If Duels or Next mtg digital CCG's card collections could be transferred over to MtGO, we would share MP matches with some Dozens of Thousands botters.

They simply can't allow to share card collections, because the acquisition differs between the two products, and one of them (MtGO) actually attach a real monetary value to the digital object.

There's no way that any DotP-spawned port can share cards with MtGO, because the market would be flooded with cards acquired in one, shared, and sold in another.

If by July 2018 they come out with some Dominaria-based DotP port, instead of an MtGO graphic revamp, it'll just be the usual standalone limited title, with no direct consequence within MoDO's environment.

I have actually used MTGO before and spent money on it but I didn't know what I was doing so I kind of ruined it. I think I would need to really figure out some good trades and such to fix my account.

Wright, I guess you'd have a password fix if you did want to get back into it. I wonder also if they were ever to run a draft in which for an entrance you can come away with some cards owned (common, uncommon) but win rares/mythics. I have certainly seen you tube sessions from the likes of Reid Duke and Legend himself did a MTGO video as a one off.

It may be a one off cost for the chance to have some competitive play but for me the Duels route and DOTP before it you knew in advance or could control how much you wanted to spend.

One burning question for me will be is what is the pricing structure of new model. Clearly it will be more onerous cost wise than Duels has been. Possibly but unlikely no free to play at all. I know some people would probably pay for a better overall game experience, more multiplayer, no rarity etc but it needs to be set at a price below current MTGO for sure but cannot be as inexpensive as Magic Duels was otherwise it was dumb to can it when as a few have said it was just getting good.

Damn, all they had to do was give us one more set HOD and a small set at that. The good will with a proper announcement would have been worth it's weight in gold. Some senior executive's ass should be fired for this one.

I hope that MMO is not just another mobile game, but will se a console release as well.

I've only got my work PC so games is not an option. Phones are annoying to play on with their miniscule screens, which leaves consoles, and of course I got a PS4 thinking, that Duels would see a release on all major consoles.

Well, that was to be expected. Yes, even the abruptness.

MDO was basically a pyramid - there is a finite amount of potential new players, most "old" players don't need to pay, and gap between new and "old" players was ever-growing, making the game less and less attractive. There also was "no rotation" issue that lead to power creep and made the game lose an old deck archetype for almost every new deck archetype, and that couldn't be painlessly fixed.
Obviously that game needed to end quickly, after the first sign of financial problems - any work after closing announcement or after the moment when profit stopped to come is a zero-efficiency work.

Il'll keep playing, occasionally - there are a LOT of cards for me to left to unlock. After that, I'll probably stop.

You expected even the abruptness? Like sure we hate stainless and whatnot but the past duels ended fine, like even 2015 had a like "we're sorry, here's the last update with all the stuff we planned".

Rarity restriction is very good .It's not a bad thing.I don want to play standard or modern.The game is much better with rarity restriction.

My suggestion is give all cards each collection and stop card swaps.

The grinding unfortunately will increase (maybe a booster will cost 500 or 700 coins) .

2015 was a strictly PtP limited-lifetime product that was advertised as such. It also was more of a singleplayer game.
MDO was a pyramid: basically "we entertain older members at the expense of newer members."
Pyramids only last as long as they have constant stream of new members. Then, they abruptly collapse.
I have expected it, but not believed it, for the sole reason WotC promised that MDO will never end. WotC is not your typical pyramid company, right ? I hoped they will find a better business model.

I don't recall Wizards ever saying that 2015 wasn't going to have any more updates after the Garruk expansion. There was absolute silence for about three months after release of Garruk's expansion until word came about the existence of Duels Origins at PAX. It was another three months or so of silence until release on iOS. WIzards kept us hanging for a long time between its last 2015 update and when we got Duels in hand.

Right I guess that it is true but they at least still ended it with a fix is what I meant like people weren't liking the situation so they seemed to end it early with changes to the game and all the final cards.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong though.

Calling it now, PW decks only for MtG Next. They'll face however many years on non-profitability for yet another "introductory digital offering" and we're still left with the money guzzling lame-duck interface of MtGO or paper as the only other options.
