decide to drop small sets). There aren't really any new mechanics; I don't think afflict or eternalize really count.

Hour of Devastation isn't the last small set. Ixalan will also have a small set, Rivals of Ixalan.

Well, now it is known: the other 3 enemy signposts are the same archetypes as last time (bg -1/-1 counters, ur instants&sorceries, wb zombies). And there are no signpost gold cards in friendly pairs this set (and the aftermath cards don't seem to be leading that way).

rw has gone from general go-wide to specifically exert, and gu is once again a mess (from mana doubledork to card draw and lifegain?)

The Hoopoe is a mana sink, it gives life against aggressive strategies and cards against drawn out ones.
Is that something you need in the set with Aftermath and Embalm/Eternalize? Probably not, but it fits the same archetype.

So green blue is basically 'dig in for the long game'? I guess that works. I didn't play much Akh draft (Launch day was my only go) so I never really grokked what gu was all about even then.

According to today's Making Magic article, Unstable has a card with a one-letter name. Speculate away!

I expect it to be "I" and either reference an Eye creature or the player themselves, maybe making an avatar or something.

Maybe I has the Avatar of Me "color of your eyes ability"

Just to speculate idly, thus draft format is going to be super slow battle cruiser magic isn't it?

Also the colors of the archetypes seem asymmetric, because of the 3 color rares (grixis pirate, Naya dinosaur)

Merfolk is UG and Vampires are BW.

I guess it will come down to where BG fits, and the common fixing.

It does work out so that each color has exactly two tribes.

W: dinosaurs and vampires
U: merfolk and pirates
B: pirates and vampires
R: dinosaurs and pirates
G: dinosaurs and merfolk

Not every color pair will fit into a tribe, but I'm sure there will be non-tribal limited archetypes.

Right so the odd pairs are the ones that have 4 tribes; UW and BG.

We now have 4 of the limited archetype multicolor uncommons (out of 10, probably). They seem to be pointing towards...

treasure
pirate aggro
toughness matters???
go-wide vampires

(http://mythicspoiler.com/newspoilers.html for reference)

My guess is UB pirate control vs RB pirate aggro. There is already 1 rare red pirate that mentions treasure (Captain Lannery Storm)

yeah I also forgot about the "Smashup" (which is the first thing I thought of after the leak) I expect they will try to put in some cross-tribe synergies for your Pirate-Dinosaur (Rx) deck or Vampire-Merfolk deck (UW?)

little raptor dino tokens? (this is PURE speculation, there is no spoiler that suggests this).

We can probably expect :u::g:, which entirely contains the Merfolk tribe, to follow the generally described merfolk pattern of +1/+1 counters and going unblockable.
