Hi there! With the spoiler about Commander and the new O-Kagachi card, I think this is a good moment to post this little fan made map of Kamigawa.
First of all, I didn't draw it, it's the work of a really excellent artist, Francesca Baerald (I'm not sure I can post a link to her site, I didn't read anything about it in the rules). I found all the information needed to give the greatest detail to it in the novels, vignettes, fat pack and cards themselves.
Obviously I had to guess the location of some minor place (like Miren or Tomb of Urami), but the general direction of the major locations are all there. We know that Eiganjo is at the center, Takenuma swamp in the west, Sokenzan in the south, Jukai in the east and Minamo in the north.
Let me know what you think!
(Especially you, Squirle Master Wink )

I already saw this when you posted it on MtG Sally (just lurking, don't have an account there) and I think it's amazing. In fact, I took a screenshot immediately. I can't say anything about its accuracy from the top of my head, but it looks absolutely stunning and exactly like I'd imagine an ideal map of Kamigawa. It's particularly cool because I really miss getting official maps from Wizards and I think it's something they should start doing again.

Anyway, thanks for having this commissioned! That's the spirit ;)

Thank you!
Yes, I really miss the fact that they don't make maps anymore :-(
What's the point of making world guides if you don't show me that world, but just a bunch of seprate info?
I still hope beyond hope that with Return to Dominaria they can give us a map of the world (maybe a little one...)

I know, right? I mean, first they stop giving us free Planeswalker's Guides and want us to buy their stupid artbooks instead, and then those artbooks don't even have maps. What's the point? Even many of the novels used to have maps of their respective setting in them.

I'm kinda hoping for a new map of Dominaria, too, though I guess the emphasis is clearly on the "beyond hope" part.

Didn't we already have a map of Kamigawa? It was a playmat or something...

Yes, but unfortunately it wasn't designed in co-operation with Scott McGough and doesn't line up with what's in the books.

Yes, we had, but it is a bit... disappointing.
The only thing that it got right is Eiganjo (I think) at the center of it.

Ugh, you inspired me to work more on the flavor of my custom set for a return.

Holy crap, this is incredible. You absolutely picked the correct artist, because the style fits the world perfectly.

Now I want a return to Kamigawa! What a fun and unique setting.

What would be the ideal story behind Return to Kamigawa anyways though?

I made a slightly touch more than an outline here for my custom set. But that's the result of trying to quickly make some flavor texts to feel for flavor text space on cards. I'm sure someone could make a story more pertinent to the cast of planeswalkers and using more of the major known inhabitants.
