Elementals, spirits.

Spirits disqualified for being everywhere, but mostly white. Red has no claim there.
Elemental... kinda, though shared with green and blue, as well as usually opting above the normal tool size range.

...would lizard count?

It's a really slow day at work and I've taken to opportunity to restart my work on a MtG RPG. Making good progress, but I've hit a snag with Blue. Each color can start out as one of three "classes" and Blue currently has Wizard and Rogue. Wizard eventually specialized in mind magic, artificer, and meta magic or void magic (haven't decided on the name). I haven't decided what the Rogue specalizations will be, but I'm confident I'll figure that out.

My problem is that Wizard is extremely broad. I'd like to have a starting class that eventually specializes in elemental and transformational magic, but in Magic, the people who do that are simply Wizards. In other settings, this might be called a Shaman, but there are barely any Blue Shamans in Magic. Anyone has any ideas?

Subclasses/exclusive specializations? Basically have wizards use a consistet resource and casting system but have different features and accessible spells if they pick hydromancer, illusionist, or mentalist.

Also possibly split off artificer into its own class to give more room for Wizard specs?

For rogues, thief, con-artist, and spy seem like the big 'jobs' they perform in M:tG

Yeah artificer is a creature type in the game so getting it's own class would help. Could specialize in gear, trinkets, or vehicles maybe? I dunno. Just spouting off the top of my head.

I wouldn't limit blue's elemental identity to hydromancer, they get wind and ice too. I would just have elementalist as the specialty.

Wizard could probably be more elemental magic like wow mages. Lots of fire and ice and psionic blasts and junk. Mind reading could work nicely for a rogue/thief. I third artificer, building stuff is the best in RPGs.

My birthday came and by. Feel generally incomplete and inadequate, but at least I got several old friends to show up and wish me luck, so that's good.

I think everyone shares those feelings, so I hope they aren't too bad.

Yeah, my birthdays tend to do that to me, too. I hope you enjoyed it anyway. Belated happy birthday!

You know, with core sets coming back and Magic's anniversary around the corner, wouldn't it be cool if they turned some of the most epic and iconic lines from Magic's story into flavour text? Could be on reprints or new cards, and not all of them would require new art if they didn't have the budget for it. Some of them might need a sentence or so added to provide context, and it's probably just a quirky, weirdly specific idea, but damn, there's a lot they could do with it.

Possible selection, I'm sure I'm missing a ton of good options:

Quick question i randomly thought of:

Did Wizards ever release an official map of Dominaria? I know they have the globe, and there are fam made maps that I have seen, but I was wondering if there was an official one in an art book somewhere.

There's a map that covers a lot of points of interest, originally from the Invasion Minisite (Featuring a game where you had to match the countries/regions of Dominaria with their dominant colors to bring together the Coalition. I know it really well because we used it for the Coalition War Game for over a decade.

It's not a total world map; It doesn't have Sarpadia or Otaria, for instance, but it's fairly good at letting us know where most of the big name places are.

Dominaria: Continental drift. Where we change anything we want due to loosely explained mechanics and magic!
