About that Gods discussion:

What if that other thing was a normal creature? There are now a ton of ways to print cards that are different creatures at different times. Double-faced cards. The embalm technology. Or just a die trigger - it dies and comes back as a god. They did this for planeswalkers, and the new token technology from embalm can help with the gameplay issues double-faced cards have in normal sets.

Changing from one set of creature stats to another does open a lot of mechanical technology. They may eventually do that.

No, the tokens wouldn't work. They'd have to put the full rules text of the god token onto the main card, in quotation marks, and that would take up a ton of space and look ugly as hell. And they can't just make gods come back from the dead for no reason when that doesn't fit the story.

I like the way they made the Amonkhet gods compared to those of theros. The theros ones struck me as capricious and made sense that they only showed up if you showed enough devotion to them. The Amonkhet gods always walk among the mortals and only asked that you proved yourselves worthy before them so it makes sense that they are always creatures on the board waiting for you to prove your worthiness.

Either way where are the spoilers for Archenemy: Nicol Bolas? It's only a little over 2 weeks away.

That would most likely make it in Ixalan in the fall because we were still doing a "file watch" on it all the way through when that set went to print.

Sad news everyone:

No, it’s in Unstable.

yeah that seems like a big ol' cop-out, especially for something he's been hyping for so long.

The "mythic vanilla" is going to be an ice cream creature with abilities, isn't it.

The mythic vanilla was confirmed a while back to have no rules text, so it will be legitimately vanilla, but yes, it might also be ice cream related.

In fairness to him, he only ever intended to through it out as an off-hand comment. He never thought it would blow up as much as it did.

"Does the vanilla mythic have literally zero rules text?"

"That’s what makes it Vanilla.
It might have reminder text and/or flavor text."

Why would a card with zero rules text need reminder text? A peculiarity of the casting cost? Cards with Phyrexian-mana costs had reminder text.

Of course, this being an un-set, it might be something silly like "(Walls can attack)"

Why do I get the feeling there will be not only a Vanilla Mythic, but also a Chocolate Mythic and a Strawberry Mythic?

That all three together mega-fuse into some sort of Neopolitan abomination of mythicness?

The vanilla mythic has now been confirmed to have reminder text and also be a card that couldn't be done in black border.

Blogatog wrote:

Yes, it does.

One of the rules is we don’t do silver bordered cards that could simply be done in black border.

Also, the Unstable set symbol was revealed, and people are speculating wildly about squirrels and contraptions.

I can only hope that Contraptions are in silver-border land, it's a joke that's gotten really stale.

That doesn't mean that things previously only doable in silver boarder can't eventually become allowable in black boarder. That's one of the points of Un-Sets; to push the boundaries of what it possible and learn from the experience.

Vanilla Mythic is Blue, Chocolate Mythic is Black, Strawberry Mythic is Red, and you put them together to get Bolas
