Basically we're not getting hour of devastation and Amon was the last content update to Duels

Wow. Not even a set warning classy.

I'm pretty sure this subsection is the one of the main reasons to keep this forum alive, so... what do we do until the next title is released?

Well, KOTH can move to a seasonal ladder. And we can still run Periodic tourneys until the next game drops.

Not even hour? Well that's a bummer. Can't even tide us over with a proper last update of cards to last us to the end of the year.
Even worse is that we still don't even know what MDN is so we're just left hanging with nothing in the hopes MDN is good.

I knew Duels was living on borrowed time, but cutting our content updates in the middle of the block feels bad man . At least give us Bolas before dumping us you effortless ****!

edit: I like how they don't have anything positive to announce during the "magic digital announcement day". They just pulled off the bandaid. This "announcement week" gimmick wasn't very well thought out, folks.

I have to apologize. This is my fault, guys. I dropped my iPad, and haven't been playing for a few weeks now. WotC must have noticed I wasn't playing, figured there was no point in going on, and just cancelled the whole thing! I am just saving up to have my iPad repaired. Once it's fixed, I'll send Wizards a notice and get the whole thing going again.

Once again, terribly sorry.

The amazingly short notice is what pisses me off the most.

I also am not happy that they didn't complete the block, and dumped Duels without a known "last hurrah" update. My guess is they didn't want the last hurrah update to be known because that might have hindered player purchases ($$$$) up to this point.

I agree with Divinevert - we'll continue on with defined duration tournaments on this platform until the replacement comes along. It's just that we'll have to prepare ourselves for at least 6 months of metagame stagnation...maybe longer.

Yeah it's very disappointing the way they announced it, but releasing HOD and saying that it would be the last expansion would not be positive for them. It's sad that they brought only half block, i wanted to use Bolas with our cardpool and more cycling cards.

This is unfortunate

I don't play MTGO anymore because I can't justify the financial model used for an online game, hell I don't play Hearthstone because of their financial model and that's peanuts compared to MTGO. I just can't see wizards next offering having a reasonable price tag attached. I'll wait and see, but I'm guessing that that's the end of Magic for me. Shame, it's the best card game imo, guess I'll just go for strategy games now.

They also gave us Dark Intimations.

Suppose it's fitting in a way to end it by wizards showing us the middle finger one more time.

Ahahaha, the incompetency of these asshats knows no limits. Given the way they've treated Duels from the beginning I'm not surprised at the nature of this announcement, but it's still mildly amazing that they can't even announce what they have in the pipeline, other than a very poorly-thought out MMO that no one wants. Really glad I switched to MTGO Pauper prior to Amonkhet's release. If you're okay with the cognitive dissonance of still supporting this abusive company, I recommend it. Cheap, extremely healthy meta, and tons of fun for every playstyle. I have to admit I've been enjoying it more than I ever have Duels. You can always sell your cards back to cash out too, which is not possible in Hearthstone or most of the other online ccgs.
